don’t mean to be dark, but death is inevitable and no one knows their final moment.

Came across a video from Lahore college where a lecturer mid lecture falls from a heart attack and passed away. Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilaihi Rajiuun.

Got me reflecting on how suddenly things can end. You may be just going about your daily routine, and then all of a sudden that’s it.

So what is one thing you would be happy about that you got done in your time here on earth, and what is one regret you will have if things were to end right this instant for you?

I know we have many people on here with different beliefs and from all walks of life, curious to see your responses.

I want to accomplish these before I die:

1) Being debt-free (achieved that in 2023; alhamdulillah).
2) Doing Hajj (planning to do soon in sha Allah).
3) Doing as much sadaqah jariyah as possible.
4) Helping out my parents as much as possible (parents are very important in Islam).
5) Not missing any fard obligation (5 fard salahs, Ramadan fasts, Zakat etc.).
6) Doing voluntary acts of worship (as much as possible).
7) Leaving sufficient wealth for my future generations.

Regrets in life:

1) I wasn't a practicing Muslim from around 2004 till around 2015. I was very religious before that period and after that period. My regret is I didn't worship a lot during that period. I call it my personal "dark age". I went through many trials and tribulations. Allah (SWT) eventually made me return to Islam again in year 2015. Alhamdulillah.

2) During 2004-2015 period, I have done many bad things. Not bad in terms of Canadian culture but very bad in terms of Islamic rulings. I don't want to expose my sins. So, I am not going to post those here. Anyway, I have repented to Allah (SWT) and I don't do those anymore. I am now a religious Muslim; alhamdulillah.

Answer: I have repented from my past sins and have been a practicing Muslim since 2015 (alhamdulillah). I have been praying regularly, fasting regularly, and giving zakats since then. My relationship with parents became better, cleared out my debts (Islam puts emphasize on clearing debts), and tried to chip in with voluntary worships here and there.

May Allah (SWT) accept my worships/good deeds, forgive my sins, and grant me and my loved ones Jannah. Ameen.

Glad to hear it!

No still alive , going strong, both are very fit for their age and eat very healthy.

I would say to anyone, please if you fell out with your parents and they are alive to make things better. I've never had an issue as they are very chilled out but I know of friends who are still devastated their parents have gone while they were not on good terms.

I see. Glad they are alive. Take care of them and collect good deeds in sha Allah.

Yeah. Some folks have bad relations with their parents sadly. Some parents are difficult; some children are difficult. So, issues can arise.

May we do the right things.

Like many posters the opportunity to look after my parents who are old is my biggest achievement.

I have completed both Umrah and Hajj separately with me feeling i could have done better at Hajj time as well post Hajj.

My biggest regret would be not memorising the quran by heart which many friends have done.

Last but not least not completing my degree. It’s no regret from my side just my kids have a go at me every time i push them to do well academically.

Just want to ensure my family has enough to live off without me. Luckily my wife also works and earns more than me.

If I were to depart right now, I would regret that I would not be alive to see how the world would change past 2030 with the advent of AI/AGI/ASI.

May Good bless your family.

Remember that the ONE who brought them into this world will look after them too.

No regrets about the past but wish to die on Islam and ask everyone to make Dua that I do Insha'Allah.

This is one thing I like about religious folk. They are not afraid to die. Thanks for the kind wishes for my family 🙏

I wish all the best to you and your family too.👍
