What's new

Pakistan (201/6) defeat Bangladesh (144) comprehensively by 57 runs to clinch an unassailable 2-0 lead in the 3-match T20I series

We have a two month break after this series. Fast bowlers like Rauf and Naseem will get much needed rest if they remain away from T20 leagues.

Pakistan just need one more solid middle order batter

Hussain Talat instead of Shadab.

The openers and number 3 are fine.

Pakistan opening stocks:

1. Fakhar
2. Saim
3. Sahibzada
4. Yasir Khan
5. Muhammad Naeem
6. Khwaja Nafay
7. Faiq Butt

Nawaz and Harris can open too…they are making their positions in the middle order MashaAllah

Nafay has no real experience at the position you need him to bat (4-6)

Talat has played here all his life, and he’s been very good here
Talat is an extremely limited batsman. You will see it for yourself if Hesson is crazy enough to play him.

If Nafay has to get into the team, no 4 or 5 is his best possible position. Opening slot is occupied by Ayub, Fakhar, Farhan.. No 3 by Haris and he is a keeper too..

So Nafay has to play either at 4 or 5. I personally don't trust Talat at all. He has been given enough chances in the past.

For now;

1. Saim
2. Farhan
3. Fakhar
4. Salman
5. Hassan
6. Khushdil/Niazi
7. Harris

8-11 should be proper bowlers.

You guys need to let players who have matured since their last outings for Pakistan have a fair chance.

The Sahibzada you see now isn’t the Sahibzada who played for Pakistan 7 years ago. It’s two very different people. Talat is very underrated. I’ve seen him a lot in the domestics. He can do a job for Pakistan at 5

Why are we even discussing Nafay ? He didn't play PSL and has a poor domestic record.

Sahibzada made his debut vs Aus in UAE under Mickey. Even then he had no issues in hitting sixes but played a lot of dots in between. He failed because of UAE wickets and he lacked confidence. There is no technical difference from then and now in case of Farhan. He will still struggle against a 145 kph bowler who balls short or on a slow wicket that assists spinners.

Talat cannot perform at internationals because he lacks talent. He is late against any 140 kph pacer and most of his scoring areas are behind square. He is an inferior version of Shan Masood.

The ticket prices for this series is varying between Rs 200, 300, 400, 500, 2000 whereas the ticket prices during the PSL varied between Rs 650, 1000, 1250, 1500, 2000, 2500, 3000, 3500, 4000, 4500, 5000, 5500, 6000 upto 10000.

Ticket prices is definately a big factor behind low crowd attendances in the PSL vs the two T-20 games in Lahore against Bangladesh despite the oppressive heat.

I doubt the PCB and the Franchises make that much from gate money anyways especially when the bulk of the matches are sparingly attended therefore why not keep the PSL ticket prices the same as the PCB does for international bilateral games, surely full houses for daily games will give our league a very good look and will put the PCB in a strong position to negotiate with broadcasters going forward.

Pakistan should not be happy with this performance, they should have scored 250 runs given the start they got. The batsmen need to work on their death hitting against yorkers and slower deliveries, the English, Australians, South African's and even Indians have answers to these deliveries and can play the reverse paddle, paddle or walk down the track and make the yorkers into full tosses. Pakistan will not get away with these screw ups against the stronger teams.

Also the bowlers need to keep it tight in the opening overs and not concede 10-15 runs per over in the opening overs.

Hesson needs to take the likes of Shadab, Faheem and Nawaz to task for the poor death overs batting. Pakistan should have scored 250 runs given the start they got. I want this team to be self introspective, hungry and never satisfied.

This game has better crowd than most PSL matches. Low crowd attendance in PSL was due to boycott then ?
International cricket is international cricket. I was away during the whole PSL season. Domestic cricket like psl/ipl is not interesting to many.

Disappointed to see this post from you mentioning Talat. :/
I think you guys will be pleasantly surprised by Talat. He’s a much improved player.

He’s strong against spin, plus he has shots that are needed for the back end against death bowling. This was clearly lacking today and BD executed their fuller ball death bowling plan excellently. Nawaz and Shadab kept searching for the slot ball but were continuously stifled by the yorker+low full tosses.

You will need a guy who plays behind the wicket too on such occasions.

Is it just me or are there others who can't stand Ramiz's reactive commentary. A batsman and a bowler is defined by him on one delivery i.e., if a batsman hits a boundary than he becomes a great player, if he gets out then he announces that batsman as a flop. Same goes for bowlers. I hardly see him being an expert commentator.

They are all crap commentators

Even Haysman is just good for his style and delivery, he also lacks game sense and what’s going on. I clocked this during the PSL. Ramiz, Sohail and Haysman are guys who didn’t advance in their cricketing sense since the year 2007 at max. There was so many times when Guptil was sitting with them and contextualising the batters thoughts whilst these chachus were just calling batters hackish or tailenderish.

The best commentators in the PSL:

1. Lisa (she is definitely glued on)
2. Guptil
3. Cork
4. Bazid (he’s the best from Pakistan calling the game and situation)
5. Haysman (just for adding the dramatic tone)
6. Alistair Cook (funniest commentator)

Not gonna lie I actually really enjoyed Athar’s commentary today when,

A) Bangladesh were getting smashed by Farhan and Harris. He was clearly feeling the heat himself

B) when Bangladesh were going at a rapid pace in the first 2-3 overs

Great win and a much needed one... Pakistan should try bench in the next game... Farhan was great and carried his form like a star...

I would prefer Ramiz to not commentate anymore. He is too compromised and overly biased now. He was gritting his teeth when he had to compliment Sahibzada’s innings.

The funniest thing was him saying Saim played a good knock before getting out when Saim had scored 4 runs only.

Amir Sohail in first T20: “Pakistan shouldn’t play aggressive cricket, they should play smart cricket”

Like, what do you mean by that? What’s smart cricket? They say things which if questioned, eventually it will boil down to a timid approach that was played by their favourites

Smart cricket doesnt work in t20.

In odi and test it works not in t20. Not enough time to target a weaker bowler, or take your time to get settled or knock it around to keep the scoreboard ticking

You forgot Mark Nicholas. The best of the lot.
