ICC World Cup 2023: South Africa (382/5) beat Bangladesh (233 all out) by 149 runs

So Miraz only bowled 9 overs giving 44, why did Shakib now bowl him again?
Nasum bowled overs for 27 only

Why did Shakib insist on bowling fast bowlers in the last 10 overs after seeing what happened to Englands bowlers
 
SA Rampage started with Shakib throwing pies to De Kock. 22 off that over then SA just went to 5th gear!

Batting under lights is even easier. But do BD have it in them to get anywhere close. They need bat powerfully and long. Kusal Mendis went absolutely ballistic against these guys.

Only saving grace is Chennai track. Never seen anyone batting like this at chepauk in a ODi game. At Wankhede in a bilateral SA made 438 against India.
 
Well at least they didn’t concede more than England. That’s a win itself for Haturusinghe.

To get this total you would need to start flying, bat well throughout well and get big scores but bd batsmen are mental midgets get easily satisfied with 40s and 60s.
 
This is ideal line up for ODI. Top 6 batsmen having multiple gears. There is no exclusive consolidators in this line up. They are showing Faf here. That guy is another beast. He is in beastly form too. Probably this world cup is their destiny if they step up in crucial matches.

It’s way too out of the range for BD. They never scored 350+ in ODI’s.

From the start, first 10 even first 20. BD should have least kept SA under 350
 
Bangaldesh has to identify a leg spinner. Otherwise they cannot apply pressure after early wickets.

There is a leg spinner. Rishad Ahmed or something his name. Tall leggie too. But they dont give him chance. They should have given him chances bilateral series more often before CWC. They have old backward thinking and vision of cricket and happy with sla and offies instead of developing leggies and mystery spinners!

That is what stifling BD cricket. They should expand their range of attack. They have good left arm seamer, decent right arm seamer. But no mystery spinners or leg spinners. All finger spinners. Plus they need brutal power hitters. Career strike rate has to be around 100 for some of the players with modern rules. Cannot have 80 strike rate,
 
BD has nothing to lose. World cup stage. They should go and experss themselves. But Wankhede has a lot of bounce always. BD is up against 6'4", 6'9", 6'5" bowlers.

Watched it all. These things happen. It's a game. Afghans played well. Full credit to them. They also smashed England.
We were just not good enough. Even with naseem don't think it would make much of a difference.

The need for a leggie hasnt been any greater in BD cricket but not has been done under the useless current board president to develop legies around the desh.

Power hitters cant come about when you have pathetic pitches backhome slow and low, turners. Need to develop better wickets for domestic, encourage bigger scores, power hitters will come.

This is a flat pitch. Very few spinners can do anything here against this SA team.

Sri Lanka have better spinners than BD and even they got smashed.
 
SA are on a different level these days. Their batting is in top form and their bowlers are also on song. Very similar to India.

I feel this is SA best chance to lift the cup finally. They have all the bases covered and their finishers are the best currently in the world.

Finals should be between SA and India. The 2 best teams so far.

This is indeed a flat pitch, but Shakib bowled poorly too. He was darting at pace and in the process bowled right into their hitting arc.
 
They made 140+ in the last 10 overs. Unbelievable. It shouldn’t happened if you ask me, no matter how good a team is and how good the wicket is.

Deep it. It was combination of both brute batting and some ultra pathetic bowling made it easy for them. If BD was able to minimise the damage and concede under 100runs in the last 10. BD would have chased less than 345 which wouldve given them a slim hope.
 
Jansen found some movement upfront!
As if the target wasn't daunting enough, the ball also looks to be hooping around under lights.

That's because reeza Hendricks is playing. Once Bavuma is back it weakens their batting as he a tuk tuk guy. But SA haven't performed chasing yet.. and KO games are totally different as we all know especially for Ind and SA !🙂
 
You always open with an off spinner against QDK. I think Netherlands did with Aryan Dutt. India did with Sundar. This brainless feeding of seamer upfront unless there is evidence of swing to him is playing in his hands. If Pakistan has any sense they would gamble with Iftikar. I know he is a bit part off spinner. But there is more likelihood getting a wicket from him than hasan ali.

Sensible batting by Bangladesh tbh. This bowling attack is dangerous with the new ball. Forget about the run rate for now. See off the new ball with the intentions of taking this game deep.

This bowling attack can easily go for 11 runs an over after 20 overs. I want to see how they handle that pressure. We've usually had the opposition 5 down by the 15th over

Shanto was hated for long time he had so much chances then recently pre asia cup did well in t20s and asia cup too, suddenly became fan favourites. Any one can have a purple patch! He batted slow as a snail against afghanistan to get his 50. Has a weird lethargic technique for number 3. Should open or not play.

Soumya Sarkar cant do any worse than Shanto and Tanzid. about tournament experience. Soumya does decent in ICC events.

Look at the way shakib moved around like just stay calm still bat few balls safely. Too risky for number 4. Number 5 is best position for him. Rahim should be 4 permanent till he retires. Calm head needed at 4.
 
NRR boost match for SA. Game is done for BD. Only thing from there perspective now is how long can they drag this.

Haturusinghe has completely destroyed bangladesh batting. Reshuffling the order, too many experiments, no balance. Came back and had issues with the seniors straight away. It was him who didnt want Tamim in the team. Captain supported it coach, captain and Papon ganged up on Tamim. But Karma has ways to hit back!

Yup. Icc wasted Money on them. But icc couldn’t help it because a nation of 170million loves cricket it can only be good for the game. Since it only has handful of teams!

These 3 pretty much have their spots booked in semis. 4th spot is gonna be between Australia and unpredictable one minute up one minute down Pakistan.
 
South Africa net run rate is so good that if it comes to two teams for one spot, it will be hard for any team to make a case vs Saffers in terms of NRR.

Play first and post the same total . Most teams can't do that. SA posted 427 in Delhi. On the same pitch Engoland got rolled over.
 
BD losing badly Here and rest of the game might be blessing in disguise. Fans in Dhaka where everything is need to wise up and do something for change in bd cricket whole set up is wrong. No proper planning throughout the country. Badly managed, wickets are poor, hardly any facilities in different regions. Papon has been too comfortable in his position.

They have a predictable team structure. So you can pretty much tell which way the match goes.

On the captain.
Karma has hit back. They ganged up, conspired against Tamim who is the best opener ever produced by BD, well experienced and equipped to play any pace and spin. They treated such a bd legend such manner to not pick him. Captain gave interview after tamim saga where he looked unbothered and was blaming Tamim not batting for the team where team wants when Tamim has opened all his life. And as if they got better openers to replace experienced Tamim Iqbal.
 
Huge target least make a good match of it. Play decent cricket, dont get out to silly shots and avoidable leg glances! Never can chase this. But try get 300 plus build some confidence for next game. Loss with a fight!

That is true.

I was surprised they lost both in Asia Cup and World Cup. By big margins too.

Then again, BD faced Afghans in Lahore and Dharmasala (both aren't good for spinners). Those venues negated Afghan spin advantage.

Until last night Afghans were losing to Pakistan in ICC event as well, so I wouldnt be so smug. The way the cricketing trajectories of both nations are going, Afghans might become tiger poachers as well.
