What's new

India [337/6] beat New Zealand [331/7] by 6 runs in the third ODI to win series 2-1

Colin de Grandhomme trying his best to lose the match

Grandhomme the match loser. Is he playing for an IPL contract or something.

Need 15 from last over... too hard. Congratulations India. Nichols wicket was key.

Grandhomme lost kiwis the match big hitter he cant hit a full toss useless player

He has a wonderful mindset.

Just not good enough to be reliable in this flat track era.

Would have done so much better in 80s.

sure. but not sure if we have a better one day bowler. Md Shami probably. If we were just using 1 ball, then definitely Shami due to reverse swing. Not sure about his death bowling skills though.

India should hand Colin de Grandhomme an IPL contract and Man of the match award for this spectacular performance. Singlehandedly lost the match.

That's an incredible death bowling from Bumrah yet again. His spell single handledy won the game for India. Take a bow young man! Congratulations on reaching 50 wickets Too!

Bumrah needs man of the match bowled pretty good in batting conditions.. But I think Rohit will get it batsmans game this

8 off 11 when you come in at required rate of 10 +

ikhees toppon ki salaami Colin ke liyay

:salute

IPL contract for grandhomme plz.

Useless absolutely useless.

Missing a clutch finisher.

Looks like we had the match won before the runout.

Well Done India, comes out on top more often than any other team in close games

Indian batsmen scored > 300 = flat pitch or the batsmen are really good
Indian bowlers bowled well bowling especially at death = either the bowling was good or pitch was not flat

Confusion........

Good come back from India.

Bhuvi 10 overs for 92 runs and 1 wicket, as I have mentioned earlier he is a very limited bowler especially when the ball doesnt swing

Williamsons innings wasn't exactly useful. After facing 70 balls be should have been closer to a run a ball. He lacks impact in ODIs.

All these guys criticising Grandhomme, you may want to watch Burmah's bowling. He was too good on the day.

Lmao India having life/death with the kiwi fruits in their backyard :)))

Give guy a break, it was a flat track even bolt went for run, and dew was a huge factor here coz it comes early got to hand it to chahal and Bumrah, but Bhuvi did bowl well at the death.

It was more of NZ losing it than India winning it. Ind were 20-25 runs short with that big partnership. Out-of-gas players almost cost the match. But Latham is really good, I can see traces of M Hayden of Aus in him. All in all, good effort from Indian fielding unit also. Good show NZ. Now the T20s are to be taken care of.

30 from 3 overs with wickets in hand

I shouldn't be mad as we got close to India in India, but man you should chase that down....

Really disappointed.

Where was Ashwin today, he would have been very useful on this wicket and India would have won by an even bigger margin

Dropped.

Maybe he might have done well today (based on Chahal and Santner's returns but dunno cos I just saw the match towards the end).

I think he has to work on certain issues. Ashwin of today is a pale version of what he was in 2010-11 (when he was excellent LOI bowler, very clutch too).

These days, he gets carted around too often on flatties.

His stats show that he struggles on most wickets to get wickets

I can only see 1 good inning off Jadav that was against England so dont think he will last long but lets see.

2 good innings against England.

Check 3rd match of the series....Almost made us win out of nowhere. We lost narrowly.

Also saved India from a defeat vs Zimbabwe in 2013 (or 2015?) with his century.

Also a 40 odd against NZ in last year's ODI series at 1100 SR when others were scratching around.

Memory is not a reliable yardstick.

Ok not bad but most Indian posters here dont rate him thats why i did ask you.

Most posters are too trigger happy.

I remember Yuvi after his brilliant debut CT 2000 series struggled for a lot of games. If we had dropped him, we wouldn't have won any tourneys later on.

Not saying Jadhav is Yuvi but you can't be too quick to judge him as crap. You got to see trends.

Jadhav is someone who can score at 100 SR. Can save the team. There is potential.

You gotta back him. If he flops even then, atleast it was a good test.

Dinesh Karthik on the other hand.... :)))

Great match, I was actually watching this one. Once again a bowler is robbed the MoM - scorecard won't tell what JB did today.

Terms & conditions for Jadhav to justify his
Position :
Play with 100+ SR
Improve his fielding
Bowl 6 to 7 overs every match

Also, surprising is the fact no one mentions Rohit's almost-cost-us 100. 140 at 108 SR is no good, it should have been 120 or 115 atleast.

And talking of chances, this 'talented player' was given longest of long ropes for 60-70 matches along with 'great allrounder' jadeja for as many matches during the height of Dhoni's reign. It is a pity that people do not rememeber those days. Also, Axar in the team. According to me, atleast 3-4 selections - Dinesh, Dhoni, Axar - are useless.

I thank India for helping us out with ranking :) Hopefully NZ on way down.

I'm happy with the performance, I didn't expect us to play as well as we did especially after such a long break. Even though we may have lost, they deserve praise for pushing India as far as they did at home.

Latham was impressive this series and has shown great potential as a middle order batsmen.

Not down on Kane's innings as others here are, this is how Kane usually plays for us and it works... he's the anchor that holds one end while the others around him look to take more risks. He started well it was just in the middle where the spinners started to dry up runs that he was forced to play a shot he normally wouldn't.

Poor batting from India on that road of a wicket. There is a lot of bounce, but nice easy pace to play your shots.

It was more of a 350-370 type wicket. Rohit and Kohli consumed 80% of the balls and only scored 250 between them.

Not to forget the inability of the middle and lower middle to accelerate.

Bowling was decent. BK had a very poor game. Nothing was working for him.

Great chase by kiwis. They should have won the game. Latham was terrific and Munro has announced to IPL franchises that he will be a great asset.

Rohit & Kohli cannot accelerate at their wish because they know that the middle order is fragile. Even Pandya can get out trying to hit something. If Indian team had prime versions of Yuvraj, Dhoni, Raina... in the middle order, I guess Rohit, Kohli, Dhawan can start playing more aggressively... At least they can keep such psychological things (of weak middle order) out of their mind and start playing calmly (guess what happened in CT finals trying to play aggressively chasing big total).... Also there is no need for Pandya to come at No.4 if we have proper middle order... That would mean Pandya can do his job of power-hitting and can also learn a way to hit even seamers... At the moment since he is asked to come at No.4 he is being selective in attacking... Also its affecting his bowling... Indian LOI middle order (whole batting order) looks rubbish actually, also bowling to some extent. Indian Test lineup is far more formidable right from the beginning to the end... I always felt that Rahul should be one of the opener even in LOIs, we need some solidity at the top, and not just flashy players. Dhawan can play at No.3 and Kohli at No.4 for a while. Kohli is anyhow getting out at times to the new ball. I think Rahul can be as effective as Kohli in the Top 3 (preferably as opener! I know Dhawan/Rohit partnership looks great given that they are left/right hand as well! We would have stuck to it at least if we had solid middle order!). This adjustment should be done at least because of the weak middle order and many passengers there! If Pandya has to be effective in bowling (at least 5th bowler job, 3rd seamer job), he should be relieved from this additional pressure of batting at No.4, it doesn't look fancy after a while!

Definitely a wicket where you fancy chasing 350+ , this sedate style of Indian batting is worrying, your points are valid

Your Superhero Williamson should play in IPL under Virat KOHLI :kohli2
this will improve his Game :))
