All due respect to bhaijaan’s loved ones from England, but tough calls have to be made by tough men and it is time for Virat Kohli’s Team India to cease this perfect revenge opportunity.

It is England who punctured our wheels when we were still not over with our World Cup triumph and world #1 test rank back in 2011. Our world was perfect. Our team seemed set to embark on a great journey of domination. We were on top of the world and we wished for many more years on the top and then England whitewashed us. Their media ridiculed us. Pakistanis troller us over here to no end.

The low self esteem we carried from that torturous England tour made us screw our chances everywhere we went. We were smashed mercilessly everywhere we went. England even came to India and smashed us to rub salt on our wounds.

It is time now to take revenge and it scores must be settled from where it all began. We must end the curse in England this year and start our dominant era which we should have started in 2011 itself.

If a team like Pakistan can beat England in England then India can and should do even better. England is vulnerable and Is carrying old and worn out players while India is oozing with young raw talent and most other players in their peak age.

India just go for it hard.

We must aim for 4 test wins on this tour. England should get none they deserve none.

England please buckle up because a storm is coming.

I predict a 3-1 victory for England.

3-2 victory for England.

India can win 3-2 if they play Kuldeep in place of Ashwin and KL Rahul somehow has to find a place in the Playing XI.

They are nowhere near th caliber to achieve 3 test wins against THIS Indian team. If India gets screwed like in Aus 2007-08 then they will probably win 1 test at max and draw another.

India is comfortably winning 2 tests and if they remain motivated for revenge they might convert another two possible draws into wins as well.

Anderson and Broad aren’t getting more than 20 wickets during the 5 tests this time. They still have it in them to outfox lesser teams like Pakistan, WI but they can’t do that damage to this Indian batting line up.

By the time India is done with England, they would have retired or dropped half their squad mark my words.

We did that with a much inferior bowling attack a few years ago. Our pace bowling is much better now ith BK/Bumrah/Shami who can swing seam at good pace.
 
I want Karthik to keep wickets in place of Saha whose batting is absolute trash.

And an unsettled batting line up and against a much healthier and confident looking England side.

Tables have turned and there is no arrogance in calling it as it is. Based on form and momentum India should streamroll this England team 9/10 times anywhere they play.

It would be a shame if they can’t get the job done this around. There will never be a better opportunity.
 
It's likely to be 2-1 win for Eng.
 
India should aim to just win the series. Even though England are strong at home they overall aren't a strong test team atm. India have a majority of their team in their peak years and also have a decent bowling attack.

Should be a good series.
 
If India win the Indian fans here can rub it in the face of the Pakistani fans

Keeping in Engalnd is a very tough job and you need a good keeper to do that.Dhoni had struggled last time and we lost lot of opportunities due to that. How good is Kartik's keeping in the longer format?

The ones who come to the US can play for our team, we'll be WC qualifiers by 2023. No one in the affiliates will be able to stand up to us and most of the Associates will struggle too.

We have plenty in Bhuvi,Bumrah and Shami who has demonstrated that in SA against much better batsmen. Responsibility lies with our batsmen to handle English bowlers.
 
I hate for this to happening to FC bhaijan but expecting India to get smashed as always by the pommies. British raj too hot for ya.
 
Even though im a Pak fan, but I think India will humiliate England.

50 50 series this.
England not up to too much and the wickets will be fairly flat and it will be late summer so wickets will spin which nullifies the home advantage and brings India into it

This and I hope they select Kuldeep or some wrist spinner who can spin the ball than Ashwin.
 
The second test match between pak and england was a sign of thngs to come. England are pushovers. Theyh are playing to win and India should be worried about the likes of Jimmy and Broad being back in form. Here's hoping for a competitive series but I do believe it's going to be largely one-sided towards England.
 
3-1 to England is the most likely result. I hope our batsmen put up credible perfornances so that we can give a close fight. Will be good to score 300+ consistently and not get rolled out in two sessions like we did after Lord's last time.

I don't think it will happen. The series will be closely contested as both teams are flawed but the final scoreline will be closer that the last two series in England.
 
India's best chance to humiliate England and frankly this is India's series to lose. Plenty of factors going there way, some mentioned below:

1. Late summer series: Hot weather of July/August will yield dry wickets which should suit Indian batsmen. I don't expect any green tops with cold overcast conditions.

2. Bowlers past their prime: Anderson and Broad are English test cricket legends and have done great for their country but one have to admit that they are past their prime now. Anderson has lost a yard of pace and not that effective anymore while Broad will show up in 2 innings while going missing in remaining 6. Safe to say with them being attack bowlers and backup bowlers include Bess they would struggle to get 20 Indian wickets.

3. India's pace battery: One has to admit that India's pacers matched South Africa's pacers in the recent series. India lost the series due to their batsmen while their bowlers compete remarkably to arguably great pace attack comprising of Steyn, Rabada, Philander and Morkel that too in their backyard. I believe this Indian team can get 20 wickets and this will be the decisive factor in the series.

Overall, the decisive factor of the series will be India's bowlers against English batsmen.
 
I agree with the OP indianshoukd absolutely humiliate England.. We have a settled side who are at their prime while England has an unsettled side with over the hill bowlers..

If we can’t win this series by 3 tests or more then it will be an embarrassment for us..
We give excuses we lost to England at home or to Pakistan in ODI series at home because we were in transition phase or had over the hill players now we are at the other end if we can’t win the series in England with this team then it will be a huge embarrassment..

Ofcourse eventually it will all be forgotten if we lose 5-0 also and we will continue to remain mediocre like in every other aspect.. But with kohli, Pujara, vijay, rahane, bhuvi, Bumrah, shami all in their prime years if we can’t win this series then we deserve all the humiliation we can get from media and Ofcourse our beloved pdosis on PP.

When can fans expect series wins in the only sport played seriously in a nation of 1.3bill with the most money in the world.. That too the sport played by very few countries and the countries which play it, it’s not the most popular sport by any stretch of imagination?

This post summarizes my feeling.

Its a sbame many mediocre and low self esteem Indians still dont have the guts to expect a series win. If not now then when do we ever win really?

There will be no excuse this time.

India must rither humiliate England or be prepared to be humiliated.
 
India should easily beat this English as they literally have 2 players who can bat and 2 who can bowl a bit. The rest are just there to make the numbers.

I would be surprised with any result other than 4-0 or 5-0 in favor of India

Edgbaston is a big ground for England and their favourite ground. Whoever wins the first test is likely to get on a roll.

Teams aren’t really that resilient these days, so whoever starts the games on top will likely win the game.

India’s pace bowling is unproven during long series too.

Tendulkar will also come out of retirement and hit the winning runs for India in the 5th and final test match.

Start us very important indeed. If India sniff blood in first test they wikk do to England what they did to Southern Afrikaans in ODI series few months ago.
 
A lot depends on the openers. You give early breakthrough to the swing duo and they will wreck havoc. Need Murali Vijay and Shikhar Dhawan/KL Rahul/any one else to bring their A game.

It would be really humiliating if we lose the series, considering Pakistan recently managed to draw their series against the same opponent on the same country.
 
I see optimism and (if I may) a bit of over confidence as well. The fact of the matter whenever we faced a "golden chance" abroad (2011 England or Australia or the 2014 NZ tour of the last SA tour) we have had heart breaks . The third instance I mention is when we didn't completely lose face and had a few positives.

My feeling about the whole thing is mixed. And the last time we visited we had SL visiting before us and pull of a narrow victory as well leading to Indian fans expecting the same only for us to be thumped 3-1. You all can be optimistic. I will be realistic and just hope for a good performance. Needles to say I would be delighted to win a series..
 
Watching the Pakistan matches, I felt England were overly relying on Broad/Anderson. After that no bowler really was really as threatening or skilful. Stokes came close but I feel he'll be easily countered by the Indian batsmen.

All in all I feel India might just be too strong for England this time around. I do hope England do a lot better than what they showed in this series though.

Either way I can't wait.
 
It will be a cracker. That's for certain.

For me, key is the 'Kohli vs Anderson/Broad' battle.

Ain't a hater, wish all the luck to Indians.

That said, Pak managed a win in May (BTW England just don't lose at home in May) because our bowlers were ruthless. But this time around, if English top order manages to take shine off new ball then English middle and lower order will set up a defendable total for their pacers.

And we all know how easily English bowlers can take 20 wickets at home.

Same pattern in all 5 games.

My prediction: 5-0 to England. Unless some bizarre injury or rain,,,

Second sentence, there is a difference between 2 tests and 5 tests series.
 
Won't be as much of a humiliation as our team got.

Though India in England should not be underestimated as their FM array usually proves effective, and the England batting is vulnerable.

The second match exposed what we're capable of. You should thank ECB for only giving us 2 matches; imagine if it was a full series with 4 or 5 matches.
 
I think if England prepare green tops then that brings Indian seamers into the game and gives them the best chance of taking 20 wickets. England's batting is fragile and as we saw at Lord's in 2014, such a strategy could backfire.

However if the pitches are flat, which I expect at Lord's, Rose Bowl and The Oval, then Indian bowlers have their work cut out to take 20 wickets. However that being said, its a better Indian attack than the one in 2014.
 
I will look forward to seeing the pace bowling talent on show for India after some disparaging remarks by Indian posters about the lack of pace in Pakistan's fast bowling dept.

India will do well to win more than 2 Tests. England are clear favorites.

Series will be close. The English batting is very vulnerable and they are now not going to play until August. Who will remain fit? who will lose form in county cricket? We have no clue. I just feel if India can get some early wickets, England could feel the pressure. They know India's batting is better and much better than ours. India have nothing to lose. They need to go out there , and bowl well. The Indian bowling will ultimately decide their teams fate. They may have a good first match but this is a long series and they are really going to feel the heat. Also dont be surprised to see some murky cloudy days..
 
Do not take England lightly. On their day, Broad and Anderson can become ATG bowlers.
 
No. I think we should let England go with some dignity. :ashwin On a serious note, our batting really needs to step up and score big hundreds. Can't fold cheaply like they did consistently in SA. I have more faith in the bowling to be honest. But then again in SA we ended up facing a Saffer attack of Steyn/Morne/Philander/rabada which put us on the backfoot. Might be easier facing English seamers if it's a hotter, drier summer.

Away series wins will happen only when we get two world class seamers who can average under 25 consistently and bowl match winning spells taking 5-fers and 10-fers. Our bowling talent has come up immensely and as a unit we have done decently but against strong batting opposition in their home conditions, we are still not yet there.
 
Yes,We should aim to humiliate England but then again we should've done that already in 2014 England Test series.Instead,whole Indian team was basically caught with pants down.
 
People think Eng is there to give matches in charity. Guys, Eng is there to compete and win, not to be humiliated by Ind or any other team.

I will be surprised if India wins the ODI series. England is packed with destructive batsmen in ODIs and Buttler just played IPL so obviously his game has improved to Viv's level.

India is favorite to win the test series but I don't really see them winning against the batting unit of Hales, Roy, Bairstow, Root, Buttler, Morgan, Stokes, Ali, and Woakes.

And all of them will be hapless against kuldeep and chahal.England is not known for its prowess against wrist spin anywhere.
 
on what basis ? Pakistan drew 2-2 last tour in a 4 match series where India lost 3-1 in 5 match series. Pakistan have played better cricket in England compared to India, i expect England winning easily 3-1 again.
 
Indians with many warm up games prior to the start of the test series must play well in warmer and drier summer as opposed to what Pakistanis had to endure. First inning will set the tone. Either batting first or second, if they trailed behind significantly, they will be busy trying to catch up for the rest of the series.

Eng has a very good record at home and the fantasy of blanking them out is a troll attempt. There bowling knows the length and line needed to win. If India even gets 2 victories in tests playing against aging Anderson and Broad assuming if they remain fit till the end of series, it will be a surprise. India can do it but very unlikely. 4-0 Eng.
