ICC World Cup 2023: South Africa (399/7) destroys England (170) by 229 runs, leaving England's World Cup hopes in jeopardy

I was hoping for an entertaining run chase but its already fizzled out.

So Eng should try go at least 7.5 rr for the next 35 overs without losing a wicket then attack the next 10 overs to chase down the next 120 runs.

Easy peasy and game's a good 'un.

Some of these fab 4 club members don't have that extra gear. Even Australians said the same after there were queries about smith's inclusion in world T20, 2022.

Not been watching this, was busy with the Liverpool v Everton match. Good to see England getting smashed. Hate them now especially after recent events how English mps blindly supporting one side. Go Afrikaa!

Kohli himself is accumulator bro. He sucks vs spin (quality). Watch him dance like he does on tik tok when he plays santner. He also has issues vsvpacers who can swing the ball away from him. But credit to him he plays bounce and pace really well.
 
South Africa batting clicks they get huge scores. I got a feeling they’ll probably score 400+ against BD in this stadium too!

They are not that good bro. Just on absolute flat patta they can do bashings. That too only on small grounds. It was boiling hot which dint help pacers.

They will get found out vs us and in semis as usual. This same team lost to Netherlands man.

They are nothing special. Very beatable.

The fab 4 was always beyond overrated. But people didn't notice.

Williamson in 2019 looked shiny because the lineup for NZ in terms of batting was beyond fragile and bowling carried them through to the final, but that's not rye case in 2023 where every batsmen in the nz line up is playing modern cricket and each can play match winning innings so willaimson is not needed anymore.

Smith literally just has one good 70 ball 100 against India in the WC semi final and that's it. Every other time he's been a massive thorn in the side so much so, that Australia ponders his use in their t20 lineup. He's a fraud who was marketed as the 2nd coming of pointing.

I had an argument with some poster who tried to mock me for saying bavuma sucks and quoted stats on me, well bavuma is the cause of medtherlands defeats, another soft run scorer who needs quinton hand holding to function.

Abdullah, Imam, Babar top order is being badly exposed and it goes to show how important someone who could bat to modern standards like fakhar was when he was in form, none of these 3 can play the innings that he has in his career when he was in form.

Root has only ever soft scored and is just a slightly superior version to babar.

This world cup is turning out to actual prove to people why these accumulators that they praise so much with fancy averages are a throw in the side. No more Babar is willaimson like player comparisons and is needed. Everyone is seeing first hand how badly these types of players cripple sides when you have modern day bats like Conway, Gill, markram playing etc.

India in 2015 world cup lost only single match, Aussies were semifinalists in 2019, England wwill probably finish 5th or 6th

Incorrect, he plays according to the rr and is a master chaser. The others cripple the rr, big difference. As for spin, bro everyone struggles against quality spin, their difficult to play lol. Their isn't a single batter ik in the modern era that can easily play quality spin.

But he's class and way > the likes of the fab 4 or babar when playing spin 😂
 
England is out of this tournament, they can't come back for sure. I know it is very early to talk but between Australia and Pakistan, one of them will secure the 4th position in the Semis. Australia has a better chance.

Our players problem is lack of bounce.
For a tall man shaheen produces very negligible bounce

Rauf has zero bounce. He bowls nasty bumpers here and there though

Wasim jnr zero bounce
Hasan lol. Toddler bounce.

Without bounce you csnt be effective in docile tracks.

It is so easy to make up the end strike rate and make it look good which is what fanboys cling on to. But sometimes for some situations you have to go above and beyond something some of these guys lack.

I believe root and Smith are way better rplayers of spin than kohli. 100%. You will see man. When pressure is on he fails often. Kohli that is. In ko stages for odi. He has fialed since 2013.

He is good but has serious flaws outside off vs swing and against quality spin.

Well, done. 499 was anyway extremely hard to chase. Also SA is able to move ball both ways here and bowling well.

What a massive disappointment England has been in this WC. I thought they would be the team to beat. Not the team that will be beaten.
Looking at their team, they are badly missing Jason Roy who has loads of experience in playing in Subcontinent.

Dawid Malan is a poor version of Roy.

Every game has been one sided, can't remember one close game in the tournament...
So expected England to lose when the opposition racks up 399.. hoping they would take it closer but didn't expect them to chase a target of this magnitude irrespective of conditions
 
England bowling is nowhere near the quality of SA. But they can be rattled as we saw with Kushal mendis.

Kohli is a chocker yes, something that Smith I'm 2015 wasn't and Williamson isn't.

But that doesn't mean he plays spin worse lol. Smith and root accumulate against spin better and have superior single taking abilities,

Kohli bashes spin a 100x better then these 2 who have no clue on how to up the ante lol

Yeah, England bowling effort was shameful. Absolutely no thought behind it. There is so much pace and bounce in the pitch. Why were they bowling so full? On a true pitch bowling full and half volleys is criminal. I don’t think any one of the English players thought about their game plan on these pitches. You need to bowl hard length, extract bounce, and keep it tight

Because statistics blind things for obvious reasons.

Statically babar is superior to any pakistani batsmen on the planet and a 89 SR looks golden.

But anyone who watches babar would know that's not the case and numbers don't tell the whole story.

Anyone can make up end numbers to increase sr and stat pad their way through. Root isn't any different.

This is very bad for Pakistan, South Africa's NRR now means 6 wins are unlikely to be enough for Pakistan.

Pakistan have to win all of their remaining matches.

India has choked way more than SA ever did between 2007 to 2015

Since 2013 they have lost 3 semis, 2 wtc finals, 1 champions trophy final and t20 final in 2014.

If they believe they are good enough thats when they play best cricket.
if they are scared thats when they fail.
in no means we are top team but
on our day we can defeat top team.
so we might sneak into semis and suprise everyone
