They didnt hold it continuously. They lost it in early 2014 to an Australian side that beat them at home and then regained it by beating SL I think later that year.

Shami and Umesh are the best Indian fast bowler in these conditions. There's a reason why Bumrah did not play a single home test from Jan 2018 to Jan 2021.
A simple search will reveal how effective those two have been on Indian soil but who am I to stop you from going full on maatham mode.

This rant would have made sense if India is only winning at home and terrible away.
But the same bunch (Sundar, Pant, Ashwin etc.) Beat Australia in Australia in 2 back to back series. In the process they also breached fortress Gabba where Australia was undefeated for 4 decades.

At same time india has lost every series in NZ, SA and Eng in last 10 years. The whole cricketing world isnt just based on how you perform in Australia.

If India win in NZ, Eng and SA with current side they can then be cobsidered a GOAT team. Fact they havent even been able to drawn a series let alone win a series in these places in last 10 years shows how overated this indian team is away from home.
Both NZ and Eng are stronger test sides then Aussies in recent times.

India beat England 'twice' inside five days at Ahmedabad.
Australia is one of the toughest place to tour and more so for any Asian side. I am surprised you are brushing it off as if its a zero achievement of winning 2 back to back series there. Remember, ATG australian side under Steve Waugh never won a series in India.
India last tour SA in Jan 2018 when the team was not the same. We had B.Kumar opening bowling for us and passed players like Dhawan/Vijay opening in batting. I have no doubt we will win when we tour there next time.
Anyone that has seen India tour of Eng in 2018 would know that toss decided the fate of the match. India competed really well in almost every session but lots of factors due to which we couldnt win. Anyway, no excuses and we will see what happens this summer.
NZ is the only country where we lost comprehensively and I have no reason to accept that.

No, this team is not overrated. And they did well in these countries (except in NZ) when they played last time even after losing every single toss. The matches in Eng and SA were a lot closer than what the scorecard tells.

Indias wins in Australia are fantastic and should be applauded.
But as per usual the toss excuse or other comical excuses come out everytime india tour SA or eng.
Last SA series. India were in the game most of the tests up until half way thru tests and lost it from there.
4-0 and 3-1 last 2 tours to england but all because of the toss. India lost those games because just like in SA they played well for half a test anf then lost. They had chances to win those games and didnt take the chances.
India may got over that mental barrier of winning tests after a critical point half way through tests.
India now has pace bowlers to compete in UK. 2nd half of summer so weather should be decent so if this is a GOAT team they should win no excuses.
If a poor SL team can win in SA again the might GOAT indian team should have no issues. We shall see.
If india wins in all 3 places il happily give india plaudits it deserved.

We were 20 or so runs away from winning two tests on our last tour there and the final scoreline would have been 3-2.

This current england team is no better at playing spin then it was back in 2015 or 2012. You seem to be hyping this all up based on performances in SL who are a poor test side with poor quality spinners compared to pak, india and SL.
But still its oh wait till pakistan plays this england team like pakistan should be scared.

On the eng side, I think Ben Foakes is an awesome keeper and not a bad bat, Lawrence and Crawley are good, pope as well.. all in all these young Eng guys would have learnt so muc from this series....Crawley is somuch like a young Gower...and ollie Stone was also impressive...
The action shifts to the T20s now...although i wish we had one more test (to make it a 5 test series) and do away with 2 of those useless T20's which noone is going to remember after 2 hours of it finishing...

SL always do well against pakistan in pakistan and UAE. NZ have done well in UAE aswell.
Just because england are a stonger side means nothing.
By that logic india should win all its away test series as they won in Australia. So lesser teams like SA NZ and ENG should be easy.
Pakistan has played SL again since that UAE defeat. Last year in pakistan and won.
A poor SL team won in SA so why hasnt greatest team in history of all sports GOAT india team not won there.

Pak's bowling attack was a pretty inexperienced one last year.
I admit that I'm mainly going by the 2018 India series where all batsmen struggled badly except Kohli and Curran.

Aye, the sole win was built on Root’s double century. As were the wins on the Gower and Cook tours. Big runs up front.
I’m really disappointed in Crawley - for a player of that ability to repeatedly not pick up an offie’s arm ball means something is wrong. Too many players were bowled through the gate, which was unheard of a few decades back. T20 is to blame.
Looking forward to Hameed coming back, Crawley dropping back to #3 and Bairstow gone forever.

Pakistan usually do well against England in england too but this time they were flattened in the test matches and would have been 3-0 if not for weather intervening. People ae underestimating England simply because they have been beaten 3-1 here.
Agreed England will pose the toughest challenge to Pak in the next WTC cycle. Aus, NZL can be beaten but not sure about Eng tbh.

Series review.
Leach and Anderson were excellent and fly home with considerably enhanced reputations. Lawrence, in the end, did well. Stokes was full of heart as ever. Stone looks to be a find. Foakes was lightning quick with the gloves. Moeen and Buttler both showed promise in the conditions and they should have played more. Root overall did ok, as the team’s captain and with the bat.
Everyone else for England was pretty rubbish. Seeing Pope, apparently our new Shermanator, attempting to bat against the Indian spinners was painful and sad — it was, in fact, uncannily reminiscent of watching Ian Bell against Shane Warne.
Sibley and Crawley tried hard, but they both lost the plot in the end. Burns played some lazy shots. Bairstow, Broad and Archer were absolutely appalling — particularly in terms of their attitudes to the job in hand — the less said about these three the better, or I will just get cross.
Dom Bess meanwhile performed horrendously badly, but the context that sits behind his situation gives him a bit of a pass, in that he has genuinely suffered in the bubble and has had his mentality destroyed by the England management. I feel for the kid and I hope he can be supported to come back from this. Again I am having unwelcome flashbacks here — this time to Steven Finn and the way he was treated.
Huge congratulations truly do go to India for a very convincing series win. Kohli batted agriculturally but his captaincy was good. The spin bowlers were out of this world. Not sure what was going on with Pujara and Rahane. Pant, Sundar, Ashwin and of course the brilliant Rohit were extremely classy with the bat. Pant also kept the wickets with great energy, vigour, skill, humour and amicability — man of the series for me!

Leach and Anderson were excellent and fly home with considerably enhanced reputations. Lawrence, in the end, did well. Stokes was full of heart as ever. Stone looks to be a find. Foakes was lightning quick with the gloves. Moeen and Buttler both showed promise in the conditions and they should have played more. Root overall did ok, as the team’s captain and with the bat.
Everyone else for England was pretty rubbish. Seeing Pope, apparently our new Shermanator, attempting to bat against the Indian spinners was painful and sad — it was, in fact, uncannily reminiscent of watching Ian Bell against Shane Warne.
Sibley and Crawley tried hard, but they both lost the plot in the end. Burns played some lazy shots. Bairstow, Broad and Archer were absolutely appalling — particularly in terms of their attitudes to the job in hand — the less said about these three the better, or I will just get cross.
Dom Bess meanwhile performed horrendously badly, but the context that sits behind his situation gives him a bit of a pass, in that he has genuinely suffered in the bubble and has had his mentality destroyed by the England management. I feel for the kid and I hope he can be supported to come back from this. Again I am having unwelcome flashbacks here — this time to Steven Finn and the way he was treated.
Huge congratulations truly do go to India for a very convincing series win. Kohli batted agriculturally but his captaincy was good. The spin bowlers were out of this world. Not sure what was going on with Pujara and Rahane. Pant, Sundar, Ashwin and of course the brilliant Rohit were extremely classy with the bat. Pant also kept the wickets with great energy, vigour, skill, humour and amicability — man of the series for me!
India are a top team.

Broad? , still a class act in my opinion and has at least a year or 2 left, stone is a must in my opnion over archer who has a poor attitude; as for the batting we need to be consistent and can't rely on root always.

Eh? I rate loads of modern players who score runs or take wickets consistently home and away. That Saffer side had an ATG opener in Smith, Kallis the second-best AR after Sobers, ABDV, Amla in peak form, Steyn who was arguably the best ever Saffer quick in a very strong field, Philander who was excellent and Morkel who was a force too.

I think you are right about Archer. You get eight quick overs out of him then 80 mph for the rest of the match. He’s a ODI bowler. Wood, Stone, Broad/Anderson and Stokes is the side for Australia. I think Stone can bowl long accurate spells at pace. They must start giving Woody the new ball though. They waste all that firepower otherwise.

Archer is not a test bowler. He was bowling like Vinay Kumar in the tests. Barely touching 135k avg.

Yes, the nucleus of the attack is very strong, Just hope olli stones stays fit, hes got tremendous skill set as well as pace and bounce, also Leach needs to cement his place and kick on to be a quality test match spinner. Dom Bess has got big potential, just needs a season or 2 of consistent playing time at county cricket to get the repetition in his action, otherwise he's got the character and determination to succeed at test cricket.
Regarding wood i agree, like Australia utilised Brett Lee's pace with the new ball , and woods with his skiddy trajectory is a nightmare and could be utilised against India this summer and Australia with the new ball.
