What's new

"I don't think I got the time and chances that I needed post-injury" : Junaid Khan

Should get the nod for the limited overs leg down under !! He is in top form.....

Another great bowling spell by Junaid Khan today..

4 overs, 22 runs, 3 wickets... He has been one of Khulna's top performers this tournament

You're trying too hard now.

Junaid brings nothing new to the table. A rich man's Junaid with the same skillset is already playing - Imran Khan.

They can't swing nor seam, and are not needed in the PAK team. We need bowlers with some skill who can move the ball.

Lmao give me a break Imran "gun barrel straight" Khan is not rich man's Junaid. Imran is the epitome of mediocrity. He makes Umar Gul look good. Wait till Imran gets demolished down under then you lot will be the first ones asking for his head.

I never rated Imran. And I don't rate Junaid for the same reason.

Both are the same bowlers and in Umar Gul class.

Joint highest wicket-taker now at the BPL.

Did he got back his inswingers?

Was Amir swinging it back in BPL last year? No.. Why was he given a chance then after he performed in the BPL? Junaid has gotten more wickets than him... and Amir was bowling in 120s in this tournament

Another 4'fer for Junaid Khan... in a semi final playoff.... Woww woww woww.. Junaid Khan absolutely fantastic...

He's been the best pacer of the tournament along with Shafi ul Islam

Haan bhai Hawkeye ... JK back in form? Amir was hyped tenfolds despite being on no.9 of top 10 wicket takers of the tournament :)) and he was bowling at 120 clicks back then

His t20 performances should be used as a case to call him up for tests but he's done enough for a T20 and maybe odi call up. Needs to play 1st class cricket before he's considered for tests.

Juni needs to be on that Aussie bound plane for the LOI leg of the tour.

A bowling attack of Amir, Junaid, Hasan, Wahab and Imad in ODIs is very competitive and even a captain like Azhar may win matches with them.

Has he regained his pace? if yes than he should be selected.

Amir
Asif
Junaid
Hassan/ Wahab
Imad

He's been a top performer for Lancashire, and now Khulna, but we've always accomodated oldies like Gul and Tanvir instead of playing him as a premium death bowler, this is where he won all matches for Khulna.. at the death

The only worry I have about him is his action. It may be all right but I saw a few videos of his BPL exploits and I must say it looked dodgy.

Brilliant BPL 2016 for Junaid - one hopes he can make a place for himself in the LOI squads for Australia

He had a chance to play a full domestic season and get a truckload of wickets but he opted to play another BPL which isnt much of a competition. Don't think he deserves a place in the side as yet.

Nice to see him take this chance with both hands - hope he continues on like this for the rest of the series.

Could've gotten 3 if the umpire could use his ears.. Would've benefited Junaid more than Amir, Amir is already a main fixture in the side.

It is just me or did Amir look substantially more threatening when he had an able partner at the other end.

What usually was happening was Amir would create pressure, beat the bat, and then someone like a Wahab or a Rahat or a Sohail would get dispatched for 10+ in the next over.

what a sight to see AMIR and JUNAID attacking with the new ball as a pair... AZHAR ALI would have opened the bowling with hafeez and amir like the first game... azhar ali is like a video game CPU player... programmed then fine will be the same strategy until u change the programme again... Im sure if azhar ali captain in the next 3 matches he will use the same as what hafeez used today irrespective of the pitch, scorecard and batsmen...

Junaid doing well in this series is bad for Pakistan in the long run. He is not good for international cricket in any format for any considerable period of time. 2-3 good performances here and there happen for anyone.

He isn't as special as we all thought he was but he isn't too bad either. He can be a good addition to the team until some world class talent emerges.

I said a year ago, he would be back. PAK just don't have bowlers good enough to keep him out of the side. Just needs to keep bowling with real intent and purpose.

Another player who will be back and irks people on this board( hard to argue) is Ahmed Shahzad- His reason for return will be very similar( just swap batsmen with bowlers from above statement).

Both are still young and both will be the staple of Pakistani lineups going forward for a long time( if not for bad PCB selections- something you can always count on).
Whether you win anything with them- that's a different matter.

He has had his chance and he has once again displayed that he is not good enough.

This should be the end of the road for him. No pace, no swing, no penetration and on top of that, a highly suspect action.

It's not 2012-13 anymore, he is a lost cause. He will get destroyed in the Champions Trophy.

Then suggest alternate new ball bowlers, and please no Rahat, Imran, Sohail, Wahab or Irfan.

Took out Warner for the third time in as many games and got Smith today too. These are pretty flat pitches so it's understandable why him and Amir have been hit around but their partnership definitely is full of quality.

That is what Inzi The Revolutionary is being paid for, but yeah he will probably bring back some old friend of his like Sami etc. to replace Junaid, which will only make things worse.

Nonetheless, Junaid, Rahat and Irfan should all be given golden handshakes now. Surely, in a cricket mad country of 190 million people, there must be 2-3 pacers who can bowl at 140+ with some skill.

Mamoon Did you see Rumman Raees Bowl recently? With change in action he bowls at 136-143 Mark, Has a sharp Yorker and bundle of variations.

Bringing players like Junaid Khan,Umer Gul,Irfan in bowling is equalent to bringing players like Imran Farhat,Yasir Hameed,YK in batting. You have to look for future and not look for short term solutions. Inzi has been a disappointment so far. We need someone like Rashid Latif or Mohammad Waseem as our selectors who understand modern cricket and follow domestic cricket.

Look Hasan Ali got hit for 100 today - you need to have a balance in the team. Who will guide these youngsters on the field?

Haven't seen him bowl at all. Looking forward to his performance in the PSL.

His elbow straightened numerous times on replay. He might be called soon.

I'm not sure why his fans support him. He has no swing, pace or bounce. What is there to work with?

No loss if he is called. We already have plenty of left arm bowlers who can bowl well in one game then get hammered in the next.

Ppers are quite incredible. Team goes for over 7.5 an over and the bowler who goes for 6 is the culprit? Should have had two wickets in the last match and if he did he wouldn't have gone for 82. The no ball in Perth was a let down but as Arthur said its not a habit with him like it's with Wahab. I guess the guys talking about lack of movement didn't see his wickets in Melbourne. Given our current options he is miles ahead of what we have. It was not the bowling that lost us the ODI series it was the fielding and the lack of a finisher in batting.

Would you rather have a Junaid Khan who picks up 5 top-order wickets in his 4 matches or someone like a Sohail Khan or Muhammad Irfan or Rahat Ali who even struggle to remove tailenders.

And please don't suggest unknown and untested names like Ghulam Mudassir and Muhammad Irfan Jr.

PP'ers are acting as if we are spoilt for choice.

he has returned from his injury.. this is a comeback series for him and he has done quite decently .... cant expect too much from a comeback player... even UA did ok with the chances he got .. UA , MALIK and Junaid are the players who can be given a chance for another series.... azhar, hafeez, wahab all three has to go...

Australia brought in an untested Stanlake, can't Pak do the same?

There is nothing more frustrating then PPers pretending some nobody is the best thing since sliced bread.

Junaid was fine on this tour. Very decent comeback- and lots of fire in his belly. He is playing on gun barrel roads and was far far better than Wahab and arguably amir as well

I wasnt aware of bowling change? Thats good

See his bowling in BPL, Also recently in Pakistan List A, he has picked up plenty of wickets. Bowling at speeds of 136-143 and also using his different cutter variations, Added a sharp Yorker.

This is exactly what Hasan Ali is doing.

Junaid is a defensive option with the new ball. His lack of swing means that he relies completely on bowling a very tight line and length and his lack of pace means that he doesn't have much room to try other things. It worked a couple of times against the Aussie openers as they weren't willing to be a little patient up front and tried to force the pace.

His biggest strength still appears to be yorkers, which he can bowl quite well if he's in form, but I really don't think he should be considered as the main opening bowler alongside Amir. Surely we can use someone who swings the ball upfront, maximising chances of taking wickets.

Hasan Ali deserves to open the bowling ahead of Junaid as he literally does nothing with the ball. Junaid will be a decent first change bowler at best.

Just not good enough. Trundler with no skills. Recipe for disaster. I also believe this guy is a thrower. I hope he is dropped soon because the last thing we need is another bowler getting reported and subsequently banned for chucking. Ajmal and Hafeez have embarrassed us enough.

and what has Amir managed in this whole tour ? give this guy a little break!!!!!!!!!
Amir has disappointed more than anyone on this tour, overhyped cricketer. Junaid was ,is and will be an avg bowler but we are not spoilt for choices. This is the time we realise we are officially minnows against any quality bowling line up in bating and our bowling is just not up to the scratch either.
