It was never easy on a track that was giving so much assistance for spinners. India had Kuldeep and Jadeja who exploited the conditions very well.

Mendis was a "mystery" bowler. He failed to adapt his bowling past the carrom ball gimmick.

Wellalage is a classic left armer. No tricks just drift, spin and control. His bowling will stand test of time if he keeps working hard.

Batting is harder to predict. He may have an obvious weakness yet to be seen. And SL batter take ages to mature but basics look good.
