ICC U19 Men's Cricket World Cup 2026 - Discussion thread [From January 15 - February 06]

Super Sixes with results and NRR carried forward is a rubbish concept. Even in 1999, when it was the same concept, Pakistan who were trash in Super Sixes and won only 1 game, ended up as the table toppers.

1999 WC had a balanced format. Not a farce like this U-19 WC.

Good old 1999 WC. Back when cricket was free from Indian grip.

It's alright. They beat fellow qualifiers AUS and NZ in the group stage and deserved to go through to the semis.

Cricket Quality was great and indeed enjoyable but the format wasn’t great.

Cricket quality has nothing to do with the format

Isn't the exact same format that was used in 2024? Pakistan made it to semis so there was no problem then

Key Aspects of the 2024 Format:
  • Groups: 16 teams were split into Groups A, B, C, and D.
  • Super Six Stage: Instead of a traditional quarter-final, 12 teams qualified for two, six-team Super Six groups.
  • Points Carry Forward: Teams carried forward points, wins, and Net Run Rate (NRR) from their matches against other teams that also advanced to the Super Six stage.
  • Super Six Matches: Teams from Group A played opponents from Group D, and Group B teams played Group C teams. Each team played two matches in this stage.
  • Knockouts: The top two teams from each Super Six group advanced to the semi-finals.
  • Placement Matches: The bottom team from each group played placement matches to determine positions 13-16.

India played its first Test in 1932, and it took us 20 years and 24 Tests to register our first Test win. Bangladesh had to wait 5 years and 34 Tests for their first win. Now you can calculate how many years India took to shed its minnow tag. :inti

Undivided India started its Test journey in 32, post Partition India won it's first test in 52- 7 years post partition. Pakistan won it's first test in 52 as well.

Banglas started their test journey in 2007, winning first in 2007 about the same time of 7 years.

Only a fool or biased view would consider Indian & Bangla teams started with same circumstances, however feel free to go ahead and fill your boots with the hate and trolling if that's the aim.

It is a dumb format regardless who goes to semis or not. It makes no sense whatsoever. There is no need to take any legitimate criticism of cricket and turn it into India Pakistan Bangladesh debate

Yea very ignorant these guys forgetting there was a period we were not independent and BD/Pakistan were part of India. The Turmoil. Anyone with commonsense would compare with Srilanka lol

Just saying This was not brought up was an issue last time. When the ICC decided to continue the same format as last time all full members were in agreement. Only Associate sides raised some objections.

If one really wants to compare, then lets compare, India won the 3rd ODI WC it competed in, won the first T20 it competed in, cant remember which iteration of CT it was that was jointly shared b/w India and NZ

Just for comparison Pakistan won the 5th ODI WC it competed in, 2nd T20 WC it competed in

Bangladesh on the other hand are yet to get to finals of any WC, let alone win one.....

Different ways to skin the cat and make your team look better unless you are BDCT, then it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, looks like a duck and smells like :poop:

Nah, his Hindi is totally north Indian Hindi. He has probably faced several difficulties and injustices in India and therefore can’t rejoice in Indian wins or Indian successes. Treat him as a turncoat and you won’t get offended, but let him have his say. Argue the point and not the person and you’ll keep your sanity, but give in kind when needed.

Fans usually hold administrators to account in most other sports. In cricket ( Indian), fans randomly become cheerleaders of Administators.

We eliminated the Scotland so as to have better run rate in super sixes and have some chance to qualify for semis? What cheap tactics and what scared to play against? We were qualified as 2nd topper from our group and if let Scotland to qualify we would still be 2nd topper? So tell me your story of being scared of Nz or India? It doesn’t make any sense. How come India or Nz has anything to do with our NRR based Scotland elimination?
