Big day ahead with two Group 1 encounters today. NZ v SL and Eng v WI. The Pallekele pitch has not been bowler friendly in this tournament.

SL yet to announce whether A.Mendis is in the final XI or not.

Most likely XI's

New Zealand :1 Martin Guptill, 2 Rob Nicol, 3 Brendon McCullum (wk), 4 Kane Williamson, 5 Ross Taylor (capt), 6 Jacob Oram, 7 James Franklin, 8 Daniel Vettori, 9 Nathan McCullum, 10 TimSouthee, 11 Kyle Mills.

Sril Lanka : 1 Tillakaratne Dilshan, 2 Mahela Jayawardene (capt), 3 Dilshan Munaweera, 4 Kumar Sangakkara (wk), 5 Dinesh Chandimal, 6 Jeevan Mendis, 7 Angelo Mathews, 8 Thisara Perera, 9 Nuwan Kulasekara, 10 Lasith Malinga, 11 Ajantha Mendis/Akila Dananjaya/Rangana Herath.

As the pitch won't be that helpful for spinners and with NZ's good show against Sl (in fact even in Lanka) in T20Is, I would probably bet on a Kiwi victory here.

New Zealand won the toss and they will bat. Guptill comes in for Milne for New Zealand.

NZ should not fiddle around their batting order too much. Taylor should bat at 4 and McCullum should be one down

Sl has missed the trick here .. they should have had made this palekele pitch an spinning one! which favors them now it will be all NZ and Wi but i still think it will be WI / SL in to semis

All NZ players can bat ......Mills number 11 has first class hundreds...... no mug with the bat.

One of these morons need to get out so mccullum can come in. This is a slow start.

Host nation playing a crucial match and more than half the stadium empty...pathetic!

What is the point of Rob Nicol other than to waste balls and drop catches.

Guy scored a couple of 100s vs minnows and has hung around like a bad smell ever since.

I'm sick of comments like that in a thread related to differing teams. If you want to post that, make a darn thread no need to start rubbish like that here.

 Never mind.

43/0. New Zealand have a platform to launch as Taylor and McCullum are in good form.

Sri Lanka will not be too unhappy with the start though. They have not allowed NZ to get away in the pp.

Looks like Sohail tanvir has been teaching malinga how to field :afridi

Mahamarakkala Kurukulasooriya Patabendige Akila Dananjaya Perera good bowler

Are all the Group 1 matches scheduled at Pallekele? If that is the case, Sl spinners won't be that useful as in Colombo.
