ICC CT 2017 | Australia v Bangladesh | Match abandoned

Sachin Tendulkar s debut ODI match was when both teams played less than 20 overs each . Wonder what the rules were then.

No rule - they decided to play a 16 overs match.

Ideally, ODI should have minimum 25 overs or wash-out. It's should be different from T20.

Oh I see. Agree with the 25 overs a side idea. I think the rules were for a minimum of 25 overs a side until a few years back.

Lol, it would be hilarious if they lose the next one and NZ beats England or Bangladesh beats NZ.

No, they got 1 point from Kiwis, which they don't deserve. It'll be unfortunate for Kiwis, if both of them loses to Poms & AUS qualifies for better bashing of BD.

If we get a point today, we'll have to earn SF qualification by beating NZ, who was the better team among the two (AUS/NZ).

Australia has a very good pace attack.Bangladesh can do well against this attack, they have that capabilities.Only lack of inexperience of playing against this varieties led by Starc was the cause of downfall. If you are playing for the first time against Starc,Hazzlewood,Cummins,Pattinson you are supposed to fail.Bangladesh just played a series against England a few months ago,so their pace bowlers are well known to them. This is why just look how Bangladeshi batsmen played them so easily.Australia is supposed to come for a series this year.I am sure it CT was after that,Bangladeshi batsmen would have fared better.

No need to be get excited seeing this rain.Play is supposed to be finished at 1.45 Bangladesh time (1.15 Indian time) and Australia need only 4 overs within this time period.Runs required? Only 26 according to espncricinfo!I won't mind if i am proven wrong though.

yes still like two hours to go..

109 to be precise, but none from Mash, Mistafiz or Rubel (all has bowled 4 or more already).

It's another hour of rain & the match will be called off - don't think the ground staff can remove that much water. Also, once you are out of the ground, umpires have to maintain a minimum standard to come back - unless ICC wants to ensure BD loses.

They only need to fit in 4 overs for the match to be officially recorded, so the cut off time could well be couple of more hours depending on the forecast though.

I've heard it all now :))

No - cut off time is preset.

Consider that Aussies did lose to NZ, and Tamim didn't do that stupidity & somehow took the score to 220 - that 109 target would have been at least 125 - that's 41 in 4 overs & if Aussies loses there after, they are out of CT - I am sure, they would have taken the cut off & 1 point to fight it out against Poms.

Cut offs are fixed before toss.

Espncricinfo says that officially cut off time can can be 10pm.If it's England time then another 3 hours!Another KKR IPL dhamaka!

Cut off is 9:15 PM GMT - that's 1:45 hours, but I think Ground staff will need at lest 30 minutes after rain stops.

9:15 GMT - it's not a private league by individual board.

Indian and Australian bowling performances against BD are rather similar if you do not count Tamin (who did not play in the practice match against India).

Australia already had a lucky point vs NZ because that match was out of their hands, so perhaps it will natural justice if this one is called off.

You are right .Espncricinfo just gave this news.Still 1:45 is too long.Knowing English rain,it can stop anytime giving enough time to groundstaffs to prepare the ground.I hope that i will be proven wrong.

Ultimate loser is Kiwis & beneficiary can be BD.

A washed out game would be fair to NZ as it would put them ahead of Aus.

Will bd be out if they lose tonight?

Yes, it will be out. Most it will have will be 2 pts. As Aus-NZ was a tie, there will be at least two teams with 3 or more points by the time the group stage games are over.

The match can be continued till 9:30 PM. For 4 overs, minimum 16 minutes required - hence 9:15 is cutoff time.

Though, it's odd that they haven't kept buffer. Match started at 1:30 PM local time - so 9:15 PM is official closure. I might be wrong here - they must have kept some buffer time.

No way lol. Aus can beat Eng and will have 4 points. Eng will also then have 4 points if they beat NZ or else they can be knocked out :D

A bit of perms and combs, but Aus can advance if they beat England in the next game

Now, they have confirmed - official cut-off at 9:15PM, they have 1 hour buffer - so, for a 4 overs game, ball has to roll at 10:00 PM GMT latest - that's 2:12 hours from now on.

The question was about BD, not AUS. Read before you "lol".

This sorry bunch doesn't deserve to be saved by the rain. Bangladesh have played horrendously in this tournament and they don't deserve to get away with 1 point due to thus stupid rain.

Australia should be declared as the winner.

This has been the worst match of the Champions Trophy so far, looking at our pace bowlers, it's a disgrace these guys are competing against Starc, Cummins & Hazzlewood. A guy like Imrul being repeatedly selected while youngsters are not given enough chances. Not to mention the so called minnow bashing number 1 allrounder who hadnt done anything in World Tournaments, we need to get rid of mediocre players like Shakib, Riyadh & Kayes

Clearly you did not see the India v Pakistan game. The word mismatch doesnt even begin to describe it

Amir bowled beautifully until he got injured, Can't blame Pakistan brother, India is the best team in the world. Bangladesh on the other hand worships a guy like Shakib and Shabbir

Should we get no more play, then Australia and Bangladesh will both receive one point each. This means every match from here on in will be completely must win for both these sides. If England and New Zealand can't get a result tomorrow, then the final matches will be the ultimate shootout. What drama we are in for!

From ICC above.

Umpires should Let Aussies bat for 4 overs, it will only take them one over to finish it off though. This DLS is a joke

What if it rains in final matches too?

we deserved to lose this match.

Feel Pity for Australia. Also feel Pity for NZ who could have won the last match too.

Match called off gentlemen! Lol what a farce cricket is.

And pathetic ICC hosted a tournament during this season

LMAO Aussies are going to be eliminated because of the weather :))

BD bowlers are no match for Aus bowlers and bd batmen had the worst day today. Hope bd bounce back in next match and win it convincingly.

Brilliant chance for BD to sneak into semis by beating NZ.

Why Imrul Kayes plays in bangladesh team this guy never scores and is slow too when i see him play.
Have Bangladesh got no better batsman because number 3 is a importent position?

Well we can try Mksaddek and Nazmul Hossain, but management keeps persisting with Failed playas like Sabbir who's highest score is 65 and Imrul strike rate of 60 Kate's

I think you may need to read the bolded part to know what I responded to :D

I have read exactly what you wrote - unfortunately, you didn't see the humor of my post. Pls read it again and then read your post

Sweet Christmas, you really did miss the point :))

Australia have the same number of points with two washed out matches that they would have if their matches were not washed out, viz 2 points. So they have not lost any points.

Now they need to beat England to qualify.

True. Mainul is my fav BD poster. I wonder Where he is today?

You are just trolling by labeling me as your fav BD poster.I am not that bewkuf mate ;-)

The weather was also gloomy, rainy and cold too like oval where i live in Bangladesh, ideal to enter under a blanket after tarabih salat. But i was following the match anxiously waiting for the match to be called off :10:
