Where does Australia's batting stand at the moment amongst all the other test teams in the world?

That their pacers are talented is without a doubt.

But how highly do you rate their batting atm?

Strictly talking about test cricket here.

Take away Warner and Smith and I dont rate them at all. Warner is the equivalent of 3 batsmen though

Not as bad as people make it out to be. Quite solid actually in my opinion. I think the top 4 is particularly strong, with 2 star players in Warner and Smith. Shaun Marsh, despite the hate he gets, is a consistent player averaging over 40 in test cricket. Khawaja has shown how good he can be as well, especially on Australian pitches. The problem lies in 5 & 6. Voges can't handle pressure and struggles against good teams. Marsh is a very good fifth bowler but is not a test number 6. If Marsh and Neville swap positions, Australia have a good top 6 (provided that Voges is replaced by someone like Callum Ferguson). Neville is good when he has a lot of time to bat.

In ODI's they are formidable everywhere.

In Tests - they are formidable at home. One of the very few sides who can bat at a RR of 5-6 throughout an entire day in Tests!

Give them a concrete slab and they'll go off like a train.

A deck with a blade of grass or a crack however, it's all over.

Warner and Smith are world class in Aussie conditions. But the rest of them are very dodgy if u can get Warner and Smith cheaply then you have a very good chance against the Aussies. But if Warner bats 60-70 overs then you 80% have lost the game.

JUST IN: Shaun Marsh has been ruled out of second Test

Joe Burns and Callum Ferguson have been included in the Australia squad

A lot of you are talking about 2 world class batsman . . I think 2 world class batsman in any team are a blessing! Especially in their conditions . . and one of their world class batsman (warner) takes the game away from you in no time . . so in Australian conditions, it's a very good batting line up!

Very weak. Even their bowling is weak outside of Starc and Hazlewood.

SA are smashing Aussies even without ABD. This is a serious concern.

SA also bundled out Aussies without Steyn. Very weak Aussie side at the moment.

Dismiss Warner early and you would have them in the hut for 150 all out.

Convict, what is the pecking order for the batsmen in the Shield for selection in the national team right now?

Why are Handscomb and Patterson not selected in the squads..

Weaker than Pakistan, India, SA, and England. Better than NZ, Bangladesh, WI, and Zimbabwe.

Patterson is talented but only just starting to make the step up. I find it odd seeing his name getting mentioned so often around the place at the moment.

In terms of an experienced batsman Ferguson is probably a good pick as next in line. Given how underperforming the team is they probably don't want to try out someone new
