Amir is a big blow!

Need to somehow restrict Eng to 250, which will be very difficult given the class of the English batting and the fact that Amir, who's bowled well through out the competition, is out.

Time for Junaid, Shadab, Hassan & Rumman to set up! Maybe trial by spin for England? :shadab :hafeez :imad :malik
 
So much talking about changes in batting but both Azhar , Hafeez and Imad got selected and Fahim left out
 
We have a poorer lower order and have decided to bowl first...

So all the talk of middle order exposed was just a talk. Classic Mickey Arthur, say all the right stuff, do the opposite.
 
big blow ... no Aamir . Shadab is good choice . though we miss faheem batting but shadab might give you a match winning spell

Cn't fathom why azhar can't be replaced by harris. Really defy all the logics , hafeez bowls so i understand but why azhar?
 
What a pathetic looking squad... Pakistan won't even make 180. The game is already lost. No Amir, no Haris and no fahim.. Means no runs down the order at all.

what a donkey selection, a positive batsman like ashraf who also bowls well is not playing, while dot ball hafeez is kept. Pak selectors are almost as lame as west indies.:O:O:boom::boom:
 
Defensive move bowling first with the spinners we have on a used pitch. Sarfraz doesn't trust his batsmen to set a target.
 
The big thing is Pakistan have chosen to chase. Now this match is really on.

England are much less positive when batting first then chasing and if they score less than 280 it's Pakistan's game.

I reckon it's a 50-50 or better for Pak.
 
This is ridiculous, I can't believe Hafeez, that waste of air is in. Amir's loss guts me even more. He was finally doing so well. Dammit.

Chalo, it was a fun group stage. Hope England thrashes India in the final. :(
 
Chances to win have just gone up a notch without the Wicketless Wonder (the ball got stuck in Matthew's trouser and hit the stumps :yk ). Rejoice, everyone!

Need to change the timid culture. Its a fine call. Chances of winning this were bleak anyways and Amir's loss has sealed the deal for England now. Pakistan should chase in all matches from now om because thats what modern day teams do.
 
Should have batted first. Haris and Fahim ought to have played. Big mistake.. Such a pathetic decision to weaken an already fragile lineup.

For those questioning a chase.

That was the template set by the previous two matches.
Bowl first and chase an average total.

Pakistan just sticking to what has worked for them.

Had they batted first, scored a predictable 230-240, the keyboard warriors would be out in force questioning why they didn't bowl first!
 
If its a used pitch, wouldn't they have been better off batting first, and let the spinners exploit it in the second innings?
 
Star bowler rules himself out just few minutes before the match, TTF Hafeez persisted with, captain wins the toss and decides to bowl with confused and scared batsmen that barely chased 236 against SL. Pakistan has lost the match before it even begun.
 
Bowling first and trying to restrict them is the correct decision. England would have chased down any mediocre total we might've set them. This is our only chance to win.
 
why didnt they replace shadab with imad
very disappointed.

I think Sarfaraz himself likes to bat when chasing and his record is better in chases versus batting first

No way they were going to bat first after winning last two matches bowling first :afridi .
 
Amir is a big blow but it's stupid to not play Fahim. Should've just made one change with Shadab in for Amir

Not that i rate ruman at all but faheem can't be trust for 10 overs,he should have played instead of hafeez or even azhar.
 
Pakistan is so defensive it's cringeworthy.. Literally packed the entire team with bowlers.. What were they thinking.. Whose going to make all those runs?!
 
What a dumb decision to bowl first.

The same pitch is going to be used from the last game and it is going to be hot and sunny, meaning the pitch would be baking and prone to breaking.

Spin could have been a real factor in the the 2nd innings.

we don't need all 10 from him, just 5 would do. I think spin is going to play a bigger part
 
Lot will depend on junaid if he get hammer in the powerplay it will be pretty much over.
 
For the first time in a long long time, thrilled to see the Pakistani think tank go in with the aggressive option of picking Shadab over Fahim for this match. Despite the short straight boundaries, picking Shadab was the correct decision since we're playing against England who have a reputation of not playing leg spin that well. Fahim would've been carted all over the place by Stokes, Morgan and Buttler.

Great attacking intent for starters. Doesn't guarantee that Shadab will succeed but a good bold decision.

"We cant chase" attitude is timid. It has to change. Bat first or bat second, the team isnt developed enough to challenge England unless some miracle takes place. At least the players would get some experience of chasing in a high pressure game.
 
As soon as Morgan and Stokes come in, get Hafeez on!!! Plain and simple. Hafeez will knock them over.
