Imran Farhat vol.2 is batting right now. Batting after getting two ducks so his confidence may be a tad low.

Hoping for him to do well!
 
Batting beautifully at the moment! 26 off 13 and has just hit a massive massive 6. 101 metres.

This is to support the best batsman we've had in a long time, unfairly dropped for hacks like Hafeez. In his last LOI, he scored a 50. We ask for him to be reinstated at the top of the order. After all, he's the classiest opener we've had, even eclipsing Anwar with the class of some of his great drives.

He has a slightly below par average, due to playing in some tough conditions. He won us a test against the Aussies, the only one we've won in about 15 years. Butt's fear of him, meant he was targeted by sections of the media friendly to Butt.

With him and Jamshed at the top, our opening combo shall be the most dangerous in the world, with a century stand every game. One of the most consistent batsman we have. I demand his inclusion in the Pakistan Squad for the next series and for the coach to ensure that Hafeez does not target him
 
A better opener than nazir or hafeez + he looks better when he attacks.

He's a class act, should be in the team. Pak need proper batsmen like him. :yk

He was always good, an excellent player, unfairly maligned by captains who were scared of him and the brainless Afridi. His talent is greater than Jamshed's and with his experience, he can easily surpass Kohli
 
Remember there was a time we all thought Yasir & Farhat would be the way forward in ODIs... and then they both went fishing and never came back! That's the biggest problem with both these players.. they keep getting caught in slips, although tbh this problem is not unique to just them... almost all Pak openers have this problem once the ball starts moving.. they are so used to throwing their bat at balls that are away from their body that this is bound to happen. Even Butt got out this way..

To be fair, I think it's the fate of all openers to be dismissed in this mode as Anwar once said "Cricket is a funny game, one day you're in form and all it takes is one delivery to take the edge... and on other days you're not in form and you smash the same delivery through covers for four" (or something like that :P)

But the better batsmen will score more once they are set in, and THAT's what sets apart good openers from the ordinary ones. Since you're bound to get out early in many games when the ball is moving, you compensate by scoring big when you survive. Farhat & Yasir Hameed just didn't do that enough (along with tons of other openers, in which you can also include Hafeez, Malik, Taufeeq Umar, etc.). Once you've done the hard work of surviving the first 8-12 overs, you're supposed to stay there and keep playing. So that's why we've kept chopping & changing our openers for the last 9 years.

I don't mind the chances we give to these tried & tested failures... because they always go back in domestic games and start scoring 100s. Because the truth is, in the meanwhile, their replacement openers don't impress either. So our hopes continue that we will find someone who can score big once they're set. Jamshed is one that we're going to try... we still have to find another.

Kohli can't play spin with the authority Farhat does. And Farhat's dab to third man is better than anyone else's in the games, it goes much finer than others can
 
tbh...he is miles better than Afridi and prob better than Hafeez as well

Yeah, the merge was weird. This isn't the OFFICIAL support thread. Farhat doesn't have one. For a great like him, it's atrocious how fickle we fans are.

Despite playing majority of his games in seaming conditions, he has a great average in tests!

calling for the return of the biggest TTF of them all

Dont need him got enough openers in...

Ahmed Shehzad, Nasir Jamshed, Afaq Raheem, Shahzaib Hassan, Awais Zia give them a run of 10 years like Farhat and hafeez have got, its their turn now

Imran farhat is a dasher. Don't know how to rotate the strike and rides on his luck when the field is up.

His average after so many matches tell you everything about him. I would rather open with :kami than Imran farhat

Nothing compared to how Farhat handles him in Domsetic or the class with which he handled a much superior Warne. Plus, his leggies are better than Kaneria's were
 
I think Nasir Jamshed dug the biggest whole in Farhats coffin which he will not be able to crawl back from... What do you have to say to that ?

The knocks Jamshed played since his comeback have been a treat to watch and were greatly appreciated by some of the cricket analysts and commentators who praised him very highly and is one for the future

And now its just up to Ahmed Shehzad and Afaq Raheem to knock the stuffing out of his opening slot, though Hafeez has done a great job of that already himself

Can not agree with you any more...Just look at his current form..Plays a classy marathon innings of 88 off only 116 balls...Hafeez and Nazir can not score at this strike rate even in limited over cricket!!!!

Ahmad Shehzad and Usman Salahuddin playing in the same match are no where near him....

I feel sorry he missed a ton today..But that does not mean much ,a class batsman like Farhat does not need to score every time to make a comeback...!!!

Funny thing is mr ilyas did not go out to bat for him.... If Harris sohail got a 100 or for that matter anyone else you would be praising him, some people are just such hypocrites

Because Farhat is a tried and tested failure at international level. Why bother look into his domestic form when it is blatantly obvious that he is good for domestic cricket only?
Haris hasn't played for Pakistan yet and he has had an amazing season. Everyone is bound to be excited and we hope be fulfills his potential for Pakistan as well and doesn't flop like Farhat.
What is hypocritical about this?

i remember when him and daddy in law threatened the selectors back in the woolmer era.
he has massive connections and a innings like this will probably get him selected.
remember recently when was selected Iqbal Quasim said " you cant drop him he has been averaging close to 30" :facepalm:

I doubt that will happen. Unless farhat scores a century. Even in that case, they should play with both farhat and jamshed.
 
It's funny that farhat gets picked on a pitch with no swing . We will be cursed with his presence in the 11 for some time I fear

A lot of the hate on this forum for him comes from the suspicions over his continued (at times unmerited) selection over years. This has blinded their judgement over how Farhat has progressed. Over the past couple of years, he's actually improved and domestically he's topping the charts (as an opener).
 
The improvement is clearly visible, fact of the matter is he really has become Vol.2. I wonder when will people ever get over their Vol.1 hatred.
 
When a guys been around for 12 years and played 40 tests at an avg of 31 i thinks it's fair I judge him on his international stats, he has always been a domestic bully and that coupled with his father in law always guaranteed selection in the squads . One game won't make me change my views. Jamshed should have been given the series. He already made 46 on difficult pitch.

Jamshed is very good and should be in the side BUT in place of Hafeez and not Sir Immy.

So that means you don't believe players can improve over time? You say he's been around for 12 years but he hasn't played for Pakistan (in tests) for two and a half years.

So he made his debut in 2001, people say Hafeez has been around for 10 years but he didn't play for a good chunk of those. Fact is we can do better than farhat. Because of this innings Jamshed will be on the bench for at least 5 games. I find it amazing people are attacking me for not believing in a player who avgs 31, is a lousy fielder and has had issues with every coach he has played under internationally
