I believe in the horse for the course theory but not at an expense of better untested horses waiting in the stable to get a chance. He has scored on dead wickets to his credit but failed miserably in testing conditions.

You may choose to persist with a player who has promise like Azam in other conditions but fascination of sticking with a guy who could not put a bat in foreign conditions is beyond me. When this guy was owned like a clown in RSA against Steyn with all the experience behind him, he should have been done back then. But no, not for PCB clowns; that was not enough.

Absolutely.

The way Pakistan bowled and fielded against the No.1 team after a hammering from India was nothing short of remarkable. The amount of abuse and criticism the team has faced after India, many other teams would have laid down and died. Pakistan team showed real fight here. Win or lose this, fans have had some joy today.

Don't see us beating them but here's a couple of crumbs for comfort - Cardiff is one of the spin friendly venues in England. Slow, low pitch and we did win there v England chasing 300 last August.
 
I want India to beat SA and SL, SL to beat Pak, so that all three Sl, Pak and SA are on 2 points with net run rate deciding the second team for semis which would mean the 2nd team to qualify for semis would be the team India bashed the least :yk

Have to agree with this! The team looked so dejected after India match.
 
In hindsight....

South Africa should have bowled out Morkel....

Who cares.... south Africa never seem to be able to bring their A game to big tourneys.

23 overs left , i think for each over they allot 4.2 minutes and we still have 123 minutes left so i guess i was wrong. We will start losing overs after 27 minutes

People always look too much into anamolies/flukes, I have no doubt we will make the semis my friends!

Did I say that your government is run by saints? All I am saying that as opposed to Pak, Ind has taken more steps for a fairer system. Take it as a complement - I am very stingy when it comes to giving it to Indians :)

other wise i would have leave PP for few weeks if you was not their to defend pakistan team
 
In rain we trust by the current sight of it I dont see the game resuming before an hour if it resumes.

I don't think there's any way we finish at the top after how the match vs. India turned out. India would have to lose by wide margins against SL and SA and we would have to crush both teams by 150-200 runs. Don't see that happening.

If I take PAK's revised target for 40 overs, it'll be around 200 - so the NRR impact in +0.80 (219 in 50 vs 200 in 40 or less). But, if the match is stopped now, PAK wins but NRR impact is minimum (219/50 vs 119/27) And the volume of run is half, so, it won't pull that 129 runs deficit much.

Any way, PAK won't ever make the cut on NRR after losing 1st match by 129, because SAF also knows the the equation & SRL won't make it 170 runs or 25 overs comfortable win for PAK.
 
It will take Atleast 30 mins to prepare the ground even if it stops Now, the inspections again and again. Chances are bleak.

Think it will be a no.2 finish, no.1 could be unlikely due to RR depends on how awful we make Lanka look :akhtar

If India lose both games they will be out if we beat Sri Lanka as along with us, South Africa will be on four points.

Odds are shortening because if match doesn't get started then Pakistan wins and even if does start Pakistan might get a reduced target with same number of wickets in hand. That's why.
 
Never before have I felt happier for rain in a Pakistan match, nor do I ever recall secretly wishing that it just washes out.
 
Jeez, the odds are nearly negligible Now. The match is very very unlikely to begin.
 
If Australia's match gets rained out ..... they can make Semi Final without winning a Match ..... !!!!
