Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party chief Mahmood Khan Achakzai has urged all political stakeholders to pass a resolution to ensure supremacy of parliament, saying that some people want to make it ‘animals market’,

Speaking on the National Assembly (NA) floor, Achakzai said that Pakistan was passing through difficult times, underscoring the importance of ensuring supremacy of parliament.

“Today is the first day of the National Assembly, you all [PPP, PML-N and PTI] should now pass four resolutions that parliament will be the source of power for Pakistan’s internal and external affairs and no one else,” he said.

Mahmood Khan Achakzai further said that they will “salute” those who believes in the supremacy of the Constitution. “Those who embraced martyrdom in fight for democracy should be declared martyrs and judges who opposed martial law should be declared heroes,” he added.

“Believe it or not the PTI representatives have come to the parliament through the power of the people. Changing the public mandate is tantamount to treason,” he maintained.

Earlier in the day, PML-N’s Sardar Ayaz Sadiq was elected as the National Assembly speaker, while PPP’s Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah secured the slot of deputy speaker.

Sadiq became the 23rd speaker of the parliament’s lower house after he bagged 199 votes, defeating Sunni Ittehad Council’s (SIC) candidate Malik Aamir Dogar, who bagged 91 votes. Later, Shah secured 197 votes and defeated Junaid Akbar, who bagged 92 votes.

Outgoing speaker Raja Parvez Ashraf administered the oath to Sadiq, while the newly-elected speaker administered the oath to Shah.

The NA session was convened today to elect the speaker and deputy speaker during which opposition lawmakers chanted slogans against alleged rigging in the Feb 8 polls.

Its funny how people mock PTI and IK for not making alliances with other and playing politics and now that they are working with Diesel, PTI and IK are being criticized for compromising on their principles.
It's like damned if you do and damned if you don't but I heard that Imran Khan was not aware of it and was furious with Asad Qaiser for going to JUI for an alliance. I don't know how true this news is, but it seems plausible going by Imran Khan's history.

Something fishy going on behind the scenes !!!

Maulana first accuses Faiz of supporting the VONC in his first interview, the next day he takes it back and basically says Nadeem Anjum played a part in it.

Najam Sethi who happens to be a slave of the Sharif’s was also defending Faiz Hameed and that it was all Bajwa.
I don't know why Najam Sethi was defending Faiz and Faiz is no saint but the truth is that he was not DG ISI at the time of VONC in March 2022 and it was probably a slip of tongue by Moulana

Yh, I thought it was a bit cowardly of Moulana to name those who are no longer in any position of power. I think he was asked again in another interview and he indirectly mentioned Nadeem Anjum but couldn’t say his name.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the head of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), on Thursday warned the establishment against overstepping its boundaries, telling it to stay within its limits, Express News reported.

"We cannot be coerced into accepting the dominance of any institution. Let us remain a nation grounded in ethics and intellect," Fazl said while speaking to a party meeting in Lahore.

In an apparent reference to the military establishment, Fazl said, "We do not submit to the supremacy of any institution. Therefore, stay within your limits."

“The establishment must listen. This is the voice of Fazlur Rehman and also the voice of our party.”

Fazl said that people in villages and rural areas are often forced to vote for certain candidates against their will. "Our party is often told to withdraw our candidate for someone, money is also demanded from our candidates. If we present evidence, there will be no refuge for you,” he cautioned.

Expressing apprehension about the state of democracy, Maulana Fazlur Rehman remarked, "Regrettably, I see this country heading towards the situation in Bengal; the Parliament is merely a symbolic institution, and democracy is losing its ground."

Challenging those who label their struggle against democracy, he asserted, "We are fighting against those who declare democracy as infidelity, but we are being cornered. If Parliament continues to be formed through rigging, it will lose its significance."

JUI-F chief emphasised their adherence to the concept of democracy defined by senior religious scholars and questioned the deviation from democratic norms.

"The Parliament is being brought into existence according to Western interests; do not expect anything from the rulers; they have buried their dignity before their demise," he remarked.

He questioned the credibility of America in advocating for human rights after its actions in Afghanistan and Palestine.

"Our manifesto states that we become the voice of the oppressed; I told Shehbaz Sharif, join the opposition, lest you become a target of our movement," he added.

He concluded by saying that their mandate was not rigged by other political parties but by the establishment.

He has gone crazy with anger due to not getting a seat in the National Assembly.

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Monday filed for an investigation into a notification of an “unknown” woman on the party’s reserved seat in the National Assembly by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

The electoral authority issued the notification, bearing number F6 of 2024, for the success of the said unknown woman on the NA reserved seat from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Reacting to this, Fazl submitted a request seeking the suspension of the notification and investigation into the matter.

“Sadaf Sultan is neither our party (JUI-F) member nor named in our list. Notification for Sadaf Ehsan should be suspended and Ms Hina Bibi should be notified [on the reserved seat],” Fazl’s request stated.

He also raised a question of whether the notification for Sadaf was issued by mistake or there was a conspiracy behind the matter.

The ECP last week allocated reserved seats in the NA and all four provincial assemblies.

It may be noted that the reserved seats were distributed among other parties as the electoral watchdog ruled against allocating them to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) backed Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC).

According to an ECP notification, eight women reserved seats in NA from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are given to PML-N’s Sobia Shahid, Ghazala Anjum, Shela Bano and Shaheen while PPP’s Asma Alamgir and Naeema Kanwal and Naeema Kishwar and Sadaf Ehsan of JUI-F.

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) has been urged to postpone tomorrow’s public gathering in Quetta, amid a ‘threat alert’ issued by the law enforcement agencies.

JUI-F is all set to flex its political muscles in Quetta on April 20 (tomorrow). The public gathering would be attended by the JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman.

Unidentified terrorists want to target the JUI-F public gathering, the DC said in an official handout, adding that JUI-F provincial chief Maulana Abdul Wasay is also informed about the threat alert.

In the official handout, the district government maintained that the recent wave of terrorism could not be ruled out. The deputy commissioner recalled the Pishin blast on February 7, a day before elections, that killed 17 people and the martyrdom of a Levies personnel last month. It was also a terrorist attack.

“It is requested to kindly postpone the public gathering/jalsa at Pishin district on April 20 keeping in view the threat alerts,” it added.

Last year, at least 42 were killed and more than 111 injured in a bomb blast that took place in Khar tehsil of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bajaur district during the Workers’ Convention of JUI-F.

Three Pakistan Army helicopters took part in the rescue mission and 10 critically wounded persons were shifted to Peshawar’s Lady Reading Hospital.

These terrorists are the ones created by Fazlur Rehman, who are now biting the hand that fed them.

As warned by many nothing lasts forever and abuse of power and use of violence has consequences. Well apparently Bajwa has been carrying around a Koran and swearing on it that he didn't overthrow IK. This blatant lie shows that either the guy has gone mad or still continues to lie about his role, which everyone across the political divide has attested to. Munir thinks he is God today but as Bajwas experience shows your end will be painful. The plan is for him for 10 years but Allah has other ideas.

Fazl demands fresh election, without ‘establishment’s interference’

JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Wednesday demanded the incumbent government to resign and holding of fresh general elections without the ‘interference of establishment’, ARY News reported.

Addressing a press conference here, Maulana Fazl said that his party will fully support the environment for negotiations ‘if created’, noting that it is not possible for the establishment to be both the “servant and the ruler”.

He emphasised that the mindset that nothing can happen without the establishment’s consent needs to be changed, demanding that the government resign and fresh elections be held, with the establishment staying away from the electoral process.

Qamar Bajwa was behind PTI-led govt’s ouster: Sheikh Rasheed

Awami Muslim League chief Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed claimed there is no doubt that former Army Chief General (retd) Qamar Bajwa was ‘behind’ the toppling of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government.

In an exclusive interview with ARY News, the senior politician said that he knew that the Imran Khan-led PTI government was bound to be toppled. “The Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan had informed (to vote against Imran Khan in the no-confidence motion) me,” Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed added.

“I told Imran Khan that the MQM-P made it clear that the government is bound to be toppled as signaled by the real forces,” he added.

The host asked as if General Bajwa was involved in toppling the PTI government. “There is no doubt about it,” the former interior minister replied.

“No one has entered in politics of Pakistan, including me, without (backing) of the Gate No. 4,” he claimed.

Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed said that he does not see dialogue between the PTI and the government.

“I am not seeing successful dialogue and neither hopeful for it,” former federal minister said in his exclusive interview.

“Initially they were not holding talks, now they will not accept the conditions set for dialogue,” he said. “Two months after Eid are crucial, seeing decisive development by August,” he further said. “There might be some new to come on surface,” he added. “This government is a show off”.

He said that Nawaz Sharif has been better than Shehbaz and ‘less corrupt’.

“Shehbaz has only been for signing. Nawaz Sharif has not been in good books and could not aspire for it”.

Fazl says state institutions' writ absent in tribal areas

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Emir Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said state institutions have lost their writ in tribal areas.

He said that the martyrdom of JUI leader Maulana Mirza Jan in the assassination attack is a stain on the performance of the government and institutions.

He added that the growing unrest in the tribal area and the target killing of the scholars has created a sense of insecurity in the nation.

He said, “the security agencies are making the country a republic by interfering in every issue except security. It is clear from the law and order situation that the government and state institutions should expose the killers of Maulana Mirza Jan and the facts of the nation.”

JUI-F expresses 'serious reservations' on PTI, shies away from joining any alliance

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that the party's Majlis-e-Shura — top decision-making body — has decided against becoming part of any alliance for now, while expressing "serious reservations" over the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) amid reports that the two parties were on a verge of joining hands against the coalition government led by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).

Fazl's party has been holding meetings with the former ruling party after they both termed the February 8 elections "rigged" and also voiced shared concerns about the federal government's policies on the economy and the menace of terrorism in the country.

The Imran Khan-founded party and JUI-F have jointly opposed the Centre's newly-announced anti-militancy operation, Azm-e-Istehkam, raising concerns that parliament was not taken into confidence on the matter.

In a meeting with senior PTI leader Asad Qaiser last week, Fazl agreed that the military operation was not the solution to the problems.

They also agreed on fulfilling the role of opposition in the National Assembly together, and also constituting a political committee to address various issues between them and formulate a political strategy.

Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman claimed late on Saturday that the PTI was ready to dissolve its Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and resign from all assemblies for fresh elections

“This is a positive approach and we welcome it,” Fazl told reporters at his residence in Islamabad.

The PTI or any leader did not address or comment on the claim on social media as of Saturday night.

He also reported progress in contacts with the PTI and said his party formed a committee for formal negotiations to bury the hatchet.

“PTI and JUI had a bitter past and normalisation is a priority for future cooperation. This will lay the foundation for moving ahead,” he said.

He detailed that senior leader Kamran Murtaza would lead the committee while other members would be Maulana Lutfur Rehman, Fazal Ghafoor, Maulana Amjad and Fazal Ghafoor.

Fazl blasted the government for keeping PTI founder Imran Khan and other party leaders in prison.

He also reiterated his opposition to Operation Azm-i-Istehkam and claimed the people did not support it as they had suffered a lot due to previous military operations.

“People will not leave their houses again as they had to flee Swat and tribal areas due to operations and would live in camps,” he recalled.

Fazl called on the establishment to review its policies, saying the country could not continue to run if the current situation prevailed.

“They (the establishment) have no capability to deal with political matters. They want to make the Parliament and civil institutions as slaves and elected representatives as their servants,” he said.

“If you want to impose an emergency, launch parties of your own choice and make the Parliament subservient, we will not allow this,” he asserted.

Addressing the establishment, Fazl said: “You are creating a situation like Bangladesh in two provinces (KP and Balochistan) to separate from the country. The situation is now out of your hands and control. Martial law and emergency will not work now.”

PTI better not repeat the mistakes of Jan 2023. He is not reliable and is likely acting as an establishment tool. PTI suffered very long and still have a KP govt under their belt. Do not let it go.

PTI seeks JUI-F support in anti-government campaign

The PTI has sought in-house cooperation from JUI-F, stating that the two sides can make things difficult for the government if they work together in Parliament.

According to sources, a PTI delegation met with a JUI-F delegation in Islamabad on Friday.

The discussions also touched upon past meetings between the two parties. Maulana Fazlur Rehman stated that the JUI-F can respond to PTI’s proposals after consultations.

Sources added that both parties proposed forming committees to enhance further cooperation between them, and also discussed efforts to bridge the gaps between the two parties.

The PTI delegation included PTI Chairman Gohar Ali, Asad Qaiser, Shbaz Faraz, and Rauf Hasan. The JUI-F delegation included Secretary General Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, Maulana Lutfur Rehman, Aslam Ghauri, and Maulana Amjad Khan. Kamran Murtaza also participated via video link from Quetta.

JUI-F spokesperson Aslamm Ghauri stated that the meeting was an introductory one, which took place in a “pleasant atmosphere.” The opposition alliance in Parliament will be strengthened, he added.

Ghauri clarified that the perception about the alliance was not “entirely accurate, as the two parties are not part of a grand alliance.” He emphasized that both JUI-F and PTI are opposition parties in Parliament and they would also work on the “issue of the PM’s powers.”

PTI spokesperson Raoof Hasan said that it was the first meeting of the committees and they agreed to continue the dialogue. He mentioned that they also discussed cooperation on “important legislative matters” in Parliament. Hasan expressed the belief that “with determination, one can achieve anything.”

Fazlur Rehman condemns violence in Islamabad, offers mediation role with PTI

The head of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F), Maulana Fazlur Rehman, condemned the recent violent incidents in Islamabad and expressed his willingness to mediate with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party if they maintain communication.

Speaking to the media in Larkana on Wednesday, Rehman stressed the importance of consensus in national matters, particularly the Kachi Canal project, stating that such issues should be addressed through mutual agreement and consultation with all provinces.

Rehman reiterated his party’s stance on provincial autonomy, underscoring that his party has always advocated for it from the very beginning. He also noted that actions on significant matters must be carried out in consultation with provincial governments, and no province should be forced into protests.

He further highlighted the need for continuous dialogue with PTI, stating that while he is willing to play a mediating role, the party has not remained consistently in contact.

Rehman added that he was not referring to the leadership of PTI but rather to the party's workers, who are generally committed to their cause. According to him, a good leader can guide their followers in the right direction and temper their enthusiasm without resorting to violence.

Reflecting on past political movements, Rehman recalled that during the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) protests, including the Azadi March, more than 1.5 million people gathered in Islamabad without any violent incidents. He stressed that it is essential to show the workers the path of struggle without inciting violence.

Addressing the prevailing instability in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, Rehman criticised the provincial governments for their lack of seriousness in dealing with the situation, which has led to unrest in both provinces.

He warned that if the government remains fixated on incarcerating political leaders and creating a cycle of releasing and re-arresting them, the country could descend into anarchy.

He also raised questions about the PTI’s intentions following their announcement to march toward D-Chowk, which prompted the government to impose strict security measures. Despite these efforts, PTI successfully reached Islamabad, where violence erupted, which Rehman firmly condemned.

In response to a question regarding the religious seminaries draft discussed during the PDM era, Rehman pointed out that the proposal had been developed after extensive consultations with key political figures, including Asif Ali Zardari, Bilawal Bhutto, and Nawaz Sharif.

He expressed concern over the current objections to the draft and promised to discuss the issue more openly in the near future.

Finally, Rehman noted that the current political turmoil is a direct result of the February 8 elections and reiterated his earlier advice to PTI not to support the 26th Constitutional Amendment.

JUI gives govt December 8 deadline over Madrasah Registration Bill

The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) has issued an ultimatum to the federal government, demanding the passage of the Madrasah Registration Bill by December 8.

The party’s warning follows President Asif Zardari’s rejection of the bill, sending it back to the government with objections. A special session of the National Assembly is expected to be convened next week to address the issue.

JUI-F spokesperson Aslam Ghouri revealed that the party has been informed of international pressure against the registration of religious seminaries (madrasahs). Further fueling the tension, JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman expressed his concerns regarding the President’s veto to Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), during a recent meeting.

Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri issued a strong statement, asserting that the government must pass the bill; otherwise, the party will march on Islamabad. He emphasized their preference for a peaceful resolution but underscored the seriousness of their threat. Haidri also claimed that assurances for the bill’s passage were given by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

Adding to the escalating pressure, JUI-F leader Hafiz Hamdullah took to X, condemning the President’s rejection of the bill as a “declaration of war” and a “slap in the face of parliament.”

Hamdullah questioned whether the President’s actions were aimed at creating difficulties for the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government and held the President, Prime Minister, and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari responsible for the bill’s rejection. The situation remains tense, with the December 8th deadline looming large.

Fazlur Rehman rejects establishment's rule, calls for unity against injustice

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has strongly criticised the government and the establishment, declaring that the current governance system is under the establishment's control, which he vowed not to accept, Express News reported.

Speaking at the Israel Murdaabad Conference in Peshawar on Sunday, he reaffirmed his party’s support for the Palestinian cause and denounced Western powers for historical and ongoing atrocities.

Addressing a large gathering, Rehman stated that the conference sent a strong global message of solidarity with Palestinians and their rights. “We stand firmly on our principled position. The West, which committed massacres during World Wars I and II, continues to kill Muslims in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Palestine,” he said.

He accused the US and Western nations of being the "murderers of humanity," citing the deaths of 50,000 women and children in Palestine. He questioned, “If Saddam Hussein was executed for military operations in one city, why can’t Netanyahu be held accountable for similar crimes?”

Moreover, the JUI-F chief criticised Pakistan's past and present policies, particularly under former President General Pervez Musharraf, for aligning with the US and providing military bases and air corridors for operations in Afghanistan. He warned, “If the current government continues to follow such policies, they will find JUI workers standing firmly in opposition.”

He further accused the establishment of being disconnected from the people. He questioned why the country's leadership lacks the courage to openly support Palestinian rights while Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi openly backs Israel.

Rehman urged the public to reject the establishment’s rule, claiming, “This is not the government of the people but of the establishment. Pakistan belongs to all of us, not just a few institutions. If today’s rulers deny Pakistan’s ideology, it is our duty to uphold it.” He alleged that the current leadership had betrayed the country’s founding principles, warning that the consequences of their actions would harm the nation.

Rehman further highlighted his opposition to the proposed 26th Amendment, stating that had it passed in its original form, it would have dismantled parliament, the constitution, and key institutions. He claimed that through his party’s efforts, the amendment was reduced from 34 clauses to 22, removing several damaging provisions.

On the topic of religious seminaries, he stated, “Madrasas will be registered but not subordinated. Agreements made in 2010 are being violated, but we will ensure our rights are protected.”

The JUI chief declared that his party stands ready to mobilise if necessary. “If we decide to march on Islamabad, our supporters will not waver. You have tested us before; we are not intimidated by threats,” he said, addressing government agencies.

He also cautioned against attempts to divide religious scholars. “Do not try to create discord among clerics by bringing certain individuals to media platforms. Interference in religious seminaries will not be tolerated,” he warned.

Rehman reiterated that agreements regarding financial systems, curricula, and administrative frameworks of madrasas must be honoured. “Religious seminaries will be registered with the education department but will not be made subordinate,” he asserted.

He concluded by calling on his supporters to stay prepared for future actions. “We will call for action when the time is right. Our battle is for Pakistan’s stability, ideology, and survival,” he stated.

He concluded by calling on his supporters to stay prepared for future actions. “We will call for action when the time is right. Our battle is for Pakistan’s stability, ideology, and survival,” he stated.

Fazl rejects govt's proposals on seminary bill

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Monday rejected any proposed amendments to the madrassa bill by the government, stating that his party is unwilling to accept any of their suggestions.

Speaking at a press conference in Charsadda district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), Fazlur Rehman said that if the government were to present any amendments, they [JUI-F] would not even consider them. He asserted that the government’s proposals would be rejected outright.

Fazlur Rehman also questioned why the President returned the madrassa bill, which had already been approved by the National Assembly and the Senate, with objections.

He noted that if the President could sign other bills into law, there should be no reason to send the madrassa bill back with objections.
Addressing the government's claims regarding the affiliation of madrasahs with the Ministry of Education, Fazlur Rehman clarified that the bill provides madrasahs with complete autonomy to affiliate with any federal institution, whether under the 1860 Act or the Ministry of Education.

The JUI-F chief also expressed concerns about attempts to create divisions among religious scholars and madrasas over the bill. He stressed that there was consensus among all scholars and madrasahs regarding the bill.

He mentioned that a significant meeting, called by Mufti Taqi Usmani and the president of the Federation of Madrassahs, is scheduled for December 17, where a unified decision on the bill will be made.

Fazlur Rehman advised the government not to politicise the matter, as the issue is about law and regulation. He criticised the government’s attempt to bring madrasahs under an executive order, which he described as an attempt to control them.

A day earlier, Maulana Fazlur Rehman has warned that if his party decides to march to the federal capital, the bullets of opponents may run out, but his party's resolve will not waver.

"We are not mummy-daddy types to flee. Those in uniform and agencies should listen and stop threatening us. Stay within your limits; no one is tougher than us," he asserted. He said his party had been deceived, defrauded, and betrayed about the religious seminaries' bill.

"The agreement has been violated. This is not a government of the people, but of the establishment. We are not the ones rejecting Pakistan's ideologythe 'establishment' is. You have chosen a path to destroy and dismantle Pakistan, a country to which you have contributed neither its creation nor its preservation."

JUI-F seeks PTI's assistance for legislation on seminaries bill

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F (JUI-F) has sought assistance from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for legislation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly in the context of the Societies Registration (Amendment) Bill.

JUI-F Senator Kamran Murtaza held a meeting with PTI leader Asad Qaiser where they discussed the ongoing political situation in the country and the issues related to the seminaries bill.

The meeting also involved discussions about bilateral political cooperation. During the conversation, Asad Qaiser asked Murtaza what assistance PTI could provide in addressing the issues related to the seminaries.

Murtaza responded that PTI should first hold internal consultations to decide whether it wants to work with JUI-F. He also pointed out the contradictory statements made by PTI leaders regarding JUI-F and seminaries.

Senator Murtaza further stated that if PTI is willing to assist, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly should legislate on seminaries in light of the Societies Registration (Amendment) Bill, as the scope of the bill, if approved by centre, would only limited to Islamabad.

He added that JUI-F would also engage with provincial governments and political leaderships in Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan to push for similar legislation.
