What's new

India [189, 274] defeat Australia [276, 112] in the 2nd Test by 75 runs to level the series 1-1

This is pathetic batting, you shouldn't be driving the quicks on this pitch.

Don't think our bowlers can replicate Starc and Hazzlewood. Though they have bowled well in the 1st innings and also in the series against England, but it's always bowling "well", but never seen them taking a cluster of wickets.

Atrocious shot in the circumstances. Now comes in Ishanth. This poor guy tries to defend every ball like a top order batsman. Lol.

India can still win, a batting collapse is very much possible. Nobody in Australia is as experienced as Pujara on indian wickets

So reminiscent of our last 3 batting collapses. Losing the last 5-6 wickets for literally nothing.

Aus were very loose yesterday, should have never allowed India to post lead of more than 100 on this crack heaven pitch.

Beautiful test match. The team to hold nerves in final innings will win. We need more matches like this, flat tracks be damned

Warner will score a rapid 50 and match will be over before you know it.

250 was needed to have a chance.

Warner better scores today, otherwise he will remain a poor man's Sehwag in test. At least Sehwag scored double and triple centuries all the time

Look at the way the pitch is playing, if the Indian quicks bowl stump to stump it'll be really hard to score quickly.

Ashwin got a snake ball.

You can't Ashwin for his dismissal. That kept pretty low.

He played a loose drive the ball before his dismissal and tried driving the ball that bowled him. Yes, it kept low but everyone knew that this pitch was behaving in this manner and he should have tried to block anything straight.

Poor shot selection.

Ishant and will umesh are terrible. Watch them bowl shot and wide. I have no faith in Indian pacers when it comes to defending low totals.

This pitch is taking skills out of equation. You have to pray that the he ball does not t hit the crack.

Ishant is crap but Umesh doesn't look that bad from the little I've seen of him.

Ashwin and Yadav have denied India a healthy lead. should have batted with more responsibility.

It's tough for bottom half batsmen to survive against this pair on this wicket with new ball. IND picked 6 batsmen & just about few months back even our Mamoon was envied with the batting quality - I expected more from op 6 to be honest. Expectation from Ashwin with bat often is a bit misleading, because of those 4 hundreds against WI.

Saha isn't doing any good here - if he not taking singles then try to hit out. What I have seen is that this wicket is toughest in morning session; give Aussie openers few overs before lunch.

Saha should score some runs before getting out. Blocking balls is waste of time, the pitch will get flatter as day goes on

Ishant :)) Showing the people above him how to do it, dead bat the quicks and take on the spinners. :))

Saha is doing the right thing too, waiting for half-volleys and full tosses and not playing any expansive shots to the decent length balls.

Manjrekar has to be one of most boring commentator. he just can't control his emotions. He is like Ather ali khan of India.

I am highly surprised by the skepticism here . . . There is no way on earth Australia can overhaul this score on this pitch . . on Day 4/5 . . with Jadeja and Ashwin and Yadav in the other team . . Like I said yesterday . . anything above 150 is India's game

Why do batting lineups these days absolutely struggle to take form from one day to the next.

Pakistan have been specialists in it for years but Ive noticed now almost all teams suffer from this affliction.

The team could be batting like a dream one day and making the pitch look like the flattest Faisalabad pitch you've ever seen. Then there is stumps and when play resumes next day the whole team is back in the shed in the first session.

Ashwin is injured. He is struggling.

Yadav has not won my trust just yet.

Jaddu is the only real threat.

PP specializes in attracting wrist slitters of all nationalities.

Though its not safe yet. If Australia are chasing under 200 I'll give them a 35% chance

There is no skepticism. Tons of people including me are keeping India favourites. Australia can collapse anytime

Okeefe getting no turn. This pitch is easy to bat against spinners. Pacers will be the key me thinks.

Australia Need 188 to win !!

Congrats India, this should be an absolute cakewalk...... Australia would do well to go past 50% of that score.......

I will hit the next person who says Ashwin is an all-rounder..Brainless batting from him today when India needed it the most

sensible-indian-fan Ashwin does look really fatigued lacks the energy in his bowling. Last time i seen him bowl properly was against WI he was bowling like a dream then didnt watch much of NZ and Eng series. Why dont India just rest him for another spinner.

We may have to do that.

This is going to be a close match. This pitch eases up during second half of the day. I don't understand why people think the Aussies will be shot out for a low score. I would say its 60-40 for Australia with this total.

Exactly.

If anything Australia is more ahead than India.

70-30 to Australia.

If India defend this, they will maul Australia on the remaining matches.

If Aus win this, they might whitewash India. Indian confidence will be shattered.

Ashwin is as much allrounder as Virat Kohli a bowler. Scoring 4 hundreds against minnow west indies doesn't make anyone allrounder.

It's a 4 day finish for sure - if Aussies are to chase this, they'll do it inside 60 overs.

It's the biggest test for Kohli today - he has got a small total to defend on a difficult wicket with 2 of the most successful spinners ever on these wickets. Imran defended 221 against a far, far better batting lineup against spin, without 3rd Umpire, DRS & 3rd country Umpires.

Pitch is offering no turn to spinners. Okeefe looked ordinary and Lyon was also ineffective.

Pacers who can hit the cracks consistently will be rewarded.

Who do you think will win?

And only one of those 2 spinner is bowling well.

Don't curse me, if I am proven wrong - but I think AUS will win it by 5 or 4 wickets. In 1st innings, they actually batted 123 overs, which indicates ineffectiveness of Indian spinners. Probably, they'll go after the bowlers now. Warner will go for a Sehwag like impact - quick fire 35 & target is 50 less in no time.

Spinners are getting not much help from the pitch. Our pacers aren't as exploitative as theirs. If anything, Australia should have more chances of winning this, but given that this is a must win in order to win the series, I feel our bowlers will pull it off.

Damn....you may very well be right.

Need some magic to win this.

Kohli will get traumatized for a few weeks at least if India loses, he would've never imagined losing a series at home to a team that got whitewashed by a transitioning Sri Lanka few months ago

In between, our bowlers are improving their cast - fast bowlers have to over step for their reputation; so Subashis got Mendis for a 1st ball duck, that effort took his heel 3 inches further than where it should have been:(

Those who're saying this will be a cakewalk- even if that happens we can't take it for granted these days. There have been around two dozen batting collapse since 2015. No target is safe until it's reached.

Aus should win here. Some one needs to just play 60-70 runs and game will be done.

If we lose this we should just hand over the border gavaskar trophy to australia and request them to stop embarrassing us further.
