What's new

India [250, 307] defeat Australia [235, 291] by 31 runs to win the 1st Test

lol, what a shot.... few more shots and India is going to give it up.

8 runs in this over. 4 more like this and it's done.

32, more....

one more over before tea.. For God's sake... take out Ashwin...lol... He is the only bowler incapable of getting a wicket :wa

Stop bowling Ashwin give it to Shami. He has not even created a single chance let alone taking a wicket today.

If Ashwin can't even get tailenders out on a 5th day pitch, he should better make way for Kuldeep.

Great fightback by Aus. Top order should hang their head in shame.

lol, the fair weather 'Aussie' is here. Now watch him disappear, now that 'his' team has lost.

Pant's drop catch really costing India big time.
Meanwhile Ashwin can you please make yourself useful by atleast picking one wicket on a day 5 turner? Useless bowler!

Should have not take the single off the last over.

Congrats to team India and its fans.

One of the best test match in Aus despite Aus being behind by a lot.

All they needed was one batsmen to show up in the second innings to win this match.

Hopefully they show up for the rest of the matches otherwise this series is gonna suck. Kohli didn't even score runs in this match.

India’s gonna cry all night for being overjoyed at getting a healthy lead and serving the last 5 wickets on a platter in 3rd innings.

Something about them.. they always lose all hope when the going gets tough and become complacent and lose focus when they start winning.

Almost like, they forget to do what got them to a good spot..

Especially the likes of Khwaja who were touted to be in great nick.

Honestly speaking , this match was won by Pujara. he dragged Indian out from 60/5 to put 250. India would have lost the match easily.

But well played, Cummins, Lyon and rest of Aus lower order bats.

Top performance from their lower order, not only did they bowl well but had to bat as well lol!

True. Shows how vital Kohli's runs are for India. And then some clueless souls say his runs are meaningless.

For India to post a sizable total, at least 3 Indian bats have to bat well, led by Kohli.

So excuses have started to flow. Quite early, isn't it?

Congratulations to India.

Worst Aussie Top Six that I have ever seen in my life.

But still, India did the job, so well done to them.

Pretty much all batsmen except Pujara played rash shots in this test match. It was a poor effort by all of them.

Terrific game, and great fighting spirit shown by the Aussies. Never count them out as I always say, they will fight to the end.

Well done both teams.

Earlier
Indian batting line except Kohli is mediocre, they are over dependent on him

Now India wins without Kohli's contributions
If not for Pujara,India would have lost the match

As if Pujara isn't a part of Indian team

Our neighbors will always find a way to discredit our No.1 Team :vk2

Thats why 4/4 was such a sorry effort by Indian lower order bats in 2nd innings.

Congrats to all Indian and Indian supporters in this forum. Little was their ever any doubt about who is the best cricket team in planet earth but hope this victory gives some wisdom to naysayers. 1-0 in 1st test is a great result. We may very well be 1-1 in Perth considering it suits Australian style of play but hopefully we will win again in Sydney or at G to win the series. The first Asian test team to do so.

This win means that India would retain No.1 ranking for some more time. Hats off to Ausi's tail, they came really close to target.

Congrats India.

Happy for Pujara. Only me, swashbuckler and proactive were his biggest supporters and knew he will win a big match for India single handedly. Once again showed he is the best clutch player in the world.

Australian tail made India sweat profusely. I don't think India will win this series. Australia will gather self belief from their lower order fighting and come hard at the Indians in next matches. Without Warner and Smith this Australian top batting line up is a house of sand actually and looks like Australia B team .

A very good test match. Both teams can be proud of their efforts. Pujara was the difference. What a champion this guy is!

Tough work for bowlers but a nice win never the less . I dislike drop-in pitches which are completely benign on day 5 .

Enjoyed the quality of bowling in this Test from both sides. Batsmen however seemed sub-par (Pujara being an exception).

Massive win for us. Kudos to Aussies for giving us a great fight.

Now can we please continue to have intensity and do well at the new WACA? Get in Bhuvi or Jadeja in place of Rohit to have 5 genuine bowling options.

They are playing at home and would blank most teams at home. Its their B team is a myth by naysayers. If a test match in India for eg, I would expect India to beat any team even without Kohli or Pujara. So Aussies missing out on Warner/Smith is not that big as it made out to be. On top of that, they are playing all their main bowlers together after a long time.

Ashwin bowling is disgrace compared to lyon who is extracting so much bounce and turn but this guy is just floating the ball with no effort behind the delivery

Missed today's play because of personal reasons but glad we pulled it off. Great all round effort by our 4 man bowling unit and kudos to the Aussie lower order for their indomitable fighting spirit. Happy to see Pujara get a MOM award in a SENA country, his performance in all 3 of our overseas victories this year has been top notch. Curators have done a top job and hope Perth provides similar excitement, test cricket zindabad !!!!

Epic test cricket!!!

Ashwin has already cost india two winnable matches, one in joburg and the other in south Hampton by bowling like a toothless sissy.

He nearly cost india third one

Ashwin is the worst front line spinner to ever play for india overseas

Nah, he bowled poorly in second go, but created chances. Also he kept it very tight and allowed pacers to rotate. Can't be the worst ever.

This is your 4th post in continuation about Ashwin on this thread . Can you summarize it once for all & relax .

Outstanding exhibition of fast bowling by Indian pacers especially Shami and Bumrah. Brilliant to watch.

The Top 6 of Australia batted like Pakistan - at a snail's pace. At one point in the first innings after 60 overs, Australia's Run Rate was less than 2. That is how Pakistan bats and by following their footsteps, Australia truly deserved a loss here. Had they been more enterprising and played at a run rate of 3, they would've added another 120 runs to the total given the number of overs they batted in the match. If they continue playing that grinding style of cricket which was never the Australian way, they will lose every match of this series. You won't get a better opportunity to win the Test match especially when you have Kohli failing twice.

Indians bowled very tight line so it was not as simple as batting same number of overs and scoring 120 extra. Yah, they are defensive and that's due to not having experience in their batting line up.
