ICC World Cup 2023: Afghanistan (284 all out) beat England (215 all out) by 69 runs in shock ICC Cricket World Cup win

Pakistan vs Austarlia match is going to be interesting. Teams under pressure will struggle while chasing for sure.

Poms bat deep, but they don’t have Moeen today. Woakes is completely useless with ball in these conditions- Poms should have taken Moeen here.

Rashid Khan was hit for 10 sixes. Most of them by Morgan. That is how they won the cup. Zero spin threat.
And they created a flat with a particularly short boundary to counter Indian spinners .

I'm sure it was all an accident. Not to mention that ridiculous final.

Woakes is only good in England.

Seems like us English batting depth is superficial this time

Bro, BD could have beat these guys if you still had Ebadot and played Nasum or Mahmudullah instead of Mahedi.

Playing 2 off spinners allowed England to smash everything
Actually, I didn’t like batting second that day. It was a day game on an used wicket - England batting is explosive but fragile and they didn’t have Moeen that day. On those wickets, bowling first we will never get Poms 4 down by power play, but scoreboard pressure with spinners will work. There was no dew threat in afternoon either.

I thought it was a fresh pitch? If it was a used pitch then yeah batting first is important.
Regardless, BD need Ebadot to hit good/hard lengths in the PP.

And 2 offspinners was a poor selection especially since Mahedi can't bat at all.

Bangladesh has reasonably covered all the bases. They should do better than this. Taskin, Shoriful, Fiz, Shakib, Mehidy more than a decent bowling unit. Their batting has to step up to the plate.

Butler is batting too high. He should either open or bat at 6/7.
England made a mistake in ignoring Ben Duckett, he is ideal at no.4 in indian conditions with Stokes at 5 and Jos at 6, would've made a massive difference to the line up

Does Afghanistan winning this would help Pakistan in anyway?

I'm just confused who to cheer for lol.

Not in English ODI wickets. His primary role is bowling, not contribution a bit through bat & ball.

This “all-rounder” syndrome is the worst disease in modern cricket, which has basically wiped spinners out of PAK game & fast bowlers from English game.

Their batting is not that good. Apart from Shakib , all are out of form . Rahim did well last match but let's see. Litton needs to find form quick

I was appreciating the batting depth of opposition sometimes i was even envious that our tail can't bat. But turns out you would rather not trade gun bowlers for half baked all rounders who are not exactly gun bowlers.

Fresh pitch, but a game was played two days back and that wicket was cover/midwicket in that game - lots of spikes. These days, there is no fresh wicket in ODI because they shave grass up to root, but damage by spikes need more time to flatten out.

9/10 times BD won’t beat any major teams chasing. Their best bet is defending. There was no need to send Eng to bat first in a day game. It’s not like BD are master chasers. They should have batted first, put 280/290 on the board and put some pressure with their slow bowlers. BD has enough decent batsman to put 280 off n board against England on SC pitches.

SENA, India losing is good for Pakistan. Afghanistan won't make the SF, but these 5 teams will be in the hunt for a top 4 finish. For Pakistan to make the SF you should support Afg. In the future if say India or NZ pull so far ahead of the pack that they are locked for the knockouts with couple of games still to play you must hope they beat the other contenders as well.

It's actually a chasing venue. There is darkh movement to exploit . BD seamers probably just didn't bowl well enough.

I sense afgh will collapse from 150 to 190 all out
I see pakistan team to a new all time low. Seriously what have you guys made no proper bowling attack and don't get me started with the batting lol
Ofcourse it will become a dog eat dog business. But on the flip side England will be more aggressive against Pakistan.
This Pakistan team does not deserve to go into the semis. The bowling attack is poor (No Waseem, No Waqar, No Shoaib), batting has always been an issue, it is in Pakistan's genes. Pak doesn't have Gurbaz, Liton, Rohit, Rachin and etc. Poor Babar what hole he has to cover.

Man, get Rashid in now. Don't let Buttler and Brook settle . Especially Buttler. He's got the skill to negotiate even tough wickets.

Any player who can’t get into team on one skill is generally useless. Sadbad, Nawaz, Thakur, Stoiins, kind of players are not going to do well in ODIs in modern times. Pitches are flatter and teams don’t need 8 batsmen. They need six good batsmen and five bowlers who get into team on primary skills. If they can contribute in their secondary skills it’s a bonus.

Why are players not focusing on singles at all? Kohli and Rahul picked 61 runs of singles and twos with absolute ease. Why can't these guys do? For 50 balls Kohli did not have even a single boundary. But yet he kept rotating the strike.

Yeah it’s a chasing venue. But BD are not very good at it. Teams should stick to what they are good at against better teams.

Point to ponder
Mujeeb Nabi and Rashid are a better trio than Shadab Ifti and Nawaz shocking

Picking singles, running hard, are all becoming a lost skill unfortunately. Azhar, Sachin, Dravid, Virat are all masters of it.

This is going south for England. In 2011 they lost to Bangladesh. Those were the days Anderson was playing one dayers

Haven’t seen Pune, Bangalore, Mumbai & Kolkata yet, but looks like Delhi is the most batting friendly ground of this WC so far - scores are frightening 429/5, 326 (44), 275, 276/2 (35), 122/1 (18) ….
They had to do it in Delhi. Ball is already gripping in 3rd match. If they didn't relay it, by 5th it would have been minefield like 5th day Test match pitch and outfield.

Then people will complain that it's too hard for batting.

Indian pitches are so varied in nature that critics will have to keep changing their tunes to blame pitches.

Jos Buttler bowled by Naveen-Ul-Haq

England in big trouble at 96-4 chasing 285

They are an overrated side. They fluked it in 2019. They are good flat track t20 bullies. Not even odi bullies.

Overrated team.

Outside flat pitches They will get blasted by any of the top 3 4 sides. I 100% back Pakistan to beat England.
