Well done Well done.I have high hopes on Kashmiri bowlers.I hope they will carry Indias bowling attack one day.

Congrats to J&K ! Umar looks a different bowler this season he is better playing away games.Next game is against my home team(TN) i suppose that might be tough being played in a local College ground unless Umar again manages to surprise.

All indian bowlers should be assumed to be trundlers unless proved otherwise. Even if they are phast they are phast they are brainless. I remember only srinath breaking that mould though only for a short time in his career.
He has odds stacked against him.

Batting legend Sachin Tendulkar met with the victorious Jammu and Kashmir cricketers at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai on Thursday morning.

The team from the Valley created history on Wednesday when they upset 40-time Ranji Trophy champions Mumbai by four wickets in their opening match of domestic cricket's premier tournament.

According to J&K team media manager Shahana Fatima, the batting legend spent over an hour with the players and asked them to meet him at the stadium later.

"He congratulated the team for the victory and told them not to get carried away and continue the good work," Shahana said.

On Thursday, Tendulkar spoke with the Mumbai Ranji players at the request of their coach, Pravin Amre, to boost team morale following the defeat, but did not meet the J&K players who were celebrating after the victory.

The J&K team later departed for Chennai to play their second Group A Ranji game against Tamil Nadu at a new venue, Dindigul, 65 kms from the temple town of Madurai.

Parvez also go BCCI contract this year.

I am very interested in Mehjoor Ali Sofi's development.

Whatsup with these green tracks being used in Ranji matches ??? I think some of these bowlers are looking better than they should due to these wickets....... Nevertheless good win by J&K

They are using green pitches during Ranji matches for last few seasons.

A disappointing ranji season ends for j&k
They won 1 match drew 4 and lost 3 games

so here we are, the 2016 ranjhi season , After drawing first match with Kerala , J&k scored 227 with help of parvez rasools 82 and id singhs 67. In reply Goa are at 75/9 umar nazir and ram dayal have bowled exceptionally well with both guys scalping 3 wickets each and good help from the rest of the bowlers.
Stay tuned for more action :wahab

So goa all out on 77 ram dayal takes 4/15, umar nazir takes 3/10 while parvez takes 2 and samiuallah 1

Feel sad for Parvez Rasool. He deserves more opportunties. Always does well in whatever opportunities he gets. Still remember that 7/45 he took against the touring Australian team in 2013

Was he part of the previous Ind A tour to Australia this summer? I hope he was. He deserves to be.

J&k defeats goa by 116 runs
Parvez takes a 5fer and scores 82 while id singh scored 2 fifties

a good match going on between services and jk
batting 1st services scored 477 with parvez again taking a 5fer and in reply jk are 460/8 at lunch with 100s from id singh and shubham khajuria and a 70 from parry

Ranjhi 2018-2019 season
J&k loses its first game against Rajasthan by 75 runs.
star performers from J&k Parvez Rasool who scored 47 n 110* and mudasir who took a 5wkt haul including 4 wkts in 4 deliveries.
now the problem is that irfan pathan is not upto mark. He should start performing asap otherwise knives will be out against him!!

Lost to the brilliant of Nathu Singh, who if he can remain fit, will be a like to like replacement for Shami very soon. Bowled with a lot of pace and terrific reverse swing. Rahul Chahar, the young leg spinner had a great game taking 9 wickets

Was disappointed with Umar Nazir. Had heard so much about his pace, but he does not look like someone who can bowl more than 132-133 kmph. Has the height and the built but not a very smooth action and unfortunately no proper mentor to help him improve.

Irfan is there mainly for mentoring the kids. He is hardly a threat as a bowler in FC cricket anymore. Muhammad Shami could have been a good addition but obviously he wont play from J&K given he needs higher quality practice.

its simple they need the local players to fire
id singh has completely lost his form since last season otherwise he was the most consistent batsman from j&k

There are some good players in this team but right now there are more negatives than positives in the J&K team.We are missing Ram Dayal badly as his replacement (Rohit Sharma) is a mediocre bowler.Ian Dev Singh has been struggling since 2 years.I like that they are giving chances to new players like Fazil.Would have liked to see Qamran make it to the Ranji Team.Hopefully the selection committee will pick him up from the third game onwards.

exactly ram dayal is being missed and muddasir needs to be consistent
he looks very deadly when on song

Muddasir has been fantastic throughout this season. Surprisingly with both bat and ball. The problem nowadays is that we are effectively playing with 10 players.Irfan Pathan has done a reasonable job as a mentor but as a player he is well past his prime and currently is a burden on the team.Same was the case in last few years when we were having players like Punit Bisht,Mithun Manhas in the team.

so far in 3 games J&k has one loss one draw and one victory
irfan pathan seems to have find his form and parvez is also in good groove

Parvez Rasool 8/85 with bowl and unbeaten on 53 at stumps on Day 2 against Services, very unlikely though, that he will be able save his team from defeat.

Overwhelmed with the hospitality and love from people of Kashmir : Irfan Pathan

International Cricketer Irfan Pathan who is Jammu Kashmir Cricket Association Head Coach Friday was all praise for Kashmir hospitality. “I have visited across globe but, nowhere I felt people so lovable and hospitable as I found in Kashmir Valley,” Pathan said in an exclusive chat with news agency Kashmir News Trust.

“I get flooded with lunch and dinner invitations. People are so nice in Kashmir that I always feel at home.”

Pathan who has 301 international wickets in his name said that Kashmiri people are very talented and if talent is groomed effectively, Valley can produce talented cricketers.

“It has happened for the first time in the history of Jammu Kashmir Cricket Association that six to seven youth have been selected for National Cricket Academy and budding cricketers are playing Under 19. Rasikh Salam was unfortunate but he will surely bounce back after two years. Rasikh is a talented cricketer and I would love to see him in action again,” Pathan said.

He expressed satisfaction over his job and hailed the role of JKCA in promoting cricket in the State. “Ashik Bukhari and CK Prasad, the cricket administrators are very helpful and keen to develop infrastructure for the promotion of cricket in Jammu and Kashmir,” he said adding that there is a lot of room for improvement in cricket in Kashmir.

He said efforts are being made to develop turf wicket in districts of Kashmir. “Turf wickets have already been developed in some districts but still there is a long way to go.”

Pathan who was instrumental in India's One-day international and Test series wins in Pakistan in 2004 said that critics raised question over his commentary stunt during the recently concluded cricket world cup in England. “I want to tell them there is flexibility in my contract with Jammu Kashmir Cricket Association. I can do commentary at my will and it is in the contract. It’s unfortunate that without knowing the contents of my contract with JKCA, some people opposed this move of mine.”

Irfan Pathan who hails from Vadodara Gujrat termed the allegations baseless that he intervenes in selection process. “I attend Selection Committee meetings only after I receive formal invitation. I don’t poke my nose in everything but once invited, I attend the meetings and back the talented players,” he said.

When asked, who was the difficult player for him to bowl in international cricket arena, he named Adam Gilchrist and added that Pakistan’s Inzimamul Haq was also one of the finest players of the game. “I bowled out Shahid Afridi for the maximum 11 times while the memorable moment of my life was the victory in 2007 T20 World Cup under MS Dhoni,” Pathan told KNT.

Punjab wicketkeeper batsman Salil Arora has just smashed a 100 off just 39 balls in the Syed Mushtaq Ali game vs Jharkhand.

Can he get a big deal in IPL auction?

Ishan Kishan smashed a hundred in just 33 balls batting at No.6 in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He hammered 125 (39) with 7 fours AND 14 sixes vs Karnataka.

Sakibul Gani hit the fastest century in men's List A cricket by an Indian. Bihar skipper Sakibul Gani smashes a century against Arunachal Pradesh in just 32 balls in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy (Plate Group) game in Ranchi, breaking Punjab's Anmolpreet Singh's all-time record (35 balls) of the fastest ton by an Indian man in List cricket.

FASTEST HUNDRED BY INDIANS IN LIST A HISTORY

Sakibul Gani - 32 Balls (Today)

Ishan Kishan - 33 Balls (Today)

i think it’s the pitches. They need to make pitches that assist either spinners or fast bowlers for some time during the matches.

The art of playing spin has nearly vanished (and painfully so) from Indian cricket. It’s a complete shame we can’t survive noname spinners from historically fast bowling teams and make them household names. Where have we come from the times of Tendulkar, Dravid, Laxman, and Sehwag to this lot who can’t bat against spin to save their lives!

Ridiculous boundary sizes in a couple of the matches

Bengal's Abhimanyu Easwaran run out after leaving crease to get drinks

Bengal captain Abhimanyu Easwaran was dismissed in slightly bizarre and unfortunate circumstances on Thursday, being run out after he had stepped out of the crease to get some water, assuming the ball was dead.

The incident occurred during the sixth round of the Ranji Trophy, against Services. Easwaran, who was batting fluently on 81, looked set for a 28th first-class century, until a momentary loss in judgment. In the final ball of the 41st over, bowled by Aditya Kumar, Bengal's Sudip Chatterjee pushed a full-length delivery straight back at the bowler. Assuming the over was done and drinks was called, Easwaran stepped out of the crease and started walking forward towards the pavilion; he wasn't trying to steal a run or gain an advantage.

However, the ball brushed Aditya's fingers, and was deflected on to the stumps. By then, Easwaran was already stranded, and following an appeal from Services, the on-field umpires referred the decision to the third umpire, who eventually ruled the batter out.

After the day's play, Easwaran owned up to his mistake, and dismissed any notion that the opponents should've called him back.

"The innings was going very well, but the mistake I made surprised even me," he said. "Some might feel the opposition could've called me back in the spirit of the game, but there was no question of that. It was entirely my fault. I thought the bowler had collected the ball and instinctively moved forward."

Bengal's coach Laxmi Ratan Shukla echoed the same sentiment, when asked if the incident was similar to the infamous run-out involving India and Ian Bell in 2011. Bell had been run out assuming the ball was dead, just before the tea break in the Trent Bridge Test. However, following an intervention from England's captain Andrew Strauss, India withdrew their appeal, and Bell resumed his innings after the break.

"They may look similar, but you cannot compare the two directly," Shukla said. "That was a different era and different circumstances. This was simply a mistake on the batter's part. It doesn't mean he lacks awareness; he is a senior player, but cricket can be unpredictable. While the opposition could have considered calling him back, but there is nothing wrong in their decision not to. Everything happened within the laws of the game."

India have become #4 in Test and are also starting to show decline in ODI.

India may not remain a powerhouse for long. :inti

India have declined big time in tests. This also coincides with the BCCI moving away from playing more tests. They have quietly cut all bilateral to two test "series". Of course BGT and ATT excluded. Given this direction, not sure how long those two will last. India is well on its way to join the majority. The majority that does not play tests.

There is a decline in ODI's as well. But that is a dead format already. The only reason India play ODI's is because of Sharma and Kohli. That is only format the Indian fans can watch them. Trust BCCI to cash in on this to cater to their fans and make $$$$ at the same time.

They are front of the pack in T20's. The is the format that is relevant. The present and the future format.
