India has refused to collect the Asia Cup Trophy from Mohsin Naqvi

As per reports The Indian team has refused to accept the Asia Cup trophy from Pakistan minister & ACC head Mohsin Naqvi

Devajit Saikia ,BCCI Secretary:

"We have decided not to take the #AsiaCup2025 trophy from the ACC chairman, who happens to be one of the main leaders of Pakistan. So we decided not to take it from him. But that does not mean that the gentleman will take away the trophy with him, along with the medals. So it is very unfortunate and we hope that the trophy and the medals will be returned to India as soon as possible...There is an ICC conference in November in Dubai. In the next conference, we are going to launch a very serious and very strong protest against the act of the ACC chairperson"

So, the match ceremony got delayed.

What happened was Indian team didnt want to accept the trophy and medals from the ACC chairman and the ACC chairman decided if they dont want the awards from him, so he wont allow anyone to give it to them and denied India the opportunity to celebrate and have photo clicks.

Anyways, no handshakes, Naqvi stood on the sides, did not even present cheques or medals to the Pakistani team. The fireworks were also done when Pakistani captain left the podium aswell.

And at the end, Simon Doull announced that the ACC has decided not to hand over the medals after Indian team decided to recieve their medals..

More reports are coming that Indian team was infact not even coming out for the ceremony, and everyone was standing their and waiting for them. more to come on this
 
It is a farcical ending, and although our resident Indian cheerleaders will find ways to justify it, it makes no sense. I hope some of the sensible ones will explain.

If SKY could shake hands with a smile with Naqvi at the start of the tournament, why not at the end, when he and his men had done all the hard work?

I mean, even if you want to think politically, surely accepting a winning trophy from a Pakistani minister after defeating their team is better than refusing?
 
Down the line this will look very stupid on Suriya. What a fool.

His team missed out on that moment. Atleast let your team mates enjoy this moment. Pathetic.

One has to question why India agreed to even play in this tournament when they object to any interaction whatsoever with a Pakistani.

Should have been ok had Naqvi not indulged in all the ridiculousness himself (check his childish X posts). The tournament has been excessively politicized from BOTH sides. Ultimately India won and that’s all that matters.

The issue with Naqvi started way before these posts and you know it.
 
I wonder what the match referee will report back now. This was a serious offence by the Indian team and even the Match Referee left due to this.

In any other sport, teams would had been suspended, i think more will come on this in the next 7 days.

Thank God the match referee was Richi Richardson this time.

Rubbed it in the face of Naqvi and Pakistani establishment on live TV beamed across the world, even ISPR won't be able to put a spin on this...

In sports broadcasting, this tv windows are sold for thousands of dollars. Sponsors invest alot of money in these moments and they expect to cash it in during the ceremonies.

If the ceremonies are cut short like this, companies than try to refrain from paying premium price for sponsorship.

The closing ceremony is where alot of branding and marketing teams look to make their full return. @mominsaigol can also add to this aswell.

Sponsorship isnt just free money, their is a return.

This tamasha by the Indian team will create more problems in these broadcasting rights in future

sponsorships are not controlled by a nationality. Public limited companies dont act on nationalism.

So let me get this straight... Mohsin Naqvi shows up with the trophy, India refuses to take it from him (because, you know) and man gets so salty he storms off with it like a kid whose birthday got ignored?

Imagine losing every match, then catching feelings because the winning team won’t let you play hero for the cameras. That’s a proper tantrum. :)))

This isn’t new for this guy :ROFLMAO: , remember his bravado during the Champions Trophy. He was shouting that he wouldn’t allow it on a neutral venue and even threatened a boycott if India didn’t visit. And then what happened? Finally Bent down and still played the CT final outside Pakistan, only for his team to get eliminated in 4 days, as quick as their army’s Operation Buniyan Banana… lol :ROFLMAO:

Both times he’s handed the tournament to India, something he’ll remember for life:salute
 
All this drama is being guided by the political powers in the background. Players are just acting the part they were given. Disgraceful ending to a good tournament.

India is class obove and is the firm favorite to win the world cup. BD's youngsters have fire and if Hridoy clicked, would have been in the final. Hes got a big future. SL was decent but lost the crucial moments. Pakistan played as expected. Excellent bowling performance overall in the last three games with a brittle batting lineup. Afghans seem to have regressed a bit. These conditions should have suited them but they were under par.

Ideally, Mohsin Naqvi should have recused himself, then standing there at the podium. Especially knowing the fact that India doesn’t want him and will not take Trophy from his hand just like champion trophy 2025 .

I have no sympathy for Mohsin Naqvi because I detest him as an individual. In what country is the interior minister also the PCB Chairman? As they say, it takes two to tango. When BCCI did what they did by politicizing the game, there was no need to to stoop to their level and behave in the manner in which the PCB behaved. For me PCB's actions throughout this whole tournament painted them as complete bumbling fools who also decided to behave just as childishly and immaturely as their Indian counterparts.

Once you behave like that you lose sympathy among normal, rational adults.

At the end of the day, all anyone cares about in this sport is winning or losing. So play the game with respect and keep your childish gestures and petty, point-scoring statements to yourself. Because when you can't get the job done, those same actions and statements come back to bite you in the behind. Learn the important lesson and try to behave more maturely and responsibly in the future.

This was the worst and most garbage asia cup all due to these two toxic teams. Both needs to be punished by ICC. And going forward, should be barred from joining any asia cup or any ICC events for a bit. For once ICC, have some balls and punish India (yes it's my team but jesus christ this was an embarassing tournament with all these political drama). And Pakistan should also be punished for pulling that nonsense against UAE match. Both deserves zero sympathy from World Cricket.

Tilak Varma, Arshdeep posted tik toks mocking Pakistan. Rinku Singh in an interview commented "The whole world has seen what has happened live on the field therefore they cannot lie anymore".

Indian ex and current players are openly declaring war on Pakistan. If only Pakistani players in comparison were not midgets and desperate for handshakes or in awe of this Indian side. Haris Rauf should just keep his mouth shut but he cannot cash what comes out of his mouth.
 
They have taken all the attention away from this remarkable win with these antics. This should be about Tilak and Kuldeep, instead we've got Naqvi.

I've summed it up well. My real trophies are my 14 teammates and the support staff in the dressing room. Those are the lovely memories I'll take back.
