What's new

ICC Men's T20 World Cup | India v New Zealand | Dubai | 31 October, 2021 | India innings

Match is not over yet.

But why do all these "modern legends" struggle against spin?

Heck likes of Malik/Hafeez seem better...

It all started with that terrible decision of sending in ishan. Kohli's fascination with right left combo is getting increasingly absurd

I guess the plan was to shield Rohit from left-arm inswing of Boult.

Fair to say that Kishan is a poor man's Rishabh Pant. We should have picked Shreyas Iyer ahead of him. He is good vs spin and in rotating strike.

Pant 34 matches, Avg : 22, Strike Rate : 122
Kishan 4 matches, Avg : 28, Strike Rate : 133

Kishan is also younger than Pant. Don't be a blind f@nboy. :inti

Cant fault the batting too much. It's even tougher than what it was for Australia. Hope selectors dont get swayed by fans/haters and persist with the likes of Ishan.

What a nightmare of a tournament this has been..

Now the remaining games are pointless really. Even if Afghanistan defeat the Kiwis and we somehow beat the Afghans, the Afghans would still probably qualify due to a massively superior NRR

What fun are they going to have playing versus Namibia and Afghanistan and Scotland anyway. Should hold another IPL after this game is done.

Beaten, pace/movement, It was their to hit.

Oh boy, India playing like Pakistan :yk

Vintage Umar Akmal dismissal

Afghanistan will be very tough to beat , i would say they are favourites to be semi finalists at the moment.

Their game plan has been wrong from the start of the match. They have been aiming for 180+ and trying to hit everything through the line, trying to muscle everything when the pitch is much slower. What this has caused is a lot of dot balls and shots with hardly any timing at all.

They should instead have been aiming for 150 just rotating the strike and getting singles and doubles with the odd boundary every other over.

I'm seeing a lot of commentators saying that the Indian batsmen are acting 'nervous'.

Nervous?? Seriously??

All these million spent on giving these players the best coaching and facilities, and they can't play with the required spirit?

You guys put too much pressure on them and have too high expectations.

Lol, It was between Kishan and Iyer and Kishan was picked.

Actually, You are being a blind f@nboy with no understanding of the game and a joke as all the players whom you were backing already lost the game in the first 10 overs lmao! You are indeed a joke.

Need to remind the Namibians of what Dada did to them in the 2003 semifinal and put the fear of God in their hearts:asif

Kashmiri brothers, get the fireworks and celebrations ready. This is a great mauka to celebrate an Indian defeat.

#Mauka Mauka

NZ start as favourites against India pretty much always. Not sure why are people reacting as if they are playing vs some minnows.

First time in this WC no boundaries BTW 7-15 overs.. Incredible by India..

India once again think IPL performances make people legends and they do selection based on that. Karma is getting them where it hurts the most. Humiliating exit from the world cup. India deserves this. Kohli deserves this for keeping Ashwin for spite.

They were broken by the Babbar Sher, Hafiz Rizwan and the savage Afridi invader.

Anyone who thought such a defeat would be shrugged off has no understanding of human psychology. It will take India a long time to recover from that defeat.

India is not even trying?

Have they read this pitch differently?

Are there hickeys on pandya neck if so don’t gonna well with the Indian media in case India loses

I was about to say the same

Indian fans needs to hope Afghanistan beat NZ so that India can thrash Namibia, Scotland, and Afghanistan to get their NRR above Afghanistan and qualify for semi.

After along time Pakistani fans don't need a calculator lol

It's the fear of failure.

Fear of loosing yet another knockout game, given their poor record in knockouts in last 10 years

You guys put too much pressure on them and have too high expectations.

They have chosen to play the game in a country where cricket is almost a religion, and are amongst the highest paid in their professions in the world. Expectations are bound to be there. If they can't deal with that they should be doing something else.

One positive out of this nightmare tournament would be Kohli would probably get finally booted out the captaincy job even in the ODIs after failing for the umpteenth time in an ICC tournament.

He should concentrate on Test cricket and leave the LOIs to Brohit.

How well did that work out against Pakistan?

Kohli is the one good thing in Indian cricket. Lose him and get ready for even worse days.

Rohit won't be able to captain effectively with Kohli's shadow over him.

Instead of blaming IPL, Indian fans & BCCI should understand the actual intent of IPL... It is about grooming young talents (in T20 format mainly) & bringing them soon to international cricket (through T20) and not sticking to test players & aged players (who are tired of playing throughout the year both physically & mentally). In fact India should set a new benchmark to other teams by sending a totally different team for T20 International... (Should take "Sachin Tendulkar" as role model for this who took this stance even before IPL!) They should understand this first, because they are ones who are running this IPL show!

Rohit, Kohli, Rahul, (and even Pant), Bumrah, Shami... should stick to Tests/ODIs and IPL (for financial reasons). I know I may look absurd to you people. I know there are people in this forum who think it is IPL which should be banned and all these guys should prioritize International Cricket! But you cannot deny the benefits IPL has done to Indian Cricket (that too for "Tests" surprisingly!) But for it (IPL) to do good for Indian T20 Cricket, they have to think dynamically!

T20 is for new guys, fresh bloods who play cricket with adrenaline rush. Technic, Temperament, Patience has no room in this format! Even in IPL it is the young guys (Indian/Non-Indian) OR old retired guys (who don't have the pressure of playing international cricket throughout the year) who does the most damage (the regular international players do just the filling job in IPL!)

Best example I can give is few T20/IPL players played an important role in our historic test series win in Australia!

Hopefully Shardul can give us a few boundaries now, and get India to 120?? Or am I asking for too much?
