The match against Ban will determine if Pak goes through or not.
Pak will beat Eng in the final to lift the WC.

A tragic semi-final or final loss which will set up a redemption arc for the boys to go all the way and lift the WC in Mumbai four years later, InshaAllah.

Group stage exit with defeats to India, England, New Zealand and Australia.
And one more defeat against either WI/BAN.

I predicted in 2017 that we will be the Champions of the CT 17 and I will do that again, Inshaallah we will be the winners
of the WC 19 defeating England or India in the Finals.

Heart says winners, head says a semi-final loss.

Winners.

Surprise the world.

Team is full of matchwinners, especially the top 3 of our batting.

Group stage exit. The team has too many weaknesses to compete with non minnow teams.

1. Poor batting
2. No power hitters
3. Specialist captain
4. Non existent spinners
5. Pacers who can’t pick wickets
6. Some over the hill players
7. Low team spirit

A semifinal qualification will be a big achievement.

group stage exit hopefully.captain doesn't make team on merit and some other rubbish players too.

What's the point of all of this talking when u can't even win the cup?
There's no point of hoping that we lose. It would just mean we will have to wait 4 years more to get another chance.
Just support whoever is in the team now. Winning is the main objective, it doesn't matter which team wins it.

We are winning the one.. the heroes would be Shinwari, Shadab, Sohail and Imam. Will win 6-7 games and beat SA or Eng in the Semi and Australia/NZ in the final.

Getting to the semis would be a great achievement. If we turn up anything is possible. But if this team performs how it does how it has since the CT against top teams, we will beaten black and blue against all teams except Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh.

SF's loss imo. Pakistan generally do well in the UK (barring CT 2013 which we all know never happened) but I don't see the potential to get any further.

We have always done well in world cups barring 2003 and 2007 editions. We will do well and we will win, something tells me!

As a PAK cricket fan my heart says they will go all the way!

I back the likes of Fakhar, Babar, Shadab, Hasan, Amir and captain Sarfaraz to show up when it REALLY matters.

Pakistan has HUGE history in doing well in ICC events. Inshallah they will hit top gear come the WC

If they get to the semis they can win it. I mean a WC game a KO PAK vs ENG i would back Pak to win.

That’s why I am optimistic. Pakistan don’t do well early on and when the pressure is on to win early games.. as the tournament progresses, they get their confidence and start doing well. Once they get to the semis, they can be very dangerous. And they have always done considerably well in England, so there is plenty to be hopeful for.

You just never know with Pakistan it's actually hard to predict my soul says they will win the whole thing my heart says semi final and my brain says first round exit lol only time will tell

We are winning this of course :D

The signs are clear. Our prep has been poor leading into the tournament (exactly as was planned).

Time to fluke it again!

Though it we beat India in the group games, that will make my year.

Get a thrashing from India in the GS is necessary or we'll become overconfident. Avenge that loss in the semis or in the final.

I do believe for us to win the WC we will have to get a thrashing in the beginning, which will “kickstart” our players.

We simply aren't a top 4 side and in a format like this there's nowhere to hide. I doubt Pakistan will even be contenders for a semi final spot.

Gotta love seeing all the whiners and wrist-slitters sitting on the fence because even they know that Pakistan can demolish the opposition if the bowlers hit form. I'm not concerned about our batting at all. They are not good enough to score 350s and 400s but it is very unlikely that they get bowled out for under 250. Consistent scores of 270-280 should be good enough.

Pakistan will win the WC IMO.

8 years down the line after India won it, this is a given in the history books and there is no stopping to Pakistan from winning the World Cup. Shaheen Shah Afridi will do a Wasim Akram of 92 this time for Pakistan.

However, I believe Pakistan will still lose the group match against India and the streak will continue as it is from years.

I personally think Pak will get to the Semj finals . After that anything is possible .

I think we will lose the England series maybe even 4-1. But that will be a short term loss for the long term which is ultimately the World Cup .

For me the first match against West Indies is very important. A win is a must there.

I see Pak winning 5 or 6 and losing 3/4.

I think we will win West Indies , sl, afg, bang. That leaves 1 out of 5 to win against England , India , aus, New Zealand and South Africa .

We usually beat South Africa In ICC tournaments, that’s 5 wins . Break the streak against India and with 6 wins we are comfortably in to the Semis! Inshallah.

I believe our middle/ lower order will save us on a few occasions as well , as we might lose early wickets on in a few matches which is possible in the Uk In June with 10.30 starts .

Honestly our team is awful but after the Champions Trophy 2017 you just never know. On paper, we should have no business making it past the group stage, but cos this is Pakistan Cricket team we are talking about, I have voted for beaten semi-finalists!

If Abid Ali is selected I can see us getting in the SF. Otherwise Group stage exit.

India in 1983, Australia in 1987 and Pakistan in 1992.

India in 2011, Australia in 2015 and ???????? in 2019.

History would repeat itself.

Group stage knockout. Pakistan lacks good middle over players who can occupy the crease & rotate the strike while the spinners are on. They are all the place & ends up loosing the wickets at the wrong time due to this . Asia Cup exposed them very badly.

We'll lose in the semi's to Souith Africa or Australia. Before that we'll punch well above our weight.

Well you can say it like this as well:

India were the hosts in 2011 - they won the WC
Australia were the hosts in 2015 - They won the WC
England are the hosts in 2019 - ?

These things can be twisted as we want to get a sequence :) lol

Nasser Hussain on 2019 Cricket World Cup, the Ashes and Steve Smith-David Warner return

Nasser Hussain has issued a timely reminder that it is not only hosts England, defending champions Australia and Virat Kohli’s India who are capable of winning the 2019 World Cup.

Much of the build-up to this summer’s showpiece event, which starts on May 30, has focused on England – currently ranked No. 1 in the world – five-time winners Australia and in-form India.

But former England captain Hussain says the tournament is ‘wide open’, with New Zealand, West Indies and Pakistan also capable of lifting the trophy at Lord’s come July 14. ‘The two top-ranked sides – England and India – have both got great chances [of winning the World Cup],’ Hussain told Metro.co.uk.

‘India have a massive, massive line-up, they really do. They travel well and Kohli is the great player in world cricket at the moment.

‘Looking at England, it’s a complete turnaround from where they were going into the last World Cup, and any World Cup really. They are in serious form.

‘But looking elsewhere, New Zealand are a very fine side and their record recently is exceptional. West Indies can be a bit hit and miss but just look at some of their cricketers…

‘Talking of hit and miss, look at Pakistan. They’re playing terrible one-day cricket at the moment but that almost makes them more dangerous.

‘One day they’re down and the next they’re brilliant, as they showed in the Champions Trophy [in 2017]. So it’s wide open, it really is.’

Australia, who won the last World Cup four years ago on home soil, announced their provisional squad for this summer’s tournament on Monday.

Former captain Steve Smith and opening batsman David Warner were both named in the 15-man squad, a little over a year since they were banned for their parts in the ball-tampering scandal.

Smith and Warner are currently playing in the Indian Premier League, with Warner making five plus-50 scores in his seven innings for 2018 runners-up Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Hussain expects the two Australians to perform well at the World Cup and says they deserve their place in the squad.

He added: ‘They are very fine cricketers but it will be difficult for them both as they will cop a bit of flack from the crowds.

‘Everyone makes mistakes and they’ve served their bans so it’s time to move on. It’s absolutely right that they’re back in the squad.

‘What could be difficult for them both is knowing they’ve replaced two good cricketers in the squad. That might weigh heavy on their shoulders but I expect them to play well.

’ Following the World Cup, England’s attentions turn to Test cricket and a home Ashes series against Australia.

The Baggy Greens are currently in possession of the urn following their 4-0 triumph in 2017-18, but Hussain believes England’s strength at home will see Joe Root’s side regain the Ashes.

However, the former captain says finding a settled and successful top three will be imperative, with England’s top-order struggling over the past two years and Alastair Cook retiring last summer.

‘England’s record at home is phenomenal,’ Hussain said.

‘They are a very good team at home. Look what they did to India last summer.

‘We have a long batting line-up but we need to find a top three that gets runs, which won’t be easy against that impressive Australian pace attack.

‘England have Root, [Ben] Stokes, [Jos] Buttler and [Jonny] Bairstow in their middle order, who are all fantastic players. But, to win an Ashes series, you need your top three to fire.’

A day to go before the 15 man squad is announced.

Hmm true. They could, I just think this ODI team is somewhat underwhelming, but arguably you could say the same about the CT 17 one at face value. I just don't see it happening personally.

Changing my decision of World Cup winners to Group Stage exit.

No way are they going through after the squad announcement.

India
England
Australia
South Africa

Will make the Semi Finals

Go all the way. Lets back the Green Team.

T20 World Cup
Champs Trophy

Both won in England.

With the squad announced I must be surprised if we don’t win the tournament.

A gun-squad.

Very optimistic poll outcome so far...

Interesting to see the pattern - almost everyone thinks that if PAK makes the Final, they'll win it. Of the 28 votes that went for minimum Final, 27 are for winners and only 1 for a loss in Final. In fact, out of 48 SF or better poll, 28 (~58%) has suggested to win the SF. From the votes so far, it looks like the most predictable result is Win in Finals, then either SF loss or Group stage exit, and almost noting for a loss in Finals.

This suggests that the voting is done more from emotion than sense.

It's a prediction. There's no emotion or sense in a prediction. It's just what u think.

So, most posters think that if PAK makes the Final - they are 97% certain to win it?

Most likely, would have won the 1999 as well if it wasn't for a certain someone that still to this day says it was a "Team Decision" to bat first every single time you ask him why he batted first.

Well we all want to win n celebrate hehe

With our pace attack I think we should fare well. Junaid Amir Hasan Shadab Shaheen that's your unbeatable trio along with Sarfraz Malik Hafeez, Sohail Babar Fakahar. Your main 11 players for the world Cup. This team gives us the required modern day dynamic mould. All of these players are provenat the highest level and bring incredible skills with the ball and bat. We can always tune the team but if this core can be in form and play as a firm unit we can become a force.

Against any bowling attack we have batsmen in the top 7 who can all play the roles of accumulators and aggressors. Fast bowling we have Amir Junaid and Shaheen upfront to give us lively starts with Hassan also proving to be a handful in PP overs as shown in PSL this year. For Spin we have Shadab with his googly and to support him Hopefully professor brings his A game which can be a pivotal role for him at least. I do like to trust Haris Sohail in middle overs too become a Golden Arm on regular occasions as his lefties can spin and drift. We should not look to ever concede more than 320 and our batting needs to ensure they are in the fit physical condition to be chasing anything in that region then we shall see Glory

I see a group stage exit. The team lacks real quality in all departments and is probably one of the weakest squads sent to a world cup by Pakistan. However Pakistan are well supported and generally fare better in England and I would love to be proved wrong, but there is no real match winners in the squad and too many players who are simply not good enough and those that should have retired and players that are not ready yet. I see a complete failure of selection by Inzi here and its been a complete let down. I will be going to a number of matches to support the team however.

Imam
Fakhar
Babar
Harris
Sarfaraz
Hafeez/Malik
Imad/Junaid depending on pitch
Shadab
Aamir
Hassan
Shaheen
This team will win the world cup inshaALLAH...no faheem please and only play one of hafeez and malik
