What's new

India [189, 274] defeat Australia [276, 112] in the 2nd Test by 75 runs to level the series 1-1

Australia needs to bundle India within first two sessions tomorrow, otherwise they will lose this match. Despite the crazy dismissals Indians are still more experience on this kind of pitch in these situations. Australia's batting isn't as good as their bowling.

First two sessions is optimistic. Even one session of batting will have a 200 lead which won't be easy.

I hope India sledge the hell out of the Aussies should AUS manage to lose this.

They deserve what they been dishing

I say match is 60-40 in favour of India now. Unless Rahane and Pujara get brain India should be able to post 200+ lead which will be extremely hard to chase

Its not that easy. Think one wicket will bring more. These two have done really well to settle down and bat long.

India also need to bat time as well. No point getting all out by lunch tomorrow. If they can score 80 runs a session, until Tea tomorrow, then that will give the pitch time to wear, get a good lead, and have enough time to bowl the Aussies out.

Easier said then done - again, I think if one of these get out early tomorrow, then Australia have every chance of bowling India out cheaply and quickly.

If Warner has to become a test great he needs to perform tomorrow. He got too many soft runs on Australia's flat tracks.

Australia have probably surrendered the test (series?) during the first hour of play today when they lost 4 for 7. They really needed to build that lead towards 125-150 to have a strong chance of winning this match. Jadeja and Ashwin will gobble out the Australian batsmen in the last innings. Take nothing away from Pujara though, masterful batting.

I wish I went to the stadium over the weekend.

Will see if I can sneak off work tomorrow.

At last we turn up in this series when things were looking gloomy at 35/4 ....

Any target of ~250 will be tough. Need to bat sensibly for another hour tomorrow morning.

India needs to set at least 250 target to compete.

300 is a match winning target. For that to happen one of these need to score a 100 and Nair has to score a 50 and tail needs to wag a bit.

A hundred by Pujara here will be remembered for a long long time.

These two + Nair, Saha and Ashwin should really get into up to a 200 lead however the pitch seems to be flattening out a bit so not sure that will even be enough.

sensible-indian-fan what did i say about Pujara he is a beast in home conditions. Now you just need Ash to show everyone why he is a future HOF and ATG

Agreed. The pitch seems to have flattened out nicely.

Only a 300 run target can assure India of a win. Anything less, Aus will walk away with the win with just 4 or 5 down.

Anybodies game this is,but my bet on ausis

Though their lower middle order is vulnerable warner and smith will be too vital for this chase

Also crucial inngs awaiting for mitch marsh, this is the biggest platform for him to prove his worth

India should win this comfortably now and I believe this series will be a blowout from this point onwards if that happens

Ashwin is unlikely to show anything. Dude's injury is getting worse and worse I guess.

He managed against NZ and Eng but is unable to against Aus.

If we bat well tomorrow, atleast the Lyon-O Keefe shackles will be broken regardless of the result.

And no, India is nowhere near comfortable now and I am not saying this due to pessimism. ;-)

If the Indians add 125 more runs it would be not easy for Australians to score 250. Jadeja and Ashwin would be handful on the 4th and 5th day wicket. Anything could happen though .... but not likely.

sensible-indian-fan Ashwin does look really fatigued lacks the energy in his bowling. Last time i seen him bowl properly was against WI he was bowling like a dream then didnt watch much of NZ and Eng series. Why dont India just rest him for another spinner.

Ind will win, Aus have missed a golden chance to take a 2-0 lead. I will be surprised if they get more 140 in the 2nd innings.

Jadeja vs Ashwin since the beginning of England series

Jadeja
Innings- 15
Wickets- 43
Average- 23.76

Ashwin
Innings- 15
Wickets- 43
Average- 29.86

Jadeja has been as much important to India's home success as Ashwin and Kohli. He's quite underrated despite such performance.

On these wickets he is very effective.

India's test to lose now. Australia let it slip and this will perhaps will be the turning point of the series from where on India will dominate.

BCCI is scared of losing at home without Ashwin.

Kuldeep should have been included in place of Ishant in the first test. He is the xfactor for India. He can spin the ball at pace like Lyon does.

India v Australia | 2nd Test | Bangalore | Mar 4-8, 2017 | Day 4

India 189 & 213/4 (72.0 ov)
Australia 276
India lead by 126 runs with 6 wickets remaining

If Australia doesn't pick up at least 2 wickets this session they might lose the match. Can't see an inexperienced Aussie line up chase down 200+ on day 4 or 5

Anything over 200 and it will be game over for Australia. So they have only 50 odd more runs to play with. And on this can never draw this either.

India in trouble.

Pujara cannot score. He is good for blocking.

Nair needs to step up big time here.

This is what sets Starc apart from other bowlers. He can change the match in a matter of overs.

Australia back in the game! If Pujara can't get another partnership with Ashwin Indian might lose after all.

Starc bowled that hat-trick ball at 153kph, inswinging yorker on middle and leg. What a thunderbolt.

Alrighty.

Game over for India.

India needs at least 250 to have a chance.

Now India will struggle to get 175.

4 for Hazlewood and 2 for Starc..

Their pacers troubling now..

Good to see that this series hasn't been all about spinners. Pacers from both sides have performed very well.

I look forward to reading Healy complain about Hazlewood's send-off to Ashwin :srt

Lol @ this pathetic pitch.

That ball barely bounced. Ashwin bowled under the bat.
