Why isn't he sorting it out by discussing with ex-cricketers? He has to play in India 50% of times (that too Test Cricket, as he is not a certainty in LOIs either). He has weird weakness! It would have been so better if we had got an hybrid between Rahane (Pace) & Nair (Spin). Actually Rahul is one good example for that hybrid but strangely he has his own weakness!

Why don't we just keep it like that. Keep Rahanae for all away matches and Karun or some other spin player for home.
 
Another failure for Rahane against spin, he is like a tail-ender against spinners, simply terrible!
 
Rohit Sharma scoring runs could be a bad result here for the long term.

shami down, Rahane out (of form) - two big blows for India....need to see how it goes for India in SA. Rohit is such a waste in tests always shaky does not give any confidence, could have asked for that newcomer to get feel of the things..or tried karun nair ahead of him ...Umesh has been terrible in this series, going by the helpful 1st pitch and in this match too..no control..

Rahane will be ok in oveseas condition..he will get back his form. Main concern is about shami.

About Rahane - That keshav guy of SA must be smacking his lips. Last time around Tahir did not give such problems for India, leg spinners traditionally do not as all know - this guy is a left-arm bowler and exactly the like who Rahane would not want to face. Still hope he improves his mental block. He could do well to visit his coach (ranji or earlier ones) so he could resolve this.

Till that time he is a worthless player who scores soft runs on flat tracks against weak opponents.
 
Ashwin took 4 wickets between them and now Kohli is nearing a double hundred. Now the challenge is how to make this pitch appear to be a rank-turner and a road at the same time, since Ashwin can only take wickets on the former and Kohli can only score on the latter.

It was a minefield when Ashwin was bowling but it has eased out now so kohli is scoring freely. We were plain lucky that SL won the toss and chose to bat. Easily explained :srini
 
5th double for Kohli.

Easily the second best of the big 4 in Tests.

They can simply say " It is only against Lanka" and thereby kill 2 birds with one stone.

We gifted that series to them on a platter bhai.

Our test team is very poor at the moment but it is definitely better than Sri Lanka

If we played them 10 times we would win 7 :)

Our 2011-2015 team would beat this SL side 7/10 times, but not sure about the current one.
 
Rahane is badly out of form. Can’t remember the last time he scored a hundred. Very poor against spin.

Rohit is pretty good in asian conditions. The problem for him is away tours.

If both Rahane and Rohit play, our middle order will be pretty weak.
 
A match is going on? It seems really boring! India should win this by an innings!!
 
It is a match going on in autopilot. Opposition wins toss, bats and is dismissed cheaply. India scores 600 plus and takes big lead. Opposition bats again and loses by an innings.
 
If you see the scorecards of the last test series that India played in South Africa in 2013, Kohli had scored such" easy" runs there too.
 
Both excel in different formats. I think KLR has the game to excel in the one dayers. He may not play the construction role that Babar plays. Rightnow Kohli thinks Rahul is not suited in the middle order for whatever reasons. KLR has lot of room for improvement in Tests. He just doesn't convert the starts he is getting.
 
Yawn. How does anyone find the time to watch this when there is an Ashes series going on?

I think I'm going to have to be more careless with my spelling too.

Another superb ton by Kholi in extremely difficult conditions. No other batsman scored a double so it much be a tough pitch to bat on. Definitely a legend in the test format.

Can't mention the flatness of the pitch because Ashwin took 4 wickets. It is always a banana skin situation when both Ashwin and Kohli perform on the same pitch.

The Indian spinners bowled very well and Sri Lanka are hardly a good batting side at the moment.

We had a shocking series against them in the UAE but that should not deceive people into thinking that Lanka are anything more than a mediocre side.

Is it possible that Kohli had a shocking series in ENG, the one you always bring to bash him but to escape embarrasement from the hands of SL, you are using "shocking series" excuse. I am not a big fan of Kohli but your hatred towards him is very obvious and evident.

I feel Smith is ahead of the other 3 by a distance now. Kohli comes next and then Root and Williamson. Joe Root has terrible 50 to 100 conversion ratio. He gets out a lot after scoring 50, which isn't good for his team which is short on batting at the moment.
 
This same SL team smashed us at home. It shows two things:

1) Pak are an atrocious team for making this SL team look like 80s Windies

2) India are an amazing team to make this SL team look like minnows

True. Pak will srtuggle in test cricket for a while. It was expected. Plus playing 1 spinner was a bad decision.

And India are the #1 team :kohli
 
Sri Lanka are so boring.

The only point of interest in this game came about in the last few minutes when Lanka were 9 down and both Umesh and Ashwin were having a go - the former on 99 test wickets and the latter on 299.

Today's result was anything but expected. Cannot be called as revenge or anything!

That was which you referred was an upset actually. Indians had proper legends in that game (much bigger than current XI. Ishant & Karthik were the only weak links probably! Even Ishant was a kind of emerging talent!) Sri Lanka though had Sanga, Jaya, Murali and Vaas. But still that kind of domination was not expected! Actually it was the mystery of Mendis which did the damage and also that Indian team seniors were having their last years... Anyhow Sri Lanka were really formidable unit those days at home! They were somehow getting that peculiar home advantage even against India!
 
India are very lucky cookies that in the first test match the first few days the rain got the better of the test match, Sri Lanka could have rolled them over.

Sri Lanka are easy opponents for india, They love playing them.

They got us out for 172 and then struggled to avoid a loss @ 75/7 with only 3 days of play. They can't beat us in TEST format unless we have a really bad game on any kind of pitch.

i probably agree with you...even if india has a bad day its no guarantee that Sri Lanka can still beat them, lol.
