Hong Kong Sixes (2025) - Discussion Thread

suddenly i found this thread to be active lol Now i know the reason. AT this rate this thread will do better than ODI thread. Pakistan is on course to win the world T20 title, WTC final, ODI world cup after stellar show in this honkong sixes. Advance congradulations. INdia has to sit and analyze where it went wrong try to bring in Gavaskar, Mohinder AMarnath in the next sixes tournament.

Pakistan won't win the trophy. At team who have lost to pathetic retired oldies team of India doesn't deserve to win the trophy.

UAE trophy win was celebrated the same way. I was surprised. They prepared very well for Asia cup with that tournament. But didn't help. But for BD, SL choking they would not have reached the final.

The way you were doing bhangra over INdia'a DLS win where rain saved you, it looked like you had the time of your life but UAE, Kuwait and now Nepal had other plans where there was no rain to save you.

DLS is the reason Pak won 1992 world cup, remember?

You guys are behaving as if DLS rule was applied for the first time. 😂

Ye

Yeah man.. they deserve to do bhangra...

TBH....Indian posters didnt even do bhangra after beating Pak on 3 consecutive sundays in Asia cup, let alone in HK sixes.

Pak fans here are getting elated bcoz Indian 40 year old buddhas lost a HK Sixes match against Oman and Nepal. The same tournament where their own team lost against same Indian buddhas.

So just imagine, had Pakistan beaten India on 3 consecutive weekends - what would be the celebration like? Think it will be talked about atleast until 2030s.

4 sundays including women's cricket. I still don't feel like celebrating or trolling as it was expected result. I understand they do this on social media for reach.

So pakistani fans on a pakistani forum on a hongkong cricket sixes thread shouldnt discuss hongkong sixes?

The indians here are really dumb group.

They tend to forget that its a cricket forum, so any thread regarding a tournament will be discussed.

Now just cause india got its ass handed over by kuwait, doesnt mean we should be forced to not discuss it

When you live in India and selectively ignore news that looks bad on your nationalism, you think the whole world operates like that.....

If you dont like it, you can always leave. Its a pakistani forum at the end of the day

A simple advance congradulations has triggered you so much :ROFLMAO:

This is ironically my favorite tournament all time. I don’t know why they changed it to 6 overs because 5 overs per side was perfect and has been like that for decades.

For strange reasons, India never mastered this format.

Pakistan is generally well
represented.

This format is an unorecognized format created for fun as six hitting was not quiet common back in those days. Nowadays you have T20, T10, 100.This has been irrelevant for too long. Good for these associate sides as they hardly get to play internationals

Still think Hong Kong sixes remains a unique tournament and has a carnival type vibe.

I wish the boundaries weren’t a joke and only proper hits went for 6.

Nevertheless , a fun tournament.

Hong Kong Sixes is older than T20.

First Hong Kong Sixes happened in 1992. Since then, it has been a regular event.

I actually like Hong Kong Sixes better than The Hundred.

Absolutely.

It has a fan following of its own. One of the reasons why it never took off is because of India’s lacklustre support for it over the years.

This tournament had potentially to go on TV and OTT everywhere in the world .

Same here. I actually love this tournament infact this tournament has a cult following.

Pcb also loves to send a full strength team.

The indian side that comes seems to be influential indian players that pull a sifarish for this.

This time around they are bot playing in Kowloon. Kowloon was the ground where mishits and edges landed for six. Plus the pitch in kowloon used to be a mat covering..

This time around they are playing on a proper cricket pitch and the indian team was not prepared as slight movement of the ball and they gave wickets.

The boundary on the straighrer side seems to be not the traditional hk sixes boundary as mis hits there are not going for six. (They play from one end)

HK sixes was always a carnival festival type of cricket. Always loved it.

I got hooked up to it after watching Shane Warne and Lara play in it.

Yup. That is true. Its older than t20, and alot of famous stars have featured in it which includes Akram, Lara and Warne.

This tournament always had its own vibe and always loved the 2 day festival of cricket.

I wish we could have this in Pakistan, as a two day crickrt festival.

Whats fun is how after every 5 overs who get to watch a new game being played

This type of fun tournament would do well in Pakistan, even T10 would.

Our ramzan night cups get bigger crowds than many test matches, people like fun cricket. You can hold it in smaller cities, two days and done.

Yup true. Only issue is we need a proper organizer and marketeer that can make it happen

Last i saw was before sometime before 2010. I never even checked scorecard. It is a massively outdated tournament.

Yes.

During the 1990's, Hong Kong Sixes used to attract big players. It was like T20 during those days.
