Hit a century in PSL, get into the Pakistan T20I team - Is this the norm now?

So is this the easiest way to get into the T20i team.

It increases your runs tally so defintiely helps. But strike rate at which you score the century more important than just scoring it. Both players played at good strike rates if i recall correctly.

It’s probably to do with their overall performance, as both Kamran Akmal and Sharjeel Khan made runs through out the tournament

Will get a better idea of your question if someone bats poorly through out a season but scores a hundred in one game
Then if he gets selected then it’s obvious this is the formula the PCB is using

I get your point but you have to realize that a 100 off 70 balls is still a SR of 143 so it will still be praised regardless and get media hype. Centuries in t20s are still not that common

Well it increases your overall run tally but consistency is more important. But a century is probably more likely to catch everyone's eyes rather than consistent scores of 40+ throughout. Hopefully Sahibzada Farhan has 1 standout innings so he can be in the next Pakistan squad.

Sharjeel had been playing limited overs cricket for years already. Simply hitting a century in the PSL didnt give him the only reason to be selected.

Akmal had been a long servant to the game and got a 5th chance. Many players are recalled after strong domestic seasons.

First class and list A performances are hardly rewarded now days. It's either PSL performances or a couple of decent performances in a domestic competition.

We all should thank God that Salman Butt isn't in the PSL, even a 50 at 70SR from him would have been good enough for Inzi to select him in all three formats. Inzi may even make Butt captain.

Inzamam hasn't selected Butt even once for any format despite him scoring some runs in FC cricket . So what exactly is your post based on?

It also worked for Fakhar last year as he was one of the few who did anything reasonable with the bat. Seems like a strong PSL peformance is a pretty legit way to make it into the squad. Meanwhile we have Fawad who has piled on the centuries in first class cricket but can't get a look in. Pretty incredible system we have here in Pakistan.
