In relation to the posts in the Justin Justin Trudeau thread and reading posts from Indians over the years, it seems Indians actually believe their nation is some sort of superpower.
India is a big country with a very large population of over 1.3 billion and is on course to over take China very soon as the most populated country on the planet.
India's national wealth is only due to it's large population.
India has not seat on the UNSC and never will.
1/3 of the worlds poor reside in India.
India claims Pakistan (much smaller nation) causes trouble for them but has no means of stopping Pakistan. Having much bigger armed forces hasn't helped them much esp since Pakistan became a nuclear power.

My request to Indian friends is, please get with reality so we can have a sensible discussion. There is no shame is accepting the truth your nation is one of many third world nations who has a very long way to go before you become a developed superpower. Thanks

India will not become a superpower, says Ramachandra Guha, renowned historian and author of India after Gandhi: The History of the World's Largest Democracy.
Taking the lead in a special report by the London School of Economics, Mr Guha outlines seven reasons to support his thesis.
The challenges which will hold India back, he writes, are the Maoist insurgency, the "insidious presence" of the Hindu right wing, degradation of the "once liberal and upright" centre, the increasing gap between the rich and the poor, trivialisation of media, the sustainability of "present patterns of resource consumption" and the instability and policy incoherence caused by multi-party governments.
