What's new

Imam-ul-Haq and Mohammad Hafeez take Pakistan to a five-wicket win in first ODI against South Africa

Shans been in good touch and in squad so should be tried out.

For me the middle order is more of a worry and weak. Malik, hafeez and sarfraz are not world class or even top class middle order players.

Harris at 4 will add more solidity.

Hitting in the air and hitting sixes early in the innings as an over rated thing among Pak fans. He has played much better shots in his career than that one.

I am more interested in taking 4,5 singles through rotation than hitting a risky pressure releasing six on the 6th ball.

Once in a while you have to show the opposition that you are in the contest. There is no better way than to hit their best bowler for a straight six. Rabada was rattled

Yes and that puts too much responsibility on our inexperienced top 3.

I guess we have to accept and be ok with the fact that we are going in the world cup with Sarfraz as captain, Malik and probably hafeez as well in the middle order unless something extreme happens.

Imam has an odi avg of 63 with 4 hundreds which is very good, though it is not from top opposition. Looking good and trying to lock down his place as an opener for the series

I loved it but I know Imam would have been in trouble on this forum and in his career had he missed it.

If Malik and Hafeez are a guarantee then you can't afford Imad. Shan or Haris should play instead of him.

Tuning in again.

Is it true Imam charged Rabada and hit him over his head for six ?!

Rabada to Imam-ul-Haq, SIX runs, pumped! Wow! Incredible hit. Short of a length ball rising across him and he just skips down the track, winds up and swivels towards midwicket as he slices with a flat-bat - straight over the non-striker! Some connection that

Babar needs a release shot to the good length delivery outside offstump

Imam is more than good enough for this mediocre side. I am tired of repeating myself.

It’s a big six

Imam is one of the most mentally tough player to come in last decade.Always plays fighting knocks.Respect

South Africa didn’t understimate Pakistan or bat too slowly; they chose the right target for this lineup but the bowlers so far have not bowled according to the plan.

If they lose today, the blame should fall on the bowlers. You simply do not let this miserable Pakistani batting lineup chase 260.

You are a genius sir Recognised his talent

I didn’t recognize his talent, I recognized the lack of talent in this team. Imam is not a world beater but you don’t need to be one to get into this minnow level batting lineup.

So now this team is mediocre with Rabat, Miller , Pretoriius Imran Tahir. Remember Imam is player of minnow team so should be strugglingbig time here.

Better with strike rotation, now its about sensible game management in a run chase for once.

I’m talking about Pakistan not South Africa.

Mamoon always keeps the excuses ready, he just can't ever be wrong, can he? it takes a man to man up and accept he was wrong, anyone of us mortals can be, but not him,,,

So far so good from him in this tour.I was not sure he will score 30 plus with good strike rate in Odi but he has done it.

You can't take credit away where it's due.

If we win, it's solid batting.

Our batting is weak, but if we win it's a good show for these young kids.

His innings against Ireland in the test showed me enough of him to see he can perform in crucial times. You need such players. He repeated that in Asia Cup as well.

He would one of the players to watch out from Pakistan in the world cup if he plays, I know many will laugh and will disagree with me on this comment.

Among new commentators I really like, Sangakarra, Laxman and Clarke. Ntini is a poor addition till now

This Phehlukwayo is not good enough to play for Zimbabwe and he's a regular for south Africa.
Makes Pandya look like Kallis.

If only they also blooded likes of Saud shakeel as well before world cup. Maybe our fortunes will change once all seniors left.

No need to take risk against Tahir, there is enough loop holes in the bowling to compensate

how do you feel about under 19 pak losing to afg under 19 and bangla under 19?

in 10 years pak cricket will be obsolete

This is the time when it gets to slow down here. Last year SA were 127/3 chasing 275 against us and bowled out for 201.

Its good to see two young guys forming a partnership , asking the selectors to trust the new ones. Sick and tired of seniors.

Yes but then it could have been one of the youngest teams in the tournament and that would have put pressure on Mickey and Inzi.

How do you feel about Pak U 16 beating Aus U 16?

I am bit concerned of the batting order... 3 all-rounders coming to bat one after another... I guess management needs to tinker with it... I am sure imad wasim is the best batter among the 3 so I would definitely like him to bat higher... For me the batting order should be like
Imam
Fakhar
Babar
Imad wasim
Shoaib malik
Hafeez
Sarfaraz
Faheem
Shahdab
Hassan
Shinwari
