Imran Khan has just 15% vision left in right eye, family blames medical neglect [Update@post823]

Such is the clownish and cowardly nature of Munir and his mental state that people are being arrested for singing this song at wedding.

Imran suffering from ‘serious’ eye infection: PTI

The PTI on Tuesday claimed its incarcerated leader Imran Khan was suffering from an “extremely sensitive” eye infection, which could damage his eyesight permanently if not properly treated, while his sisters questioned the veracity of the claim.

In an official statement, the PTI, quoting ‘credible journalistic sources’, said that the former prime minister had been diagnosed with central retinal vein occlusion in his right eye, which had caused a dangerous blockage in the retinal vein.

“Doctors have stated that it is an extremely sensitive and serious medical condition, and if timely and proper treatment is not provided, there is a severe risk of permanent damage to his eyesight,” the party claimed.

The PTI claimed that the jail administration was insisting that the treatment should be carried out within jail but doctors were saying that the treatment was not possible within the limits of the jail.

The party stated that a petition regarding Khan’s medical check-up had been pending before the court since August 2025 but had not been heard. It urged the government to allow visits by the family and friends in light of the report about the infection in his eye. It has demanded that the treatment be allowed at Shaukat Khanum Hospital or any other reputable hospital of his choice.

Claims about treatment at Pims

However, Imran’s sisters contested the report that their brother was suffering from an eye infection and underwent treatment at a state-run hospital in Islamabad on Saturday night.

According to a senior doctor at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences, the ex-premier was brought to the hospital under strict security on Saturday night for the procedure, which took quite some time. “Whatever procedure was going on, it was completed when the time reached in the am. So we can say that he was taken back on Sunday,” he claimed.

The doctor said there was “extraordinary movement” on Saturday night and the operation theatres and the anaesthesia room were cordoned off ahead of Mr Khan’s arrival at Pims.

Another doctor, however, denied this and said it was better not to discuss it as the PTI would make an issue out of such a development.

Speaking to reporters outside Adiala jail, Aleema Khan, however, said she was not in a position to confirm this news.

“We have not been allowed to meet our brother for the last three and a half months. How has this news been leaked out to the media and who has told a journalist about Imran?” she wondered.

Uzma Khan said she met her brother for 20 minutes on December 2 and he did not mention anything about his eyesight during that visit. She recalled that Mr Khan had mentioned something about his eyes in a previous meeting that was held two months before their Dec 2 meeting, saying that only eye drops were given to him. She said they were not aware of his eye condition since they were not allowed to meet him in jail.

Noreen Khan said that if the news regarding Imran’s eye was correct, it should have been shared with the family. “They test us by spreading such rumours and have done it in the past. However, if they tried to damage Imran’s eye, their eyes would not be saved,” she warned.

PTI MNAs file fresh plea

Also on Tuesday, PTI MNAs arrived at the IHC to file a fresh petition seeking permission to meet Mr Khan.

Speaking to the media outside the IHC, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said that Tuesdays were the designated day for meetings with Imran.

He said that the party leadership had approached the IHC chief justice multiple times but had not been granted a meeting.

Imran Khan underwent ‘20-minute medical procedure’ at Islamabad’s Pims, confirms info minister

Information Minister Attaullah Tarar on Thursday confirmed that incarcerated PTI founder Imran Khan underwent a medical procedure for an eye ailment last week at a hospital in Islamabad.

Speaking to Geo News, Tarar said the former premier, who is imprisoned at Rawalpindi’s Adiala jail, was taken to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) in Islamabad for a “20-minute” medical procedure on the night of January 24.

“Eye experts examined him in Adiala jail, after which they recommended that it was necessary to take him to Pims for a small medical process. Last Saturday night, he was taken to Pims on the recommendation of these eye doctors and experts,” Tarar said.

He added that at Pims, Imran’s “eyes were further examined, and after his written approval, a 20-minute medical procedure was performed”. The ex-premier was then taken back to the Adiala jail with “important instructions”.

“During the medical procedure, his vitals and everything were stable. He’s absolutely healthy,” Tarar stated.

The minister asserted that “all prisoners” have access to doctors and medical treatments when such an issue arises. “This is in accordance with the [jail] rules, and he is absolutely healthy,” he added.

Asked about the concerns raised regarding Imran’s health, Tarar reiterated that the PTI founder was “absolutely fine”.

The minister stressed that it was the medical experts’ opinion to take Imran to Pims for a medical procedure. “He is absolutely fine, and he was also perfectly fine when this medical procedure was being performed.”

On Tuesday, the PTI said it had learned through credible reports that Imran had been diagnosed with central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO) in his right eye, “resulting in a dangerous blockage in the retinal vein”.

Citing medical experts, the party had said that if not treated promptly and properly, CRVO could cause permanent damage to his eyesight.

Also on Tuesday, PTI MNAs filed a fresh petition before the Islamabad High Court (IHC) seeking permission to meet Imran.

According to a senior doctor at Pims, Imran was brought to the hospital under strict security on Saturday night for the procedure, which took quite some time.

“Whatever procedure was going on, it was completed when the time reached in the A.M. So we can say that he was taken back on Sunday,” he claimed.

The doctor said there was “extraordinary movement” on Saturday night, and the operation theatres and the anaesthesia room were cordoned off ahead of Imran’s arrival at Pims.

Federal, Punjab govts misled nation on Imran’s health: Shafi

Special assistant to the chief minister for information Shafi Jan on Thursday said the provincial government and the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) had consistently expressed serious concerns regarding the health of jailed PTI founder and former prime minister Imran Khan but the federal government continued to issue false statements.

In a statement issued here, Mr Jan said the federal government secretly shifted Mr Imran to Islamabad’s Pims hospital from Adiala Jail. He said the confirmation of the development by federal information minister Atta Tarar was actually a “charge sheet” against the federal government itself, exposing all its lies.

“Despite serious concerns about our leader’s health in jail, access to his personal physician is being denied in a blatant violation of his fundamental human rights,” he said.

The aide to the CM said that although the PTI founder was shifted to a hospital, his family members and lawyers were deliberately kept in the dark, which was evidence of criminal negligence on part of the federal and Punjab governments and the jail administration. “We condemn this act of the federal and Punjab governments,” he said.

Mr Jan said that if the “fake” federal government did not immediately allow access to Mr Imran’s personal physician, PTI would decide a tough course of action.

He added that the federal government had trampled the Constitution and the law, while clear court orders regarding meetings with founder PTI had also been blatantly ignored.

The CM’s aide said that the insensitivity shown by the federal government regarding the former prime minister was extremely unfortunate and that the corrupt gang forcibly imposed at the federal and Punjab levels, should not be blinded by political revenge.

He said that KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi visited Adiala Jail on Thursday to meet Mr Imran but was not allowed.

Mr Jan said that illegal restrictions had been imposed on meetings with the jailed PTI founder, which constituted a clear violation of court orders, the Constitution, democratic values and fundamental human rights.

He said that despite keeping Mr Imran imprisoned in false cases, the “corrupt clique” remained fearful of his public popularity.

The CM’s special assistant said the PTI founder’s politics revolved around public welfare, strengthening democracy and economic sovereignty, whereas the current federal government was entirely focused on political revenge instead of providing relief to the people.

Criticising the Punjab government, Mr Jan said the health sector in Punjab had reached the brink of collapse, and that the report of the Chief Minister’s Inspection Team itself stood as a clear charge sheet against the Punjab government.

Now are Gov's own journalists turning against them. And I wonder where these instructions are coming from🤔:)

You chosen a name for your self which is

Emran = Name of a Prophet
Abbas = Name of a major Sahabi

If that is your real name, your parents chose a noble name for you so they wanted a child with noble manners.

I’m sure if people were doing bhangra on the news of Nawaz Sharif’s death, you wouldn’t be too pleased.

Like u said everyone is going to die, today it could be me, tomorrow it could be you. Just don’t understand why you’d waste your time wishing death on others when we’re going to face the same fate.

Wishing death on Khan, Nawaz, Bhutto etc only for you to not know whether you’ll outlive any of them seems a bit silly.

Compassion? You don’t have to know someone or have met them to be upset about their death.

You’ve had far away relatives who would’ve died, who you’ve never met or known. You wouldn’t be upset about their deaths?

Imran claims only 15pc vision left in right eye; SC forms medical team to examine PTI founder
The Supreme Court on Thursday ordered the formation of a medical team to examine former premier Imran Khan’s eye, after a report submitted in court quoted the PTI founder as claiming that “only 15 per cent” vision was left in his right eye.

The SC also directed that Imran be allowed to speak to his children. It was ordered that both the eye inspection and the phone calls be conducted before February 16 (Monday).

The instructions came as a two-member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Yahya Afridi and including Justice Shahid Bilal Hassan resumed hearing the case regarding the PTI founder’s living conditions in Adiala jail.

Imran underwent a medical procedure at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) in Islamabad on the night of January 24 — a development confirmed days later amid an apparent lack of knowledge by the family.

“The issue of Imran’s health is most important,” CJP Afridi observed, adding that “intervention was necessary”.

“We want to know the government’s stance on the matter of his (Imran’s) health,” the top judge said, at which Attorney General for Pakistan (AGP) Mansoor Usman Awan affirmed that it was the state’s responsibility to provide medical facilities.

“If the prisoner is not satisfied, then the state will take measures,” AGP Awan added.

CJP Afridi then noted that the issue of Imran’s “telephone calls with his children is also important”.

“We are trusting the government. The government is in a good mood today,” he remarked.

PTI counsel Advocate Salman Safdar, who was appointed amicus curiae and met Imran at Rawalpindi’s Adiala jail on Tuesday, had submitted a seven-page report to the SC regarding Imran’s living condition in the prison.

In his report, seen by Dawn, Safdar quoted Imran as telling him that “despite the treatment administered (including an injection), he has been left with only 15pc vision in his right eye”.

Imran told Safdar that approximately “three to four months earlier, until October 2025, he had normal 6 x 6 vision in both eyes”. He then began experiencing persistent blurred and hazy vision, which he repeatedly reported to the then-jail superintendent but “no action was taken by the jail authorities”.

The report read: “[Imran] stated that he subsequently suffered a sudden and complete loss of vision in his right eye, following which an ophthalmologist from Pims Hospital, Dr Muhammad Arif, was called to examine him.

“According to [Imran], he was diagnosed with a blood clot that caused severe damage, and despite the treatment administered (including an injection), he has been left with only 15pc vision in his right eye.”

Adding to Imran’s claims, Safdar said he “personally observed that the petitioner appeared visibly perturbed and deeply distressed by the loss of vision and the absence of timely and specialised medical intervention”.

“Throughout the meeting, the petitioner’s eyes were watery, and he repeatedly used a tissue to wipe them, reflecting physical discomfort,” the lawyer recalled.

However, during the hearing, the SC dismissed the request to have the condition of Imran’s eye examined in the presence of his family members.

On the request to provide some books to the PTI founder, AGP Awan said it would be done after consultation with eye doctors.

Noting that the SC had received reports from Safdar and the Adiala jail superintendent, CJP Afridi said: “Most of the things in both reports are similar — the place is good, the facilities are fine.”

Noting that the issue of Imran’s meetings with his family members was pending before the Islamabad High Court (IHC), the top judge said it would be appropriate for the relevant forum to decide on that.

‘No access to personal physicians amid deteriorating eye condition’

The report detailed Safdar’s meeting with Imran, the cell conditions, the facilities and amenities provided to the ex-premier, his living compound’s description, as well as the lawyer’s process of reaching the jail.

Safdar further quoted Imran as claiming that “regular and periodic blood tests” were not conducted.

While his personal physicians Dr Faisal Sultan and Dr Asim Yusuf had previously been permitted access, “despite repeated requests and a deteriorating ocular condition, no such access was allowed during the relevant period”, the ex-premier was quoted as saying.

“[Imran] stated that for nearly three months, the only treatment administered consisted of eye drops, which resulted in no improvement and was followed by a major impairment of vision in his right eye,” Safdar said.

Imran also claimed that “despite being 73 years old and requiring dental consultation, no dentist had examined or treated him over the past two years, notwithstanding repeated requests”.

According to Safdar, Imran told him about “rapid and substantial loss of vision over the preceding three months while he was living and detained under the ‘care and custody’ of Abdul Ghafoor Anjum”, the jail superintendent.

“This concern of his was neither taken seriously nor addressed by the relevant jail authorities,” Safdar was told. Upon inquiry, the jail staff informed the lawyer that Anjum had been transferred on Jan 16, 2026, and replaced by Sajid Baig.

Safdar stated that upon inquiry, the jail superintendent informed him that Imran was currently under the care of Pims’ Dr Arif and that the on-duty jail doctor recorded the PTI founder’s vital signs three times daily.

A day ago, Safdar denied making any statement on Imran’s health on Tuesday, making it clear that if anything was attributed to him in this regard, it was “misrepresented and misreported”.

On Tuesday, the day he met Imran, Safdar had reportedly told the media that the incarcerated PTI founder was fine and looking healthy.

The SC’s order allowing Safdar to meet Imran came after the bench rejected senior PTI leader Latif Khosa’s request for an immediate meeting, but issued notices to the parties.

Diagnosis and treatment

Meanwhile, a medical report dated February 6 — signed by Pims Executive Director Professor Dr Rana Imran Sikander and addressed to the Adiala jail administration — was also submitted to the SC.

It noted that Dr Sikander had been directed by the prime minister’s office to communicate to the jail staff about Imran’s medical condition.

Imran “reported reduced vision in the right eye”, Dr Sikander said, without specifying when.

He added: “A qualified ophthalmologist from Pims, Islamabad, conducted a complete eye assessment at Adiyala Jail [sic], including slit lamp examination, fundoscopy, intraocular pressure measurements, essential laboratory tests and OCT (optical coherence tomography) of the retina.

“Based on his assessment, a diagnosis of right central retinal vein occlusion was made and hospital-based follow-up treatment was recommended.”

Recalling Imran’s treatment on the night of January 24, the doctor said the ex-premier was “brought to Pims on the night of Saturday/Sunday for advised procedure”.

“At the hospital, the treatment plan i.e. need for administering anti-VGEF intravitreal injection was explained in full to the patient. Accordingly, an informed consent was obtained from the patient prior to the procedure,” Dr Sikander stated.

He reiterated that the procedure was carried out in the operation theatre under standard sterile protocols and monitoring, adding that it was “completed smoothly in approximately 20 minutes”.

In his report, Safdar said Dr Sikander’s note was provided to him by Imran’s family and it did not “contain full details of the episodes”.

“Nor does it identify the qualified ophthalmologist who conducted the tests and administered the treatment,” he highlighted.

My 2 cents on current IK health situation.

In my opinion the current regime is trying to paint a picture where they are showcasing that a reconciliation with IK is currently happening which would be good for country in the long-run. Before I begin, I'd like to say that its clear as day to me that Asim Munir and PMLN will never let IK be out in public let alone a chance to participate in elections. The cruelty that has been dished out over the last 3 years have left permanent scars on many families, this is not going away and I'm sure about this. IK hasn't endured 2.5 years of imprisonment, assasination attempt and numerous legal and humiliation cases to let everything forego whilst the power still remains with Establishment.

Therefore in my humble opinion the current regime is currently creating a smokescreen.

This smoke screen is needed because Shahbaz and Munir are going to exchange handshakes with Netanyahu in Washington DC next week. Pakistan has committed to sending troops to Gaza in March as well.

The regime knows very well that such images and actions being taken by them will be inflammatory and will carry a huge public backlash. This is why they are floating the idea of IK comeback / release (he will never be released in public) so that once Pakistan and Israel are on the same table the social media (which is largely affiliated with IK / PTI) is not very loud that the world hears it.

Basically these images are a lollipop being given to public at large and social media so that when Pakistan does sign a deal with Netanyahu the reaction can be tamed slightly as public affiliated with IK will not want to jeopardise the positive movements with IK.

For any person doubting this just ask yourself. When was the last time IK's real message came out directly to public? Obviously through his family (sisters). If a lawyer can meet an ailing prisoner then why can't family? Why are his kids being denied a Pakistani visa? The public at large totally believes that the family would give IK's unfiltered views to public which is why they aren't allowed to meet him and hence we don't really know the message that comes out are coming from IK or not.

There is no reason for the current regime to make life easy for IK at this stage as they totally own everything in Pakistan. The only reason I can foresee is them signing the deal with Netanyahu next week in DC which is unchartered territory for Establishment that's why they want to manage the public as much as they can by floating positive news about IK. Rest assured IK will never be released in public by this regime. Please don't forget the barbaric stuff they have done over the last 3 years, they have dug a hole so deep there is no way out of it for them now without relinquishing power and they are certainly not in mood to relinquish power.

May Allah SWT give him Shifa. This is why when asked about Pakistan being a Muslim country or Islamic republic, you take one look at how they treat each other and you’ll see it’s just a name, the government is barely able to uphold basic rights of other humans, even for non violent crimes in the country (assuming he even is conviction worthy- Allahu ‘Alam) but hate fostering and war mongering extremists are given free reign and can roll up to wherever and take out 50-100+ civilians along with them. Wish those punks had this level of scrutiny, instead a man in his 60s who tried to better the country and was by no means perfect is being subject to such conditions

May God bless him.
Imran Khan isn’t mere mortal but a loving embodiment of Pakistani soul, identity and history.

For everything he’s been and meant to his nation and its people, this inhumane treatment to him will always be a curse on Pakistan and Pakistanis.

“PTI founder will be treated abroad if necessary,” says Tariq Fazal Chaudhry

Federal Minister Tariq Fazal Chaudhry has assured that the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, will be allowed to receive medical treatment abroad if necessary, ARY News reported.

Chaudhry said, “If the PTI founder agrees to be treated at Al-Shifa Hospital, we have no objection.” He emphasized that the health of Imran Khan is the government’s priority.

The minister clarified, “We have no personal enmity with the PTI founder.” He added that Imran Khan undergoes daily medical check-ups to monitor his condition.

Going by @emranabbas logic, losing his eyesight would be considered “minimal.” That seems to align with the mindset of dictators and apparently even the senior-citizen plastic Barbie occupying the office of Chief Minister of Punjab, because in their narrative, IK is a terrorist, and somehow 80% of Pakistan’s population is labeled the same. And when you label everyone a terrorist, you conveniently justify the harshest punishment imaginable.

There are ex cricketers and some journalists in India speaking about treatment meted to Imran, as well as news about this recent conditions of the eye. As per reports he has only 15% vision left his in one eye.

So, why are Pakistani cricketers like Shahid Afridi, Wasim, Inzi etc not talking about his condition?

You are making 1947 freedom fighters sound like Avengers from Marvel movies.

Imran Khan already proved that common man can take on the fauji dictators. All he needed was public backing but the public went to their homes and locked the doors from inside.

At this point, it is only symbolic that Pakistani men's usual wear is a Shalwar which is considered a feminine wear in Bharat.

I wondered why they wore janana clothing but now as an adult and looking at the way the Pakistani men turn into scared mouse at the thought of a Fauji coming at them with a danda, ikind of understand why they do that. Its fascinating behaviour not seen in most other nations where men can still shake regimes.

It's not enough.
A generation has to suffer for securing a better future for the next generation. Its not just about PTI, but the entire nation should have revolted against the dictator, brother.
I am hurt right now because of Imran Khan's situation.

They are already suffering for decades. But you know from whom? Not Pakistanis.

Bangladeshis. They told this establishment to stick it where the sun don't shine. Consequently, 25% of the country and 50% of the population was off limits.

If only (West) Pakistanis had 5% of the courage.

One day, they will just say Imran Khan passed away in his jail, alone. The man who achieved everything in his life but gave it all away for the people of Pakistan and these people will just say sorry to hear that bro and move on with their lives. Laahnat on such beghairat people.

Baggy shalwar is worn as far as central asia and even kurds in iraq and Turkey, its the dress of horseback warriors since baggy trousers aka salwars are comfortable and dont restrict movement it originated on the eurasian steppe.

Salvar Greek word saravara (Greek: σαράβαρα), which is in turn a borrowing from the Scythian *šarabāra, both meaning "Scythian trousers," possibly indicating to it having been introduced with the nomadic culture of the Turkic peoples,

As for shake regimes why should pakistan shake our army when its the greatest army in the world fighting hindu and afghani sponsored terror .

True or nautanki?
Sometimes suspicious questions hit you more than blatant anti-pakistani/Imran statements. There are so many posts on this in this thread, Whole World media is talking about, this is reported widely in India, and here comes a hater just to show his true colours with this question.

Tu nautanki hi samajh, koi farq nahi padhta.

Awwww, breaks my heart.

Khan the sher and cheetah is the last man standing and resisting. This man is not a human being.

Tables will turn one day.

I was always into football, found cricket boring until 92 World Cup, watching this sportsman confident like Mohammed Ali and Diego Maradona. Waking up early hours of the morning before school to see him walk in at no.3 in the World Cup final like it was a Sunday afternoon walk in the park.

20 years later I met him for the first time, shaking his hand it was clear this man has no fear and is willing to lose in order to win.

They can take away his freedom, take his eyesight but he will never bow down to puppets. He will lose his life in order for Pakistan to win. Whatever happens to Imran the days of the corrupt, the family dynasties, their bank accounts abroad, their ideologies are numbered.

Congrats to resident Pakistanis.u r on the way to become North Korea. Nawaj Sharif, Musharraf can get pardon and go abroad for treatment but not imran. He was a leader irrespective of his ideology. This is a huge blackmark in pak political history as its pak spirals down a forever dictator/puppet pm mode.

I'm not sure why you see this as anything new.

Pakistan has had 4 democratically elected Heads of State
Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto - Hanged
Benazir Bhutto - Assassinated
Nawaz Sharif - Convicted and jailed and only released after he agreed to become a military puppet
Imran Khan- Currently in jail

I'm sure Imran entered politics with the aim of becoming Prime Minister in the full knowledge that he'd either be assassinated or rot in jail. He agreed to be puppetted by the military initially but once he broke free, this treatment was almost inevitable.

It's really sad what he's being subjected to especially since he's barely corrupt by sub-continental standards but any other end was impossible.

If they are not liars, they must reveal some photos to public:

They are worse than liars, they are the lowest of the low. This is a criminal organisation, one of the biggest in the world who will kill or harm any Pakistani if they come in their way. However even the biggest mafia have fear, they are now scared so are scheming some plan.

IK never agreed to be a puppet, he is by far the most popular leader in Pakistani history. The Establishment had no choice to stop his victory at that time. None of his policies were anyway puppetry.

Epstien files shows the Zionists feared him, so ordered their puppets to take him out of public office.

What people dont understand, Imran Khan is no longer a person, its a movement.

I'm only speaking from his own interviews where he said he wasn't really running the government and 'everybody knows' who was taking the big decisions. He also said he used to call the ISI when he needed an important bill passed. I'll try to find the interview for you. How much he was the military's puppet can be seen by his improper extension of Bajwa's tenure.

To his credit, he did rebel towards the end and tried to break free from military influence which is why he's in the situation he is now. All Pakistanis need to support him though the cause is likely hopeless at least in the near future.

Puppets dont speak this like this, he was exposing the so called democracy countries think they live in. He extended Bajwa because he felt there was no reason not to. You've been reading too much from Pak papers or Sharifs boys.

Not many nations have a leader like this, UK never has and India never will.

Imran Khan will eventually die due to old age and mistreatment. After him the fauji suwar will rip apart PTI and then Pakistan will continue to be ruled by their puppets PML-N and PPP for generations. While being supported by people like @emranabbas who feed off the bone thrown at them by the establishment

Since it is a puppet regime they can keep getting IMF bailouts to extend their stay. The West specially America always hates rulers who can't be controlled and that is why IK was removed.

When you think about it there are parallels between Imran Khan (Pakistan), Mohammad Morsi (Egypt) and Aung Sang Suu Kyi (Myanmar).

Amreekas $ is on the verge of collapse. People have no clue what is to come in the next few years. These haramis have already taken the national debt to 80trillion. The more they loot, the quicker their demise.

I'm not sure why you see this as anything new.

Pakistan has had 4 democratically elected Heads of State
Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto - Hanged
Benazir Bhutto - Assassinated
Nawaz Sharif - Convicted and jailed and only released after he agreed to become a military puppet
Imran Khan- Currently in jail

It's really sad what he's being subjected to especially since he's barely corrupt by sub-continental standards but any other end was impossible.

Its fine till 20 years ago as per pak standards. No body expected such brutality in social media age.worst thing is that establishment are not even bothered to hide or pretend it. Field marshall was sattending business summits along with pm and dealing himself. It says a lot about their mentality and the belligerent arrogance towards the people/democracy. Army have finally decided to let slip their mask away .now they want to be the king on the throne forever than the cunning minister behind the scenes.

I wouldn't put a genocidal maniac like Aung in the same category, eventhough that stuff happened later on. Morsi and Imran, there are parallels.
Yeah Suu Kyi really went bad once she was in power. She was good while a freedom fighter but revealed her true colour when in authority.

Moral of the story from this is- you might have mass support and be popular but at the end of the day most masses are just your common and average people looking to meet their ends and get on with life. However to be a politician you need to have street power or powerful allies. If you don’t, the man/establishment/the power or whatever you want to call it will crush you mercilessly and ruthlessly.

Imran unfortunately neither has street power nor powerful allies.

USA, Russia,India, China, Turkey, Arab countries or even Taliban should have stepped in by now to mediate but maybe sensitive time to bring this up but looks like no one is interested.

For example- Sheikh Hasina could reach out to India. Eventually when things cool down. Good chance she will return.

Iran’s king ran away to USA.

A lot of anti-Taliban Afghan government heads got refuge in other countries.

doesn’t deserve this but I would say he did overplay his hand without calculating pros and cons.

Before people say Imran chose to stay in Pak and call it brave. bravado is not always required, sometimes restraint is also being brave

Puppets dont speak this like this, he was exposing the so called democracy countries think they live in. He extended Bajwa because he felt there was no reason not to. You've been reading too much from Pak papers or Sharifs boys.

Not many nations have a leader like this, UK never has and India never will.
I won't continue this since it's a sensitive issue and you obviously adore him but I would have a lot more respect for him as someone who was trying to free Pakistan from the influence of the military if he'd done one or more of the following

- Spoken up denouncing the influence of the military while he was in power rather than when he was out of it
- Not made multiple public statements claiming he and the military
- Broken the pattern by refusing to extend the the tenure of the Army chief...after all, he'd finished his legal term

Even Nawaz Sharif made 'mujhe kyun nikala' statements after being deposed and criticised the army for it's interference. It's what you do when you actually have power that truly reveals your intentions.

To Imran's credit, he's been a lot more open in his criticism than previous guys like Nawaz and Benazir and most importantly, he seems to have learned his lesson and refused to strike a deal and compromise.

West Pakistanis should learn from the bravery of East Pakistanis. 50+ years ago they said tata to the same establishment and today they have conducted a successful election.

And have voted in the favourites of their establishment while disenfranchising close to 30% of the population.

I'm pleasantly surprised Bangladesh have conducted what seems to be a reasonably fair election...I had assumed the military would find a way to cling on to power but let's not go overboard on thinking everything is hunkydory. The military has tasted control behind the facade of a near 90 year old puppet and could snatch the slightest excuse to grab it back.

The only people Pak fauj fight is their own. That is the reason even a hindutva govt wouldn't send soldiers there. Why bother? The Pak military is doing a fine job for them, jailing Imran Khan was the chef's kiss 👨‍🍳
