The India-Pakistan match in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is scheduled for February 23 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium123.

Overwhelming majority of cricket pundits including Nasser Hussain have termed India as firm favorites for this clash but at the same time some think otherwise. Former Pakistani pacer Mohammad Amir predicts Pakistan will have the upper hand in the upcoming match, citing Pakistan's recent series wins against Australia and South Africa. He acknowledges India's historical success in major tournaments but believes the team is currently under pressure due to recent setbacks He also noted concerns about Jasprit Bumrah's fitness.

Pakistan: Shaheen Shah Afridi leads a strong pace attack, while Mohammad Rizwan and Salman Ali Agha provide stability in the middle order. Concerns linger over Babar Azam’s form and Fakhar Zaman’s consistency.

Pakistan are depleted. They don't have Saim and Fakhar. Big blows.

If full teams were available, this could've been a classic game.

They will lose the game in the first training session both teams have on the same venue, with all the Pak players chasing after the Indians looking for pictures with them.
 
Hope Fakhar will get installed a two feet injection and play. We must field him in positions where he doesn’t need to sprint
 
I guess Usman Khan and Kamran Ghulam to come in place of Fakhar and Saud and open. Babar to move to 3. Imam to be Fakhar's replacement in the squad.

Ridiculous. Even if you discount Saim and Fakhar due to them being injured (I hope you don't think Rohit, on current form, is better than either), you still have Rizwan who is clearly a better keeper-batter than Rahul; Shaheen, Naseem and Haris, all of whom are better than India's current, uninjured pace bowlers; and Salman Agha is superior to Jadeja and Axar.

A combined team looks like this:

3) Babar
4) Rizwan
5) Iyer
6) Salman
7) Pandya
8) Jadeja
9) Shaheen

Rizwan is not better than KL.

KL trumps Rizwan in all metrics (avg, SR etc).

Shami is better than the Pak trio. Just look at his record lol. Pak trio have been consistently blasted including in the CT opener.

Arshdeep is also better than the Pak trio and has actually delivered an ICC trophy win unlike the Pak trio.

Salman Agha is not a superior bowler to Jadeja/Axar even if is a better batsman.

Rohit's ODI form is still better than Fakhar/Saim etc. Don't confuse with test form. Rohit is an ODI ATG.

Plus Babar over Kohli lol.

Pakistan lose is not good for india ,now they will Play like Cornered tigers.

We need to play first 10 over very carefully against Shaheen and Naseem.

If we can survives for first 10 over than we can win. My biggest fear is they can reduced us 20/3 in PP .

Usman should replace Saud. If fakhar is injured then Kamran walks in.

Rest there is nothing we can do. Haris is not gonna get dropped and also naseem. So go with the same bowling line up

Now things change.

With Pakistan having lost the first match and hurt their run rate, I expect a spirited effort from them as it’s going to be a do or die.

Dubai is going to be a close and hard fought match. Anyone can win and Pakistan’s desperation is not a good thing for us.

Local media already in tripedation if Pakistan is defeated in 2nd game also. What should the management do that was a minnow of early 90s like start while chasing in an ICC tournament. Big task ahead with team crippled with injuries and semi fit players.

Haris Rauf has a higher econ. against top nations and is usually a cannon fodder but somehow the fascination with him for any captain is puzzling. On the other hand Hasnain is also a weak bowler so was it a deliberate ploy by selectors to pick certain players that starting Xi remains untouchable.

Some deep connections there regarding playing XI. What team should be played on 23rd in alien lands of Emirates against arch rivals. Literally short of options for playing 11

Pakistan National squad departs from Karachi for Dubai

Pakistan cricket team will play a major Champions Trophy 2025 match against India on February 23rd.

The Pakistan team will participate in a practice session in Dubai tomorrow.
 
What should be the team strategy for India game, the best option is to win the toss bat first and score 300ish , to get the confidence and to bring India under pressure, otherwise no chance
 
Pakistan should play with Regular openers, even Imam and Abdullah combo is better if Fakhar is Injured.
 
Expect it to be a good competitive match. Pak batters must be hurt after yesterday's humiliation. Expecting a do or die attitude from Pakistan team.

A desperate, hurt Pakistan playing with daler and badmashi is the scariest sight in all sport.

After this beating by NZ, they'll throw out all that data nonsense and just play that aggressive, devil may care Lagaan paindu style cricket that knock anyone out. India must be very wary

Indian bowling too strong for Pakistan abject batting.

Shami Jadeja Kuldeep Pandya , that's 40 tough overs and Axar is unknown for Pakistan

We are hoping to out bat you.
Generally in ODI cricket we are dependent on Shami and Bumrah being fit. Here Boom is out and Shami is mint old and not the same athlete anymore so we’re not expecting a lot from our bowling. It’s well balanced but mediocre.

KL is the most meek, gutless loser I have had the misfortune of seeing in a cricket match. Rizwan destroys him for guts if not for anything else.

Kohli has as many ICC trophies as Pak in it's entire 50+ year history.

Rizwan and KL have same number of ICC trophies - ZERO.

KL atleast has some Asia Cups and overseas test wins.

His biggest match against Pak was the Mohali 2011 SF, an actual WORLD CUP.

The PMs of both teams came. Kohli actually took Misbah's catch and ended the most IMPORTANT Ind-Pak match of all time and then went on to have a nice cameo in the final and won the WC (which Pak has not done in the last 30+ years).

Rizwan the loser has even lower achievements than KL lol. Snail batsan that keeps getting Pak knocked out always. AC 2022 final masterclass, India WC 24 masterclass lol.

The Pakistan squad has arrived in Dubai.

The national team will begin practice tomorrow.

with the squad selected , not enough spinners and asking struggling Babar to open .. all this ifs and buts going into an ICC tounrament... Pak vs India rivalry is long gone away they are beaten on paper and on field so easily.... The country that runs a complete FC competition loses against associate teams even to USA goes to show they are not that serious about cricket or winning , just the delusional and passionate fans think they are still the team of the 90s well they are actually playing the cricket model of 90s ... No team in this era scores 22-2 in first 10 overs chasing 320 in their home soil and look at todays game Bangladesh lost half their side but still scored 40-5 in 10 overs.

Rizwan and Babar are the two biggest culprits , the ICC rankings and their stat pads has got into their heads too much that they are ok with to play and drama however they want, no questions raised against them... I hope their pushed back and dropped for what they have done quite recently , Rizwan ( starting from asia cup final 2023 and keeps going )

Rizwan in the tri-nation series final took 12 balls to score a single ( seriously ) and ytd scored 3 of 14 balls off the new ball with fielding restrictions and when there is no real demon in the pitch.. Pak should be done with this dramaqueen...

send these stat padders Babar , Rizwan , Shaheen , Haris Rauf home forever.. These guys are not Sachins and Wasim Akrams and have that superstar tag for simply achieving so less not even there be for comparison...

Build a new young ODI team under new young foreign coach... so that these guys doesnt have a chance to make their friends 11 and have a qudrat ka nizam coach like Saqlain who will say nothing and put away someone like Kirsten and Gillespie ...

No foreign coach will touch us with a barge pole after how our board treated JG and GK, probably all orchestrated by Aaqib. As long as you have people on the board who place themselves above the team, nothing will ever change...

If the bowling is up for it, we beat India. If it's a 250 pitch, Pakistan are the favorites to win. With Imam, Babar, Rizwan and probably Said in the top-four, I can't see this team collapsing in a relatively small run-chase.

The gap was closing but the loss of Ayub has completely rocked the team. You can see it the confidence is gone.

Ah well hopefully 2030 onwards our luck turns and we find 5 or 6 decent players to give us a chance in these tournaments. Getting a bit painful suffering the same way since 2019.

There has been no closing of the gap. India treat pak nowadays the same way they treat Bangladesh and Afghanistan in games.
 
The fact that the home team will be the first one to be out of the tournament in a span of 3 days is simply outstanding...

From 23rd Feb onwards for two weeks time every other team has a chance to make semis while Pak players sit at home expecting miracles (qudrat ka nizam :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: to be precise ) lol

Exactly and no match to their skillset... They bring Arshdeep, Harshit , Prasidh from nowhere and they are performing straight away... With Pakistan their seasoned bowlers Shaheen , Naseem, Haris are getting clobbered all round the park..

Just like Bhajji said Shaheen is not even close to Siraj.. Siraj can take wickets in all phases of the game, whereas Shaheen if no swing in the first over and no wickets in the first 2 overs and the remaining 8 overs he is just there to complete his quota of 10 and give away freebies..

Indian batsmen have always been dominated by our bowlers right from the era of Fazal Mahmood down to Asif, Aamer and Shaheen. India has a bunch of oldies at the top. They could picked Jaiswal but they will pick potbelly Rohit who can't last more than 40 balls and Kohli who can't play BD leg spinners lol. This will be a thrashing on anything but a super flat phatta where India might hold the edge. On a normal cricket wicket - even something similar to the NZ game, we will beat India 7/10 times.

Our only hope , which is a long shot is if somehow Shaheen and Naseem rip through India’s top order and get India out below 250. Otherwise no chance without Fakhar and Saim. The likes of Imam Ul Haq and Kushdil will not cause any concern to India. I expect Imam to block ten deliveries , play a cover drive and then get out on the hook. Shami will get Babar out lbw after setting him up with a couple deliveries on off. Then the rest of batting will collapse. Haris Rauf i would be surprised if he goes below 8 an over tomorrow. Expect the spinners to bamboozle Rizwan and he will eventually give catching practice. The only player I see playing decent is Agha. Sorry to be pessimistic but that defeat against New Zealand has just took it out of me . On top of that Liverpool dropped two points last night (don’t know why I put that in but just adds to my misery)

Lol Babar should just retire and play that Sachin retired league or Ajay Devgan pan masala league. Even there he will keep getting out to guys like Harbhajan or Yuvraj.
