What's new

India close on 125/3 and extend their lead to 257 on Day 3 of the rescheduled Test against England

Few things better than watching Jimmy Anderson with teh new ball. Especially in a situation like this

Most exciting duo of Pujara - Vihari on crease. Hope they adopt the Bazball tactics

Could possibly be final innings of Pujara's international career

We have never lost a test whenever we've had a lead in excess of 100 runs.

Sun is out. Not good for Anderson and Broad.

Overcast would be nice for England.

Still plenty of clouds out there. sun does peep in and out. Conditions favour bowling still. I wish we had sch pitches in India - true bouncy , seam movement. swing due to the conditions

Considering Rohit, Che Pu are on their last legs, & the scarcity of left handers in our line up...for an opener i feel we can try out Washi Sundar. Dude has the technique. May not be expansive with the shots but worth a try. good fieldsman and he bowls as well.

Vihari will go into a shell and ultimately give away his wicket.

Good to see Pujara realize that dead bat defense will not take India anywhere.

England should try to get India at something like 100/5.

Also, Pant needs to be dismissed quickly.

They can win.. India is one collapse away from a low total which Eng have showed they can chase..

The way Indian lower order has batted in last couple of years , its difficult to bundle out India for low total.

Broad looks to be hitting his straps, running in sharper and looks intense....some good deliveries to che pu earlier...maybe wants to make up for the first two days...

One full session still left. Backing India to score 150 in that especially if they lose one more wicket early.

No. I always thought of him as a T20 player. From what I have seen him, he is short, fat and unathletic. He also has attitude problems.

He did have attitude problems but way lesser than Ishan Kishan.. tbf that U-19 batch was Sarfaraz, Ishan, Rishabh, Washington , Avesh , Khaleel.

He is a good test prospect, and since Dravid has been with them before , it would be good to have him.

Vihari is Dravid on Steroids in playing dead bat defense. Somebody should tell him that its okay to take a single once every few balls.

In terms of run scoring, he is probably Azhar Ali or Pujara.

Why doesn't India select Chahal for Test? He is a leggie.

i dont think he turns the ball enough to pick up bagfulls of wickets. In white ball cric at least he keeps the runs down and gets wickets when batsmen try to hit him , in test crick he'd be milked for plenty.

Azhar Ali and Pujara at least maintain 25-40 S/R. Vihari is usually under 25 whenever I saw him play.

Pujara blocks vs pace as much as anyone but he looks to score runs vs spin. He is very proactive vs spin and that's why when you pull some stats of strike rate, you will find that he is striking at close to 50 in Asia while his strike rate outside Asia is close to 35.

Azhar's strike rate is pretty low considering he played so many games in UAE on flat pitches.

Dravid was different from both as his strike rate was mostly similar in Asia or outside Asia.

Vihari, I think is also same as Pujara. He will score runs vs spin and look to up his strike rate against him. He hasn't played enough games in Asia so that's why he looks slow. But I remember one game in New Zealand where he scored at a very fast strike rate and then got out to Neil Wagner in Christchurch trying to hit fours regularly.

Kuldeep is the next in contention after Ashwin retires. Chahal doesn't have many skills and variation to succeed in tests. Axar and Sundar will replace Jadeja probably.

Must say, this is classic test batting by Pujara/Vihari. I think these are the only true test batsmen in the Indian XI.

Pujara is a genuine batsman , Azhar was a leg spinner in under 19 days , thus his batting has great limitations

I guess Washi Sundar will replace Vihari. We donot seem to have enough young batsmen knocking the doors.

Have always said that Vihari isn't good enough to play even in our 3rd XI. Don't know what does team think tank see in him to persevere with him.

He isn't good enough at this level, plain and simple.

from memory, a 100 in windies , one in eng in 2018 and he delivered the draw in sydney. Other than this i cant recall any memorable knock. maybe management and bcci believes in giving himenough chances. + he bowls off spin so that the other facet to him.
But overall, a disappointment. We have to have better, younger options

A fifty from Pujara here and I think he would be back in the team.

Kohli looking determined and in good nick.

Pujara not interested in scoring any run, blocking overpitched deliveries too.

Kohli takes a single first ball, Pujara blocks or leaves next five deliveries.

lol, when did he score a 100 in England?

His scores in that series were 0 & 56.

And no, he didn't deliver the SCG draw. That was aided by efforts of quite a few players.
