India (150 & 487/6d) beat Australia (104 & 238) by 295 runs in the 1st Test of Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25

KL Rahul would likely have been dismissed within 2-3 overs anyway. His Test average of 33 speaks for itself. Yet, some of my fellow Indian fans will continue to dwell on this decision for the rest of the series. Despite being 32/3, it’s Rahul’s wicket that seems to bother them most. Ironically, this is the same KL Rahul they were demanding to be dropped from the Test team not too long ago. :kp :inti

This match is gone. Australia has played 4 matches here won all 4. No team could challenge Australia here. The current India is the last team that was going to challenge them here. Their schedulign is spot on. Their most comfortable ground.

By the end of this tour, which excuse will we see from Indian fans? Pick one.

1) Umpires were biased.
2) Aussies were racists.
3) Dog ate our homeworks.
4) It was too hot.
5) We didn't have a full team.
At least Indian team makes excuses for their losses.

Your favorite teams excuse is
1) Bat is too heavy for Mushfiqur
2) 22 yards is too long to bowl phast
3) Macchi was not served in breakfast.
🙄🙄

We are likely to lose the match but that doesn't change the fact Rahul was not out. :kp

KL always score 1 hundred overseas and then score nothing in entire series. Today was looking like that one hundred wala innings. However umpire cheated him out.

How long will India carry Kohli. He is literally living off that one T20I final innings... :danish (unless I missed some gem recent knocks)

Aussies were not able to get KL out and resort to cheating.

Not surprising usual suspects are cominh out to support the umpire.

How? lol That is not a edgy sound. THat was a soft fluffy sound. You touch a ball you immediately turn around. KL Rahul didn't move an inch.

It’s not a guarantee.

Many batsmen don’t turn their head on thin edges especially when the bat hits the pad too.

Look I can see the argument but I didn’t feel it was as clear cut.

So you stick with onfield call not overturn when there is so much doubt. Pretty much all the commentators including Aussie commies agree with me.

Stuff like this happens. Time to chin up and fight on.

Only thing if this were any other batter than Kl, it would have lit a fire under them. KL will probably sulk rest of the series

I probably would not have cared if it wree Kohli as he would get out soon. KL Rahul unusually stuck around. Usually he plays one innings per series. Made a 100 in SA in tougher conditions like this. So that was a crucial call given the lack of practice , injury concerns etc.

I have followed Indian cricket team for a few decades but first time I see players with very difficult names to pronounce; Yashasvi, Devdutt Padikkal, Dhruv Jurel. It's not straight forward.

He will be the senior statesman once Kohli and Rohit are gone. He will hang around the team for another 2 or 3 yrs.
He can't guide any youngster amd moreover he can't survive on his own with his random returns.dravid is not the coach,so it does not help him either. Now 5 test matches against aus and eng each means he will be dropped atleast 2/3 times before the completion of both series

It's really not hard to pronounce lol.

Jurel should be thinking to himself "why this indian team is so pathetic that everytime I have to save them whether it's A or Seniors"

To be honest so far Jurel Has looked very solid and compact, lot of assurance in his batting.

Whenever you said X,Y players look solid and after that they has thrown the wickets. So can you please avoid that jinxing line . :dw

Jurel gone , Washington will be next man in , big game for him , he is replacing Indian legends like Jadeja and Ashwin.

Basically it’s Pant or nothing as expected.

Brutal batting apart from KL.

So Dhruv also gone. India is gonna be bundled out for less than 100 here

It now depends on how bad Australia bat and how well Indians can bowl in the next innings... I have a feeling India will bat better in their 2nd innings... These pitches are at least not sluggish like Indian pitches to bat on Day 2 or 3...

Pant guy is extremely lucky player. In tests he gets away with it due to close fielders.
In lois that's why he is so mediocre.

Pant is literally the only batsmen this Indian team has.

Everyone else is either aged or overhyped.

The only one who is overhyped but has the talent to be a future atg aka jaiswal has zero experience in aussie conditions.

The 5-0 whitewash is underway, Ashes style.

Our test team is basically Pant + Bumrah + 9 passengers.

Naw he's a class test act. Being a good test player doesn't mean you have to be a good odi and t20 player as well

I would say Indian bowling is decent even without bumrah. Granted without bumrah it's still 50% weaker.

But without pant Indian batting is 99% weaker lol. Their that bad

His over aggressive approach work in tests only not in limited overs. He plays the same in every format.

Cummins has given away 36 runs in his 9 overs and is wicket less , poor bowling from captain.

No matter what BUT Pant will be the most important wicket for Aussies , he is one player whom they will fear in any kind of situation.

You are not seeing and rating his defence in between! He cannot afford to do that in LOIs... (where good balls also have to be scored off by at least maneuvering around) Since he can defend the ball with ease (any number of balls till he feels comfortable) he can launch into his instinctive strokeplay even on marginally lose balls... That's his style of playing... Yes suits very much in tests... Bit like VVS Laxman (even he didn't excel well in LOIs). Even Rahane was a bit like this... These players like to dominate & take the attack to opposition... There are other set of players like Dravid, Pujara, etc, who are different, their intension is to tire the bowlers over a period of time...

Not sure why sundar came before Reddy.

Reddy is the better batsman than Sundar and he is supposed to be the designated all rounder.

Can’t hide your players just because it is his debut.

Which is why he's a test only specialist.

Often times players who play one way such as younis khan, Steve smith etc happen to be one format specialists.

It's why I respect Travis head so much. People may laugh but an all format gun who avg 40 in test and odi and 30 with a monster sr in t20 followed by wtc and wc wins for his country is automatically >>>> One format players for me.

The only exception is past players like Sachin etc because t20 didn't exist at the time so I rate odi and t20.

Regardless kohli is the only Indian player to be > Travis and Warner in all formats. Everyone else is lower.

If this is situation for the series,it's better for ind team to come home and save everyone's time and energy.

Yeah that I agree with. It seems like australia is bit scared of him. LOL
