Imam-ul-Haq and Mohammad Hafeez take Pakistan to a five-wicket win in first ODI against South Africa

PRetorius is bowling lots of slower balls, will be difficult to score against on this pitch. Intelligent stuff!

Valid point. Lets hope then that in crucial matches he can either keep it down or edge it for 4 or 6
 
This is why Imam is actually good for the ODI team, fakhar goes out there and has a dip and if it doesnt work out Imam can hang back and attempt to build an innings

Need to rotate strike here and not get bogged down, basic cricket.
 
Fakhars issue is that he is trying to shovel everything to fine leg, he will always be slow on the ball if he does that. Needs to aim for midwicket

the commentary during the ind/aus series was so energetic and got you in the game

Until imam scores against decent sides then hes not proven anything. Most of our openers butchered poor teams. Thats why comparing after 20 games is pointless unless they played similar types of teams.
 
I dont know any other exceptional opener some guys want to replace Imam with. If there is one you guys should give a name as well.
 
must say imam ul haq has proved me wrong this tour. I still think there are better batters than him, but he is not too shabby

It’s not about there being an exceptional player to replace him. It’s about being there on merit. Shan has been tearing it up in the List A scene for 2 years now and deserves a chance ahead of minnow badger Imam.

Agreed. But we never had a good opener since Saeed and I dont think there is anyone in domestics as well.

Zeeshan Malik and Farhan, still have to play some cricket first.

Is there anyone you think should be the opener?

Shan is the replacement. I think both Shan and Imam should be in the team

He is in the squad and you cant drop Imam just bcz he has performed against minnows. He hasnt played much against top teams. In Asia cup he was scoring runs while others were falling like sticks.

Shan Masood is really an improved player and can be really good but you cant force someone who is performing out to adjust him.

3 lefties in top 4 is but one dimensional unless they are exceptional and Babar has an exceptional record as 1 down player, why should that be changed.

Shan can even play in middle order,Will do better than the two seniors I am sure.But beyond our management thinking ability.
 
pretorius is safrica's best all rounder. knew this for years. but he rarely gets a game due to quota policy

Malik isnt gonna be dropped till the end of the world cup unless something extreme happens and Hafeez gives 6th option however if he struggles with bat he might have to make way.

Babar will do even better as an opener. Right now he is struggling against medium pacers as the ball is not coming onto his bat cleanly. Imam is lefty too so 3 lefties in top 4 is inevitable once Harris returns.

Hafeez and Imad can't be in the same team. It's a waste of space.

Shans been in good touch and in squad so should be tried out.

For me the middle order is more of a worry and weak. Malik, hafeez and sarfraz are not world class or even top class middle order players.

Hitting in the air and hitting sixes early in the innings as an over rated thing among Pak fans. He has played much better shots in his career than that one.

I am more interested in taking 4,5 singles through rotation than hitting a risky pressure releasing six on the 6th ball.
