Nah bro I don't think it is a choke. As soon as we saw the DLS we knew it would be difficult for BD.

We ( Pakistan and Bangladesh) are a bit behind in T20 cricket and fast paced LOI so when target goes above a run a ball our players will struggle, get bogged down and lose wickets. We gotta work on this. I am seeing some encouraging signs from Pakistanis but it is stop and start, Bangladesh are behind even Pakistan. Need to focus on developing players with more of a power game and more mentally flexible. India still always has edge in mental battles, their players can adapt well to situation and shift through gears.

Bangladesh pace attack is defo good. Fahad is defo class and that ball to get Vedant was fab (albeit i'd say Vedant played a walking shot, a nothing shot)...but he showed enough fire, bounce to display that a promotion to senior team is not far away.
What a terrific combo he will be with Nahid rana -both still young tall and all the right attributes.

for our guys- our pace bowling is between servicable to average to below avg just above poor. Unless our guys get the conditions right, we are not gonna roll sides over. Spinners the same.

Talent supply? - dont see any on the horizon...but my cousin who has some connection in the Chennai circles said

Pranav Raghvendran is an out and out quickie, dude was a sprinter and then changed to pace bowling. He is injured currently but is going to make a lot of heads turn.

For this match, rain was a big factor - Bangla boyz stuffed it big time trying for the glory shots on loop when they could have taken more singles rattling the indians and then when the target was low enough go for the tall timber, instead they opted for the spectacular - bangldesh have blown an absolute halwa.

I frankly don't see our guys going past the semis - even making the semis would be an achievement. We are not going to be given such gifts by other tougher teams, wont say impossible but chances of vihaan to take 4 wkts on his own again are not very high.

The only outlier is if Vaibhav fires in any of the matches super 6's onwards, he has the ability to take another team down on his own..

The Event Technical Committee of the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2026 has approved Aqil Khan Obaid as a replacement for Hafieezullah Zadran in the Afghanistan squad.

Obaid was named as a replacement after Zadran was ruled out due to a fracture to his left wrist, which he sustained during Afghanistan’s successful tournament opening match against South Africa. He has been pronounced unable to continue his participation in the remainder of the tournament.

The replacement of a player requires the approval of the Event Technical Committee before the replacement player can be officially added to the squad.

The Event Technical committee of the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2026 consists of Wasim Khan (Chair and ICC General Manager - Cricket), Sarah Edgar (ICC Senior Manager - Events), Hamilton Masakadza (Zimbabwe Cricket Tournament Director) and Tash Farrant (independent nominee).

Mature Vaibhav praised after vital knock at U19 World Cup

He's still only 14, but already the big moments are stacking up in Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's very young career.

After bursting onto the scene domestically, Vaibhav was a key contributor for India (72 off 67) as they edged past Bangladesh to maintain their unbeaten start at the ICC Under-19 Men's Cricket World Cup and take command of Group B.

India captain Ayush Mhatre hailed the professionalism on display from his star hitter, detailing how he was able to handle the high pressure moment with aplomb.

"(Sooryavanshi) showed the maturity that he's got and just batted really brilliant," said Mhatre.

"He showed patience also; the team needed him to stay there, so he stayed in.

"It was initially tough conditions because there was some stickiness in the wicket and the ball was coming a little bit (on the) slower side, back of the length, so there was some difficulty.

"But the way that (Abhigyan Kundu and Sooryavanshi) batted, and (later in) the innings, (Kanishk Chouhan) batted well."

India made 238 runs batting first, with three key contributions with the bat. And despite rain impacting Bangladesh's run chase, forcing the implementation of the DLS method and a revised target of 165 from 29 overs, India did enough to hold on for a 16-run victory. The Tigers were all out for 146 off 28.3 overs.

Kundu anchored India's batting innings with 80 off 112, perfectly complementing Vaibhav's more aggressive approach. The pair produced a 62-run stand for the fourth wicket to help lay strong foundations, while Chouhan's 28 off 26 helped with the finishing touches from their 50 overs.

"(Kundu) is batting really well in this tournament, and is in form also, so it's really nice for us that he's batting really brilliant and scoring some runs for our team," Mhatre continued.

"It really was a terrific victory from our boys ... it was really big.

"We just play our game, we're not thinking much (about that game yet), just (about) playing our cricket."

India can now rest up for the best part of a week, with their next contest scheduled for January 24 against New Zealand at Bulawayo.
