JOHANNESBURG: Cricket South Africa (CSA) today announced the squad that will represent South Africa at the prestigious Hong Kong (HK) Sixes tournament, to be held from 07 - 09 November at the Tin Kwong Road Recreation Ground in Hong Kong.

South Africa are five-time HK Sixes champions, having won the 1995, 2006, 2009, 2012 and 2017 editions of the tournament.

This year’s squad blends experience and youthful talent, aiming to make a strong impact at the high-octane tournament.

The seven-player squad will be captained by Warriors all-rounder Jordan Morris. South Africa Under-19 and Titans batter Jorich van Schalkwyk has also been included. The 18-year-old opener made headlines in July when he became the first batter to score a double century at U19 level, achieving the feat against Zimbabwe.

Boland batter Ethan Cunningham and Western Province batter Kashief Joseph add depth to the batting line-up, while all-rounders Abdullah Bayomi (Western Province) and Blake Simpson (Dolphins) bring versatility to the squad.

In the bowling department, Western Province paceman Mbulelo Dube will spearhead the attack.

South Africa is pooled in Group A with Afghanistan and Nepal, and will open their campaign against Afghanistan on 07 November before taking on Nepal the following day.

I have always enjoyed this tournament even though it makes a complete mockery of cricket.

"Why don't our players play FC?".

These is a question often repeated by the posters here and I hope we can remember why. They are going to be missing much needed FC games in their development for this nonsense tournament. Our other main core players like Saim/Hasan etc are currently missing FC for a pointless white ball camp.

I can't comprehend why you need send some of young talented players instead of focusing on their development in FC and send old players that don't have a future on the team like Aamer Yamin.

It also says they have zero plans to have Abbas Afridi in the squad for the upcoming ODI series vs SA, which seems silly. He should be getting groomed to be your pace allrounder for 2027 WC which is happening in South Africa where you will very likely need a pace all rounder in your lineup.

So India-Pakistan to face again?
