You can say that before misbah was made captain in 2010 and before Rizwan emerged on the scene the writing was on the wall and despite all the best efforts of modernising Pak cricket it remains in the doldrums. Infact despite few wins here and there it’s been on a downward trajectory for the last 15 years.

Primarily just having the same 12 players playing every format is just folly. The PSL may have brought in cash but it hasn’t allowed 12 t20 specialists to become established and those that are good take early retirement and just play international leagues. This has nothing to do with misbah or Rizwan. The whole system is crooked and it will get the results it deserves.

We are still playing cricket as if it’s the 1990’s. Just look how good South Africa and New Zealand have become. They too have very weak domestic structures and like us play very little cricket but right now look completely formidable.

I think ODI team needs a complete revamp. Some senior players may have to be dropped and get a fresh start with new players.

They did well against a full string Aus and SA just few months ago and the winning combo was shaken by bringing in some old faces through political influences, friendship, regional quota and parchis (Faheem Ashraf , HappyHeart, Saud Shakeel ) and they dropped Abdullah Shafique and made Babar to open the inns... So what is the guarantee your fancy names will last in an ICC tournament if they first have not been tested in bilateral series?
