People don’t understand cycles. We are in rebuilding cycle - Kohli, Rahane, Pujara, KL etc cycle is over, now it’s time for Gill, Jaiswal, Pant etc cycle to take over.

Every time there’s a transition between two generations there will be a dip in results. This wasn’t unexpected same thing happened when we lost to England at home after the Laxman, Dravid, Tendulkar, Sehwag etc cycle was over.

The main question is that whether the new crop of youngsters will have the temperament to bat for long in test matches in difficult conditions or would they take us back to 90s in tests where we were a mediocre team.

Only saving grace is that test matches is finished in a lot of countries so unlike 90s the competition is not as strong in 2025, so we can still have decent results while being average.
