Hi people I have just started playing a bit of league cricket and require a relatively low budget bat as bat pretty low at the moment as I am mainly a bowler however enjoy batting and hopefully will get to move up the order eventually.

I am mainly a back foot player and favour leg side so do bear this in mind when recommending a bat, I have been reading through countless threads but still can't figure out what I should get. Had a look on eBay and I'm pretty good at finding a bargain and have kind of figured I will look for a second hand bat with not a lot of use but would be a high grade bat.

After reading through some of the threads I tried to look for some bats and found a millichamp & hall amplus which has only been used in the nets and start price is around £150. To be quite honest I will not be looking to spend that sort of money until I am batting at number 7 or above.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance.

if u're getting m&h amplus for 150 pounds, then definitely get that, m&h bats are awesome.....

Salaam Sarmad I had a feeling you would say that been keenly reading your threads and you seem to know a lot about bats anyway even though it's a bargain (the person has original receipt from millichamp) the main reason I stated that in my OP was to show that I could get a bat cheap just need to do my research as people on eBay sell genuine stuff however you need to know who you are buying from.

I just can't justify buying it when I'm currently batting at 10 LOL. I am not a 10 batsman but you know how crickets works its all about connections but I'm hopeful of moving up eventually and as nearly all the games they are playing in the league are 20 overs I don't get a lot of batting if any.

I have seen a few other bats too which are SS Ton Gold edition, Adidas Libro, GM Halo DXM 2012, Gray Nicolls Powerbow and also Gray Nicolls Oblivion most of these bats are excellent with some only been used in net a few times and at the moment they are likely to be sold a lot cheaper than Millichamp so what would you recommend out of the ones stated?

By the way your collection of bats is simply superb and must say quite an expensive hobby LOL.

Bear in mind mainly back foot and favour legside play.

thanks for your compliments brother, but i don't know much about bats, but still would try my level best to help you out.
You said you can get some other notable brands, so i'd say that millichamp and hall is definitely gonna be better than most of the other bats in terms of performance, but it does not mean that the other bats are gonna be just crap, obviously they're gonna rock as well, even to some people they might be more appealing than M&H, so i'd suggest you to have all those bats in your hands and then you would be able to decide a bit easily.
And as you mentioned you're a back foot leg sidish player, bro any bat with higher middle is preferred for back foot players because while playing back foot shots most of the balls come higher on one's blade, so a bat with a higher middle is said to be the better one than the lower one, but i have a different opinion regarding this, i mean you can't play all the shots on back foot neither a bat with higher middle is gonna help the hell out for you, so its just a minor difference, very very minor indeed, so i'd say, skip this point out of your mind, just pick up a few bats that are in your budget, and the one that feels the best, just go with it, that's all......
And make it even more easier for you, i'd say, M&H, SS TON, Powerbow, Oblivion, GM Halo and then Adidas.......Hope this helps.
BTW: Many thanks for liking my collection of bats.....

Brilliant well the SS ton sold for around £90 and the Powerbow 5* is still running, it has a small crack on toe but is currently at auction for £15 inc postage I think I might have a bid on this as I think it is a good start off bat considering how much I will get to bat and once I move up order will treat myself to some better bats. I'll keep my eyes peeled and if I see a bar that might be half decent will get your opinion on it.

Sarmad what do you make of a MB Malik Sher Amin grade 1 bat and what price do they normally sell for?

Ok will bear that in mind considering you have used some of the top bats already so will give it a miss.

indian ss
pakistani ca
