Seven host cities have been announced for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia with the final line-up for the event now confirmed.

The event which is scheduled to take place between 16 October and 13 November next year will see a total of 45 matches hosted across Adelaide, Brisbane, Geelong, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney. The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 Final will be hosted under lights at the MCG on 13 November 2022. The semi-finals will be hosted at the Sydney Cricket Ground and Adelaide Oval on 9 and 10 November, respectively.

Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 champions Australia and runner-up New Zealand plus Afghanistan, Bangladesh, England, India, Pakistan and South Africa as the next highest ranked teams will gain direct entry into the Super 12 stage of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022.

Namibia, Scotland, Sri Lanka and the West Indies will play in Round 1. The four remaining spots at Australia 2022 will be filled via the ongoing qualification pathway, culminating in two global qualifying tournaments one to take place in Oman in February and the other in Zimbabwe in June/July. For more information on the pathway click here.

Head of Events, Chris Tetley said: “We are looking forward to seeing the return of ICC events to Australia and are delighted to announce the seven host cities for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022. Following the success of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in 2020 and a two year postponement, our sights are now firmly set on planning for the 2022 event in collaboration with the LOC.

“With 12 teams already confirmed in the line-up, we eagerly await the culmination of the qualification process to see which other teams will join them.”

Looking forward to the announcement of schedule and making a couple of weeks of family vacation trip to watch at least 3 Pak games.

It looks to be a tournament dominated by the non Asian teams unless Pakistan find a few big hitting consistent batsmen in the top 5 India is the only credible challenger from Asia unless they underperform in the big matches again.

Way too soon to be talking about who will be challenging and who won't but cricket in Australia is always great to watch so looking forward to this tournament!

I am not fond of Australia hosting major events due to timing issue. FIFA that is why ignores Australia hosting Football world cup.

1992/2015 ppl had to get up so early for ODI’s and even T20 world cup matches will happen at afternoon time

Which is office time.

Australia should win their second World T20. They are the red hot favorites.

I expect Australia, England, New Zealand, and Pakistan/India to reach semi-final.

Pakistan will reach the semi final.

Haider Ali will be the stand out player for Pakistan.

Fast bowlers will be key in this tournament, who Pakistan choses will be cruciel and will need some solid batsman as well. Lets hope Pakistan prepare for this tournament correctly.

One of Shadab and Imad should play. 8 overs of spin will be too much. Need to get a medium pace all rounder in there who could replace either Imad or Shadab.

I can see something like this.

Fakhar
Babar
Rizwan
Haider ali
Hafeez/Malik
Iftikhar
Wasim Jnr
Shadab
Hassan Ali
Shaheen
Dahani

Yeah probably something along these lines. But...

1. Asif for Iftikhar
2. Malik over Hafeez (I think Hafeez will retire)
3. Haris has had success in Aus Big Bash league so he is likely to play a role. Maybe Haris in for Hassan Ali.

So my team would look like:

Fakhar
Babar
Rizwan
Haider
Malik
Asif
Wasim
Shadab
Haris
Shaheen
Dahani

Maybe tail is too long here but will obviously have Hasan, Imad and a couple others as back up.

I only picked iftikhar taking in consideration the conditions.Iftikhar performed really well when Pakistan played against Australia in Australia.

I would prefer Hafeez over Malik as Malik doesn't play fast bowling aswell as hafeez and can bowl an over or 2.

My bench would be
Nawaz
Rauf
Asif Ali
Kamran ghullam as my surprise pick :)

Just saying one year is still a long way away for this discussion. lots of time for radical changes between now and then .. a player may not be same by then and could be dropped as well!!
