For tests, Pant is still the long term option. However, he needs a break from competitive cricket for a while.

I don't think Samson has the game to survive in test crcicket. We really don't have enough option and the best to go with is Pant. Need to be a bit patient with him, he is not going to average 45+ in tests but a 38-40 test average with improvement in keeping should do it for us.

Saha averages 18.50 in Australia and scored 8 runs across 2 innings in South Africa. Let's not make any mistake. Saha is useless with the bat.

saha is not just trash. He is really bad as a batsman. Imagine this fodder batting in SENA rofl. walking wicket.

Atleast pant can contribute with his 30 plus runs and actually has shown ability to perform in SENA nations.

He is a great wicket keeper for sure but a terrible batsman.

bring in K.S bharat or samson who desevres a chance if pant is mediocre. Samson averages 37 in first class. Good enough for me although sputh african keepers somehow average 45 in domestics lol?? I don't know how but ok.

he is horrible. I don't give a Damn about his reflexes if he can't bat. Yea he is like superman and takes catches but we need a proper batsman who can keep.
buttler can bat

India's bowling is world class but they are terrible batsmen in SENA countries. ishant can sort of survive.
umesh is slogger lol but boy do3s he have power hey. Strong man.
bumrah lol can't bat if his life depended on it.
shami similar to bumrah.
bhuvi can bat. very good bat actually.

vs australia their number 8 is cummins who is a an excellent bat in home conditions.
Pattinson can bat too. That's the issue. So they bat deep till 9 at home just like india in their home.
one of the indian quick bowlers have to develop some defensive batting skills to survive in SENA. I believe ishant has shown some improvement.
 
I don’t think current young WKs including Pant will have a long Test career for IND. Saha is absolutely magic with gloves behind sticks and he’ll remain at peak for at least 3-4 years for his fitness level & nimble structure - by that time, next young WK on keeping merit will make it through. Pant has scored couple of fantastic Test hundreds, still he was dropped for Saha, which suggests Think Tank is reserving the Test WK spot for specialist, don’t see this changing until INDs batting declines considerably.

Giving all credit to batsmen, India's recent Test dominance can be attributed at least 90% to the bowlers and I actually don’t blame our batsmen on first day show - put in to bat most teams will struggle to better that against the bowling display that day. And, these bowlers will demand for a WK of whom they are confident - as long as Kohli is Captain, that wish will be granted as well. Saha will play close to 80, if not 100 Tests for IND, as he doesn’t play other formats and can easily manage 12+ Tests per year for next 3-5 years. He isn’t a batting rabbit either, has two (3?) Test hundreds as well.

He has played too few games in SENA to be honest, and performed well in WIN as well. I think, he bats better under crisis, and often is sent to slog, which doesn’t help. He saved Indian innings once or twice in WIN, and that WIN attack was good.

I think Naim should be tried in Test. It is not like our present openers are setting the world on fire.

There are many attacking batsmen who end up doing quite well in Test.

I actually thought India will try to score 700 or above and declare towards the end of day 3 when it gets dark lol. Now, considering the form indian bowlers are in their own conditions, it will be good achievement for bangladesh if they can manage to drag the match to day 4.
 
Show some spine boys - bat out the new ball, I think it'll be a bit comfortable this morning than the first one.

Ishant bowling like a dream. He has to be the most improved bowler in the current world of cricket.

From being the butt of jokes to a premiere bowler who can produce wicket taking balls at any stage of the match.
 
Still feel Litton is too good a batsman to bat so low, i understand he has to keep but he has to bat higher....so too with Rahim....just enjoying our pacemen bowling with wheels...yay...:salute

yes takes time, just like it took India about 70 years to find such a fast bowling attack despite being 8 times more in population than bangladesh

I used to have this much fun seeing pakistan bowl once upon a time. Not often the bowling it self is worth watching so much.

Well, BD have the passion...am sure with their economy getting better if their cricketing infra improves, no reason why they cant get better...
 
Unlike BD in their first 2 decades in test cricket, India didn't get that many opportunities to play top level cricket. And for their first 15 years in international cricket, they were essentially a team representing Britain.

Are you sure BD is on the horizon to produce batsmen like Andy Flower, Aravinda De Silva, Gary Kirsten? . I think Srilanka and ZImbabwe produced good batsmen very early. Also SA after coming back from a long break immediately started producing great players. Not just that they could even supply players to England :) My guess Bangladesh first class system is way too primitive. They probably have to take part in county. Have some series against domestic Indian domestic teams.
 
I never thought i would ever say this in my life.....kudos to BCCI,and whoever looks after the pitches.
This pitch and the ones for SAF series were absolute gold....kudos to the groundsmen....look at where Wriddhi is taking them....and with such bouncy wickets(i hope we replicate this in FC/Ranji trophy elsewhere)-we will also breed good slipsmen...
the key to this is even bounce....as long as the bounce is even - dont care if it turns too much or swings/seams/bounces too much....the wicket in 4th test 2017 vs aus in Dharmshala was similar.
When we win on such pitches....its an awesome feeling....:hasan2
 
The "second innings shami" is just absolutely crazy, now a second wicket in his second over.
 
No wonder the Aussies are focused on "Project India 2022" despite being quite a few years away, this Indian test team is god-like level in home conditions.

You think he has idea of which foot ....., it was impulse action - short ball, swing bat. This happens when you are taught against bowling machine to play every ball. Leaving ball is the toughest art of cricket - human's natural instinct is to chase a moving object.

I don't blame them much because they haven't played this level of bowling ever. Only guy who had the chance to battle it out decided that he needed some rest.

I love when people make bombastic statements about not holding bat or losing it but cannot even tell the difference between different format of the game. One test series of 3-4 innings means someone averaging 43 cannot hold bat or has lost it completely. Just admit your bee in the bonnet about a young player

I mean Bangladesh didn't even get a single practice match in India. Considering the circumstances, add on the fact about facing number 1 test team in their own backyard, such results were expected. Sides like Australia are preparing for test series in India in 2022 from last year...

Yes that's why they are touring to srilanka,u.a.e and against Afghanistan (in India).
But it will be difficult to beat India in their home conditions.
 
Mushfiqur can bat blindfolded and not get out considering how this tour is panning out.

By the same logic, India should have annihilated every single team in all their world cup matches considering their 1.4 billion population with cricket as number 1 sport by far. Anyway, dont want to indulge in this discussion for longer, just look at what post I was replying to.
 
Our slip catching is pathetic.....
Its all ok considering the situation in this match...with due respect to BD...
but when we are touring NZ Aus...their batsmen will cash in....we cant have these kind of halwa slip fielding....

BCB was busy to fix other issues then. At least 2 FC games should be played before every Test series, but these days Test cricket (FC cricket, where you learn it) isn't in priority list apart from 3 teams, therefore this gap will widen. Test cricket is the toughest skills to master and a unique type of sports. In 1876, they were looking for a name for the first series, someone came with the name "Test", because among all sports ENG played that time (and they are pioneer of most modern sports), 2 innings cricket game was considered to be the toughest, the most complete examination of a a player's endurance and ability ..... and we are trying to master that with couple of net sessions!!!!

Bangladesh currently on 134/5, just for reference, Last six 2nd innings totals by visiting teams vs India in India: 133, 189, 191, 127, 196, 103.
 
These are somewhat similar to BD pitches. Should have done a lot better. The way they construct a test innings is very poor.

Its because of Ranjhi that India has test level players , I don’t see BD investing much in tests, except for seasoned fans like MMHS , most of their supporters prefer ODI.
