What's new

India [189, 274] defeat Australia [276, 112] in the 2nd Test by 75 runs to level the series 1-1

I think it is safe to say that we can only play well on flat wickets. Pakistan would crush us on a wicket like this or pune.

Don't get to such conclusions! Give credit to Australia (and also pitch)! How do you know that other teams capitalize exactly like Australia?

Also let the entire series get over! (What if in this Match Australia get beaten exactly like India in previous match?)

Nair throws it away. No need for o jump out of the crease .

To me the pitch is similar to Pune pitch except the uneven bounce.

Ball is turning miles already. It's only day-1.

BCCI does not learn. Indians cannot play on big turners. Lyon was giving a good rip each time he bowled

Still Nair should be chosen ahead of Rahane & Pujara from now on (after one last chance in overseas! I don't think they are the men for future) Nair at least played confidently!

Also this match is not going to go Pune way! Australia have to play extremely well to beat India in this match. At least it is going to be close match and not one-sided affair! (Rahul's determination is an indication)

I think we would have done much better if we had this Kohli playing.

Opposition also makes the difference. An average opposition can make you overconfident and complacent. (I don't think England, NZ and RSA came with enough preparations. Australia always take Indian tour seriously with preparation & also selecting their team)

Rahul should look to score a bit quicker. Saha blows.

Agreed with RamLakhan. Nair should play ahead of Rahane during home series.

Australia haven't really performed great. It's more because of India's incompetence than anything. Wasting reviews, dropping catches and inability to play spinners on turners.

Saha as useless as ever. He is a pure Tailender. I knew he would struggle.

Australia is going to demolish India in this match too. They r too hot for India at the moment

Besides, Ashwin doesn't put as much Revolution on the ball as lion does. I m expecting him to get carted around by Smith in this Match as well.

Agree with Lee, thought that was lbw, he didn't hit it.

Getting beat by Monty and Swann is one thing, but getting buried by SOK and Lyon? :)))

Agree with the posters here, don't think there was an inside edge on the Jadeja dismissal. Most likely an optical illusion because of missing frames in the video replays.

Aman if Monty had his head screwed on then i think he would have troubled India. Monty at his best is miles ahead of Moeen and Rashid. Although england did get a lot flatter pitches.

Rahul had enough of watching from other end.Atlast, decided to just throw away.

LMAO 8 :)))

Another epic fail for India.

This time after winning the toss :ashwin

This can turn out to be a crucial innings by Rahul. Absolutely exceptional batting on a raging turner. Think 200 will be a very competitive score for India.

IND not out of the Test yet, but AUS will have to play poor to lose it from here.

Brilliant bowling by Lyon.

Man . Ashwin and jadeja are so lucky to play on the pitches that they do .
Decent bowlers but very misleading stats.

Aus will be smart and they will score a quick 50 off Ishant and Yadav before spinners show up.

I can only imagine what Ajmal (when allowed to chuck) would do to this Indian batting lineup on these pitches. There's a reason Ashwin's bowling is a joke overseas.

Lyon and SOK doing this to players who are supposed to be better players of spin should say it all.

Never seen quite a humiliation like this.

Stuff of legends this :kohli2

Santner is garbage that's why.
Santner is an accurate left arm spinner who would trouble the Indian's with the ball turning away.

Lyon has been bog average forever.

Santner isn't half the bowler that Lyon is, for all the hate he gets Lyon has won Australia numerous matches.
Eh, I'd always take a solid left arm spinner over an average right arm spinner.

I've found an interesting read, I'm not sure when posting links are allowed and when they are not. But here is a direct quote and it's quiet shocking and unprecedented

There is speculation that the BCCI senior pitch curator Daljit Singh, 79, may lose his job over the wicket debacle in Pune. While Pandurang Salgaoncar is the local curator, the preparation was taken out of his hands. Daljit was in charge when the Nagpur wicket was reported, but there are reports the instructions for a turning wicket came from senior administrators in the team and not him.

Ajmal and Yasir would have rolled this Indian side for 50 every time.

Clueless :kohli2

Well if you play funny business with preparing wickets can't complain when they backfire.

Seems merit based. The pitch was graded poor by the ICC, so if his job is on the line - fair enough.

Ajmal most definitely because india always struggled against him even on good pitches not so sure about yasir because for some odd reason indians play legspinners quite decently .
An accurate left arm spinner on these pitches though .

Wow, that's just not good enough.

Ball staying that low on day 1.

Get out of here, that's another poor pitch from the Indians.

Ajmal, Yasir and Zulfi.

One of the reasons why i never rated harbhajjan either .
He was absolutely mauled in pakistan after doing well on made to order pitches in India.
Granted those pitches against pak were proper highways

Don't think, this wicket is much better. That one turned from ball one with uneven bounce, almost taking out toss - this one gave big advantage to the side batting first, which ING failed to cash. By 3rd day, this one won't be easier than Pune.

Lyonn, what a player. I always backed him as the best offie in the world. Knew he would create havoc in the series vs India. Supported O'Keefe beautifully in the last match and now destroyed the Indian batting on flat pitch singlehandedly.

But what do you make of a pitch curator being a board member in the first place?
Doesn't seem right to me.

Harbhajan soon became useless once he was not allowed to bowl the Doosra due to suspect action.......

Yasir would be quite a handful on these pitches as well.

No, if Tahir, Rashid, Bishoo could dismantle Pakistan on those dead wickets, imagine what Ashwin, Jadeja can do to them in India. Pakistan are overrated as well against spin.

May be in 1 or 2 innings but we have been dismissed thrice before 200 on our own pitches. Disgusting performance.

This australian batting innings will probably decide the series one way or the other .
