India (150 & 487/6d) beat Australia (104 & 238) by 295 runs in the 1st Test of Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25

They did not lose due to bowling. Last 2 series, it was their batting

No he is still top tier. He has no support from starc. Hazelwood has been good but Cummins has serious issues vs lefties. That's the problem. Bumrah at times does too vs nz in Latham and Conway. He has gotten them out but with new ball he isn't as effective when he has to use sg ball

No. Cummins' pace is not what it used to be . And the accuracy is gone as well.
 
Cummins had a bad test match. He was getting bit arrogant by keeping his feet in world cup trophy, saying how he enjoyed silencing the crowd and how no Indian players will get in his side etc etc.

Hopefully he learned a lesson here and will be humble going forward.

To make things worse this australian side's average age is 33 and they have only one player under 30 years of age who is on debut.

Half of the team should be retiring. They are not what they used to be and kudos to Indian team as well. They have brilliant in australian conditions.

I only hear these excuses only when India tours there. If they are so bad, why your team got whitewashed here 12 months ago?

Mentioned that at the end of Ind-NZ series.

No reason why India can't win in Aus with all their pace bowlers and Lyon 4 years older than what they were in 2020

Yea no. Nz just caught india without 3 of the key players. Rohit and kohli ruined things.

And they got bulldozed by lanka just before that series.

They will never ever win in Aus.

To be fair the likes of Abdullah Shafique, and Babar are inferior in talent to the likes of KL and Jaiswal. Theyre probably on par with Devdutt Padikkal or slightly better maybe.

Also, Pakistan don't have Test class bowlers whatsoever.
 
Can't see what Australia can really do. If they have a green top India has Bhumrah, Siraj, Shami and equally capable bench pacers to run through the Australian batsmen.

If they come up with a flat wicket India has the batters to post 500-600 runs and to grind down their bowlers and Bhumrah can easily take the wicket out of the equation.

If they opt for a spinning pitch, India has Ashwin, Jadeja, Washington and equally adept players of spin. Australian batters are very poor against spin and Lyon is their only credible spinner.

Can't really see how Australia has any chance against this Indian team which has all bases covered and brimming with complete confidence knowing that they permanently own the Aussies.

Amazing how test cricket equation changes. Few days ago we were predicted to get a phainty and this was called one of our weakest teams ever by many. This is a miracle

Tbh Pakistan was in a winning position in the second and third test, its the closest we have ever run an Australian team in Australia in test matches for a very long time. Even Gilchrist praised the Pakistani team for running Australia close in comparison to previous test series. The same Australian team lost to West Indies at home afterwards and have now lost 2-1 in an ODI series at home to a Pakistani team who were whitewashed at home against Bangladesh a few months earlier. The alarm bells should have been set a while back. I was surprised at the expert predictions making Australia favourites over India.
 
Could well be wrapped up in the first session tomorrow. Aussies haven't really turned up in this test, one way traffic aftet 1st innings. Hope we get a closer contest in the next 4 games although this huge defeat could permanently break their spirits

Why are you bringing Pakistan into this thread. Pakistan doesn't even beat teams on their home turf.LOL.

Aussies still favourite to win the series as long as rohit and kohli play.

Kl rahul I have zero faith in him. He only has one good test per series. His quota is finished.

I still think given india is likely to win this test it will be a 2-2 draw
 
Pathetic performance from Australia, they’ve got loads of problems to solve which have been brewing for a while and (now) no time to do it in. Also some old boy passengers in the side but their selectors have put no pressure on their places & haven’t been adequately preparing any younger guys to replace them. India will win this series.

NZ were alot closer to winning the 2 tests vs Aus this year than the results show.
Cam Green played a freak of a knock 1st test, adding over a 100 runs with Hazlewood.
2nd test no O'rourke and Henry+Sears were the only ones bowling.

Tim Southee's woeful form was the reason NZ lost, if a fully fit Jamieson replaces Southee, I'd back NZ to win.

ideal scene wud be when he goes unsold or under paid in Ipl after his comments. yet to read his verdict in auction which is underway as i type i feel

Rohit is good against bounce, wouldn't count him out yet. Kohli now has some much needed confidence. Kela is not too bad overseas.

true. although kohli has ensured play till old age visa with his 100 off 140 balls today .
