"I firmly believe that Maulana (Fazlur R) Sahab is a true democratic man" : Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari

KARACHI: After weeks of deliberations, meetings with key opposition parties and consultation with several leaders, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on Wednesday decided not to actively participate in the sit-in that Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman is set to hold in Islamabad on Oct 31.

However, the PPP assured the rightwing party of its support, announcing that in Sindh, where it has its government, every possible measure would be taken to facilitate the JUI-F’s anti-government protest. On its part, the PPP will carry out its own campaign against the government separately through Awami Rabita Muhim or mass contact drive.

This was stated by PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari at Bilawal House while talking to reporters after hours-long meeting of the party’s core committee. He said the party did not, in principle, support politics of sit-ins though it supported the JUI-F’s call, noting that space for protests and dissent was shrinking since the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf came to power last year.

“We have decided to support the JUI-F’s call and we would do our best to facilitate his [Maulana Fazl’s] protest in Islamabad,” he said. “Our office-bearers in different cities would welcome their caravans and give them support for the march. We on the other side would keep our [mass contact] campaign on and in the first phase of our Awami Rabita Muhim we would hold a rally in Karachi on Oct 18 to mark the anniversary of 2007 Karsaz carnage. Then we would enter Punjab and pass through different cities of the province.”

Mr Bhutto-Zardari said: “Principally, PPP doesn’t support the idea that any elected government or the prime minister is thrown out only on the basis of protests held in the capital because it sets a negative trend.”

He added: “In democracy there is always a process to elect or oust a government. But unfortunately, this puppet government has eliminated all such options one after another. When there is no way left to bring change through parliament, judiciary, election commission or accountability body, then streets and sit-ins are left as the only option for the political parties.”

In reply to a question about his personal participation in the JUI-F protest in Islamabad, the PPP chairman said it would be “very difficult” to make it, though he offered support to Maulana Fazl on behalf of the PPP’s government in Sindh to facilitate the JUI-F workers in their journey towards the capital.

Answering another question, Mr Bhutto-Zardari called the politics of sit-ins against the democratic norms. However, he was quick to justify the JUI-F’s protest, blaming the ‘incompetence’ of the government for creating such opportunities.

He expressed the confidence that Maulana Fazl was leading the protest march only for better democratic culture and stability of the country.

“I firmly believe that Maulana Sahab is a true democratic man. He has history of playing an active role in pro-democracy campaigns and siding with true democratic forces. I can’t even think that he would be doing all this after getting some signal from any third force,” he added.

The PPP leader mentioned various protest campaigns being run across the country not only by political parties but also by other segments of society as a manifestation of “severe incompetence of the selected government which is more interested in appeasing its selectors”.

“It’s not only PPP or PML-N or Maulana Fazlur Rehman; you see everyone in this country is protesting. Whether it’s traders, labourers, farmers, doctors in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa or the recently formed PTM, all are staging protests against the government. If the government itself keeps the doors of parliament closed, stops opposition from initiating any legislation business and throws opposition leaders into jail, it would ultimately create space for protests,” he added.

I wasnt a fan of Billos drag act before, but with the addition of comedy, i find it quite funny.

Is that why Molana sahab wants to remove the democratically elected govt... ? Reason is simple, molana is out of a govt office after maybe 30 years... that’s the thing bothering him the most. Bilawal should be the last person to talk about democracy. Him and his party is a full time monarchy... they don’t even elect their party leaders democratically.

All of these "Democrats" hoping that Diesel can get Madrassa kids killed so that they and their families continue to Rob PK.

LARKANA: Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto said on Saturday that the party will hold a rally in Karachi on October 18.

Bilawal Bhutto made the statements during the rally held in Larkana today, where the PPP chairman criticised the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf led government.

Bilawal said that the puppet government should be sent home, adding that the current government has made people jobless within a year.

He further said that the selected government does not come into power on the basis of the vote of people.

The PPP chairman asked the participants of the rally if they will support him in the campaign against the government.

He further said that the party will not let the centre take over Karachi, the capital of Sindh.

Last week, Bilawal Bhutto said that the ‘selected government’ should step down before the end of the year.

Speaking on the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl march, the PPP chairman said that he is lending political and moral support to Fazl.

None of them can't talk about economy because they do not have anything to show after being in power for many years

None of them can't accuse the government of corruption because they all are corrupt after being in power for many years

None of them can't talk about health because none of them have anything show after being in power for many years

None of them can't talk about improving the image of Pakistan because none of them anything to show after being in power for many years

None of them can't talk about anything but few talking points such as "selected".

What are they marching for? what is the reason to give them support?

Waste of time.

PPP has become into a joke sadly.

the whole political game has turn into a joke

while the party in govt is trying to eliminate opposition of any kind, the opposing parties are joining hnads with lunatics and those

ECP issues show-cause notice to Bilawal, others for Larkana visit ahead of by-election

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) issued a show-cause notice to PPP Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari and other party leaders for visiting Larkana's PS-11 constituency ahead of a by-election.

Bilawal had visited Larkana on Saturday to spearhead the election campaign of his party’s candidate, Jamil Soomro, in the by-polls in the Sindh Assembly constituency PS-11, scheduled to be held on Oct 17. The PPP chief addressed party’s rallies in Nazar Mohalla and Pakistan Chowk areas of Larkana.

As per Para 17 of the ECP's Code of Conduct, no member of parliament can visit a constituency where by-elections are scheduled after the dates for the election have been notified.

In its notification dated October 12, ECP directed the PPP chairman to "explain [his] position" within a day and warned that failure to do so will result in disciplinary action.

"Being a member of the National Assembly, you were fully aware about the announcement of schedule of by-election," the notification read.

A similar notice was also issued to PPP leaders, who visited Larkana as well, including Nisar Khuhro, Sharjeel Memon, Syed Nasir Shah, Khursheed Ahmed Junejo, Sohail Anwar Siyal and others, with the same instructions.

The ECP had announced that by-elections be held in PS-11 after Grand Democratic Alliance's Moazzam Abbasi was deseated by the Supreme Court in August.

If Nawaz Sharif can act as the biggest hope of DEMOCRACY then of course Fazlu is a great democrat.

What is common between Nawaz, Fazlu, Zardari, Asfandyar, Achakzai? ALL these so called DEMOCRATS had their family monopoly over political parties. Their entire families were enjoying top posts in governments and now that people have started to reject them, they are hiding behind JAMHOORIAT (DEMOCRACY) in a typical mafia style to get power.

All these parties (except PPP to some extent) don't give a damn about democracy and only exploit this to extend their family rule and benefits.

Bilawal announces countrywide anti-govt protests

PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has announced holding anti-government protests across the country to “restore ‘real’ democracy in the country”.

“Our demand is to restore democracy [in the country],” he said in his address at a party rally in Karachi held to mark 12th anniversary of the 2007 Karsaz bomb blasts. “We don’t accept this artificial democracy… the democratic and socio-economic rights of the masses shall be restored… and for that Imran Khan has to resign.”

The PPP chairman said the incumbent government had lost its credibility in the masses as it did not fulfil any of its promises.

He said all opposition parties had decided that the government must step down.

“Our anti-government movement has started from Karachi,” he said, as he announced his plan for further protests across the country.

He said the PPP will protest in Thar on October 23, demonstrate in Kashmore on 26th whereas rallies in Punjab will begin from November 1.

“We will tour the entire country and when we return from Kashmir, you [Imran Khan] will have to go…We will expose your incompetence in every nook and corner of the country.”

The PPP chairman said his party had always played a constructive role for the supremacy of Parliament but to no avail.

“Imran Khan neither has the capability nor seriousness to govern a country of 200 million people,” he said. “Parliament has been side-lined and politicians have taken to the streets.”

Bilawal alleged that the incumbent rulers had compromised on the issue of Kashmir.

“Even a blind person can see Kashmir has been sold out, and CPEC has been slowed down,” he said. “The incompetent government should be removed for committing these crimes.”

Recalling the deadly Karsaz incident, Bilawal said despite terror threats, thousands came to welcome their former premier Benazir Bhutto on October 18, 2007 and “177 sacrificed their lives to catch the glimpse of their leader.”

The PPP leader said the 2018 elections were massively rigged, and even banned outfits were allowed to contest the polls.

“We don’t want our institutions to be controversial but when army personnel are deployed inside polling stations, their credibility will be questioned,” he said.

He also spoke about the recent PS-11 by-poll in Larkana, where his party’s candidate, Jamil Soomro, lost to GDA’s Moazzam Ali Abbasi.

“Security personnel deployed inside polling stations harassed our voters and pressured them to vote against PPP,” Bilawal said, announcing that the results will be challenged.

PPP now spreading doctored/edited videos.... Desperate times call for desperate measures I guess :91:

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari said on Monday that the anti-government movement had just begun and “many new things” would happen in the coming days.

Talking to reporters after meeting his father, former president Asif Ali Zardari, at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences, he said all important issues of the country should be resolved in parliament.

He said his party believed in democracy and the supremacy of parliament. But, he added, injustices and the policy of political victimisation by the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government had left no option for the opposition parties but to take to the streets.

He accused Prime Minister Imran Khan of weakening parliament, pressurising courts and strangulating the media. He also alleged that the government was using the National Accountability Bureau for victimisation of its political opponents.

Mr Bhutto-Zardari said all opposition parties had agreed on a single point that this “incapable, incompetent and selected prime minister cannot run the country”. He said the workers of all opposition parties, including the PPP and Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N), were participating in the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl’s Azadi march against the government.

Expressing dissatisfaction over medical facilities being provided to Asif Zardari by the government, he said the former president’s personal physician should be allowed to see him for the satisfaction of the family.

He said Mr Zardari should be provided same medical facilities which were being provided to PML-N supreme leader and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif. He said that for a number of times the PPP had contacted courts for getting better medical facilities for Mr Zardari.

The PPP chairman accused PM Khan of creating hurdles in the way of provision of better facilities to Mr Zardari.

Bilawal giving a speech at Maulana's rally :91: Nice mic btw.

This is desperation of the highest order from Billo. What a pathetic crook. I never liked BB as she was corrupt but she would never have been on the same stage as Diesel. I bet Mamoon and Major commenting on this.

Excuse my ignorance but why is he called Maulana "Diesel".

In Benazir’s era, Fazlur Rehman said that Islam prohibits female leadership and female leadership is against Sunnah, but when she nominated him as Minister of Petroleum he showed keen interest in receiving diesel quotas from all over the country, leaving him with the title of Maulana Diesel. After receiving the post from Benazir he remained silent forever and accept her as a female Prime Minister!

Thanks for this and sums up this fanatic perfectly.
