456 in 9 games to equal and 8 games to surpass.
I don't know, he needed to score big here to give himself a good chance.Highly unlikely but he can get a 100 against teams like Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and one of Associates in Asia Cup

He needs to score big here to make it easier.
It will be difficult to get 400 in 7-8 games against SL and India.

Pakistan's latest minnow basher.
Not impressed.
Well he can only bat against who he’s facing and who he’s faced so far he’s played well. Let’s not give him a bashing until he doesn’t do it
against minnows?

We don't need to deal in these kinds of backhanded apologia.
A batsman is tested by the bowlers he faces, not the batsmen of the opposing team.
Who could Imam possibly have faced today who was better than Rashid and Mujeeb?
Thats nonsense.
Sure, the runs are good.
But if you play Uganda, Kenya, Zimbabwe C and Sri Lanka B and get to 1000 runs its meaningless as it comes.
The argument is not about the worth of Imam's career runs, but about the idea that we need to wait on on some specious, better quality attack before can begin to say things about his true mettle. There is no better quality attack in this tournament, or indeed the world, than Rashid and Mujeeb. We don't have to wait, even if we cannot yet conclude, because the evidence is already coming in.

Still making it sound like Afghanistan is the benchmark.
Looking at it he was struggling against the 2 best bowlers there were close calls his strike rate got worse through the innings made up in some way by hitting 2 fours and a six of Nabi whose a part timer.
The evidence suggests he won't be stroking masterful 50s and 100s against better bowling attacks.
For spin bowling I would say they actually are. Who has a better LOI spin attack today? But is that what we are arguing about?

Much better than the likes of Khurram Manzur and Shehzad. I think Salman Butt should finally take a retirement.
With this 100, one thing is for certain: minnow basher? Imam ain't!
He can be a key member of our world cup winning squad![]()

Wow. One innings and he acts like this. What has gotten into these young Pakistani players. More drama and antics and less performance.
How i miss the Pakistan team of 90s, they will beat sides for fun and wont bother with antics or atleast their consistent performances matched their antics.

I used to think the same but it's Nostalgia if anything, I remember reading that even in early days Wasim sledged Viv, so it was always there just that they were very hard working and ready to learn.

In a team where the typical opener is no more useful than a can opener against a team like South Africa and that too playing outside the UAE, in that context , it’s good enough for sure.In 2019, an opener scoring a hundred at strike rate of below 90 is simply not good enough.

His job should be defined , he needs to bat through till 35 - 40 overs at strike rate of 85 - 90 , the others around him have to try and push the score.
Two accumulators are enough for OD , Imam and Babaar , there no space for third.
you don't have to be Einstein to figure that one out, but some of these pakistani fans lack the brain cells to process that information.
babar can play freely if imam is the accumulator
I personally think Babar is NOT a batsmen like Yuvraj or Rohit sharma or Kohli. Problem of Pakistan is basically the roles are not defined.
Pakistan in fact probably do not have batsmen who can accelerate consistently and win games . They need to define the roles.
