India should win all games.

But, I hope BD will win at least one of the ODIs (unlikely though).

Bangla are tigers in test matches in home pitches favouring spin.won't be a walk in the park

Hopefully KLR hits some hundred here as he is a 40 averaging test batsman.

35 is too low for a guy with match winning test hundreds as opener in England and South Africa.

Bangladesh should do okay at home. India will still win most matches particularly with Kohli. I thought India would send their B side.

Makes sense sending a full strength squad for ODIs, but India could have easily gotten away resting some of their players for the Test series

Bangladesh Move India ODI Match From Dhaka After Protest Threat
India arrive in Bangladesh next week for their first tour since 2015, beginning with a one-day international series starting December 4

Bangladesh's cricket board has moved a one-day international against India next month from Dhaka after the country's opposition announced plans for a protest that could paralyse the capital the same day. India arrive in Bangladesh next week for their first tour since 2015, beginning with a one-day international series beginning December 4, with all three matches originally scheduled to be played in Dhaka.

The third match of the series on December 10 has now been moved to the coastal city of Chittagong which means it will avoid a rally by the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) which is expected to bring hundreds of thousands on to the streets of Dhaka.

The BNP has staged several huge demonstrations around the country since last month in an effort to force the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's government.

"Chittagong was originally scheduled to host one Test. We felt there should be an ODI at the venue too," Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) operations chief Jalal Yunus told AFP on Wednesday.

Jalal declined to comment on whether the protest had caused the late venue change, but newspaper New Age said the board had taken the decision to avoid the rally, quoting an unnamed BCB official.

Bangla in home conditions, in front of their fanatical crowds are a very tough opponent. they have a good pace attack and spinners were always good. our guys will have to deal with this pressure.
and why no jazz boom, is he still injurd? why dont they pick umraan malik...when will they finally select him in tests?

So you want him to keep tormenting us? Why can't he be dropped forever from all formats? You won't find a bigger fraud than him in cricket.

Indian B teams are harder to beat for Bangladesh as they are more dominant against these type of attacks due to heavy domestic participation. Sarfraz, Patidar etc. They score big. Senior teams are weaker against spin compared to t hem.

Ravindra Jadeja Ruled Out Of Bangladesh ODIs, Replaced By Shahbaz Ahmed

Ravindra Jadeja Ruled Out Of Bangladesh ODIs, Replaced By Shahbaz Ahmed
Ravindra Jadeja has been ruled out of the Bangladesh ODI series, with Shahbaz Ahmed coming into the team as his replacement.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced multiple changes in the India squad for the upcoming tour of Bangladesh. Notably, Ravindra Jadeja has been ruled out of the ODI assignment, with Shahbaz Ahmed coming in as his replacement. Even Yash Dayal is out of the series, with Kuldeep Sen being picked up as his replacement. Dayal was suffering with a lower back issue and was hence ruled out of the series while Jadeja hasn't yet recovered from his knee injury and will continue to be under the supervision of the BCCI Medical team.

Kuldeep and Shahbaz, the two replacements, were initially named in the squad for the 3-match ODI series in New Zealand starting 25th November in Auckland. As they have now been picked for the Bangladesh tour, they were pulled out of the Kiwi assignment. The BCCI hasn't named any replacement for the duo in India's ODI squad which is currently in New Zealand.

Shakib Al Hasan Returns As Bangladesh Name Squad For India ODIs

Shakib Al Hasan will return to the one-day fold for Bangladesh in the 16-man squad announced Thursday for next month's visit by India. Shakib took a break from Bangladesh's last two ODI series against West Indies and Zimbabwe but led the national side for the Twenty20 World Cup in Australia. Batsmen Najmul Hossain and Yasir Ali also returned to the one-day side, while batsman Mosaddek Hossain, spinner Taijul Islam and paceman Shoriful Islam have been left out. India arrive in Bangladesh on December 1 for their first bilateral series there since 2015.

The first two ODIs will be held in Dhaka on December 4 and 7 while the third is at Chittagong on December 10, after which both sides will play two Tests.

Rain forced a draw in the only Test during India's last visit to Bangladesh, while the hosts won that year's ODI series 2-1.

Squad: Tamim Iqbal (Capt), Liton Das, Anamul Haque, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Afif Hossain, Yasir Ali, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, Hasan Mahmud, Ebadot Hossain, Nasum Ahmed, Mahmudullah Riyad, Najmul Hossain and Nurul Hasan.

Taskin Ahmed Ruled Out Of Opening ODI Against India: Report

Bangladesh pace spearhead Taskin Ahmed has been ruled out of the opening ODI against India in Mirpur on December 4 due to a recurring back pain, chairman of selectors Minhazul Abedin said. "Taskin is ruled out from the opening game of the ODIs as his back pain recurred," BCB chief selector Minhajul told Cricbuzz on Thursday. "We wil be seeing his progress before taking further decision regarding his participation," he added. Veteran opener Tamim Iqbal has sustained groin injury in the warm-up game at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadiuum in Mirpur on November 30.

"We are waiting for Tamim's scan report. He had a groin injury and physician asked him to have a scan to take a decision about his availability," said Minhajul.

Bangladesh's one-day international captain and opening batsman Tamim Iqbal has been ruled out of a three-match series against India beginning in Dhaka at the weekend, officials said Thursday. Bangladeshi chief selector Minhajul Abedin said Tamim suffered a groin injury during a training match on Wednesday and was unlikely to recover soon. "He is definitely ruled out of the ODI series and possibly the first Test against India," Minhajul told AFP. Minhajul said the captain for the series and a replacement for Tamim would be announced in due course.

The Bangladeshi chief selector said pace bowler Taskin Ahmed had also been ruled out of Sunday's first ODI due to injury.

"Taskin has been suffering from back pain. He will not play in the first ODI. We'll see his fitness before playing him in the remaining matches," he said.

Left-arm pacer Shoriful Islam has been added to the squad as a backup to Taskin, he said.

India arrived in Bangladesh on Thursday for their first tour there since 2015, which will include three ODIs and two Tests.

The first two ODIs will be held in Dhaka on December 4 and 7, while the third is at Chittagong on December 10, after which both sides will play two Tests.

Chittagong will host the first Test from December 14-18, while the second Test will be in Dhaka from December 22-26.

Rain forced a draw in the only Test during India's last visit to Bangladesh, while the hosts won that year's ODI series 2-1.

Bangladesh Name Liton Das Captain For ODIs Against India

Bangladesh on Friday named batsman Liton Das as captain for the one-day international series against India starting this weekend, replacing injured Tamim Iqbal. The three-match series begins in Dhaka on Sunday, with the tourists also playing two Tests during their month-long visit. Regular captain Tamim was ruled out of the ODI series after a groin injury during a practice match in the capital on Wednesday. He is also doubtful for the Test series, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) said in a statement.

Das, 28, has been a solid run-scorer since his 2015 debut but has never led Bangladesh in the 50-over format or Tests.

His sole experience as international captain came during a Twenty20 match against New Zealand last year.

"Liton is one of the more experienced players in the side and has demonstrated leadership qualities. He has a sharp cricketing mind and reads the game well," BCB cricket operations chief Jalal Yunus said in a statement.

But Yunus added the team would miss Tamim's leadership during the tour.

"Under his captaincy the team has played some outstanding cricket in the last couple of years and he has been our most prolific batsman in this format," he said.

"He will be missed but we also feel that Liton has the attributes to do a good job as captain."

India arrived in Bangladesh on Thursday for their first tour there since 2015.

The first two ODIs will be held in Dhaka on December 4 and 7, while the third is at Chittagong on December 10, after which both sides will play one Test in each city.

Rain forced a draw in the only Test during India's last visit to Bangladesh, while the hosts won that year's ODI series 2-1.

Three India players ruled out of final ODI against Bangladesh

Injuries continued to hamper India's tour of Bangladesh after three players were confirmed to miss the third and final ODI of the series.

Skipper Rohit Sharma was among the three players confirmed by head Rahul Dravid to miss the third ODI against Bangladesh.

Dravid stated that Rohit would miss the third ODI and head to Mumbai to consult an expert.

A call on his participation in the Test series would only be taken after that.

"Rohit will certainly miss the next game, fly back to Bombay, consult with an expert and see how it is and whether he can come back for the Test matches or not, I'm not sure. It's too soon to say that."

Deepak Chahar, who only bowled three overs in the second ODI in Dhaka, was also ruled out of the final ODI as was Kuldeep Sen, who missed the match on Wednesday.

"All three of them won't play the next game for sure," Dravid said after the game which India lost narrowly after Rohit's late heroics.

The skipper copped an injury to his finger in Bangladesh's batting innings while attempting a catch. The ball hit his thumb and he was seen bleeding as he walked off.

The BCCI later confirmed he had gone for scans after the BCCI medical team assessed him.

However, with India in dire straits in the run chase, Rohit walked out to bat at No.9, slamming an unbeaten 51 off just 28 balls to take India to the brink off a win.

He hit a six with 12 runs needed off two balls, but could only manage a single off the final ball as Bangladesh wrapped up a series victory with the five-run win.

"It was phenomenal," Dravid said of Rohit's knock.

"I think for him to show that level of courage. He had a serious dislocation, he had to go to the hospital to get that set right, stitches in his hand, a couple of injections to go out and bat.

"Credit to him, he was really determined to go out and have a go and take a chance and it's amazing how close he got us with that innings, it was an absolutely phenomenal innings by the skipper.

"Great courage to be able to go out there and give us a chance."

Jaydev Unadkat Replaces Injured Mohammed Shami For Bangladesh Tests: Report

Veteran left-arm pacer Jaydev Unadkat has received a call-up to the Indian Test squad for the upcoming series in Bangladesh as a replacement for the injured Mohammed Shami. Unadkat, who is coming off an impressive performance in his team Saurashtra's Vijay Hazare Trophy win recently, is currently in Rajkot and waiting to complete his visa formalities, after which he will join the Test squad in Chattogram.

A BCCI source confirmed the development to PTI.

Shami was ruled out of the series due to a hand injury.

India is set to play two Tests in Bangladesh.

The 31-year-old Unadkat played his lone Test in 2010, against South Africa in Centurion. Since then, he has played seven ODIs and 10 T20 Internationals.

The Saurashtra skipper was the highest wicket-taker in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, with 19 scalps in 10 games. In all, he has picked 353 wickets in 96 first-class matches.

Besides Shami, the touring Indian team had been struggling with injures to players such as skipper Rohit Sharma, youngsters Kuldeep Sen and Deepak Chahar who were earlier ruled out of the ODIs.

lol at Unadkat being picked. Seriously?

So, ODI series has been won 2-1.

Can they at least draw 1 Test? Batters need to apply themselves well.

So Rahul will lead us in first test.

Rohit is so injury prone of late. Isn't a good idea to make him our all format captain.

Rohit Sharma Out Of 1st Test vs Bangladesh, KL Rahul To Lead India In His Absence

India captain Rohit Sharma on Sunday was ruled out of the first Test against Bangladesh due to a thumb injury. The BCCI named Abhimanyu Easwaran as his replacement for the opening Test, which starts Wednesday, December 14. Rohit had taken a blow to his left thumb, while fielding during the second ODI against Bangladesh earlier this week in Mirpur, and was later taken for scans at a local hospital. BCCI also said that they will later take a call on Rohit's availability for the second and final Test. KL Rahul will lead the team in his absence.

"India captain Rohit Sharma met with a specialist in Mumbai for his left thumb injury, which he sustained during the 2nd ODI against Bangladesh. He has been advised appropriate management for this injury and will not be available for the first Test against Bangladesh. The BCCI Medical Team will take a call on his availability for the second and final Test at a later stage. The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named Abhimanyu Easwaran as his replacement for the first Test," the BCCI said in a statement.

Navdeep Saini and Saurabh Kumar were also added to India's squad, with pacer Mohammed Shami and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja yet to recover from their respective injuries.

Veteran pacer Jaydev Unadkat was also recalled to the side after his performances in the domestic circuit with Saurashtra.

"Fast bowler Mohd. Shami and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja are yet to fully recover from their respective shoulder and knee injuries and are ruled out of the Test series. The selectors have named Navdeep Saini and Saurabh Kumar as replacements for Shami and Jadeja respectively. The selection committee has also added fast bowler Jaydev Unadkat to India's squad for the Test series," the statement added.

India's updated squad for Bangladesh Tests: KL Rahul (C), Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara (VC), Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant (WK), KS Bharat (WK), Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Shardul Thakur, Mohd. Siraj, Umesh Yadav, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Navdeep Saini, Saurabh Kumar, Jaydev Unadkat

Rahul was not in the test team before England series and now he is the captain in Tests after just two series?

Only Indian team management can make a mental midget who has been playing like a tailender as the captain of a national test team!
Captained 5 ODIs this year and lost all of them!

I guess this will be our XI for the first test,

KL Rahul (C), As much I hate to see him there
Shubman Gill,

Virat Kohli,
Shreyas Iyer,
Rishabh Pant (WK),
Ravichandran Ashwin,

Lol why are you two acting so surprised? Some players are getting bigger than the Indian team these days and you can thank IPL for that. KL, Pant, Pandya, Dhawan, Kohli, Rohit, Bumrah all of them are 'laadle' and 'raj dulaare' of BCCI. They can pick and choose which series to play, where to play, where to captain. Just find an answer how did they get so big and reply me back. :inti

KL, Dhawan, Rohit should be nowhere near the team. Pant is out of form in limited overs so he's rightfully dropped in that format. Pandya is in good touch and should play all three formats. Bumrah is often injured he should either retire from international cricket or stop playing IPL completely. Kohli stil has a couple years left in him. Should never let any players pick and choose series/formats on their whims.

Kohli is also dragging his career with some soft knocks here and there. He is going to become next Dhawan pretty soon. He will play till 37. He should retire from T20s. Surya is the USP of T20 team and it should be built around him not Kohli. :inti

Yeah, whenever (except for that Pakistan game in T20 WC) the pressure is on, Kohli fizzles out.

Bangladesh vs India 1st Test: With Eye On WTC, Stand-In Skipper KL Rahul Says India Need To Be Aggressive

A spot in the World Test Championship final at stake, a depleted Indian team has no option but to play an aggressive brand of cricket against Bangladesh in the two-match series starting Wednesday, stand-in skipper KL Rahul said on Monday. The Indian team will be without three key players -- Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja and regular skipper Rohit Sharma -- due to injuries. Having already lost the ODI series, the Indian team will need to win its next six Test matches (two in Bangladesh and four vs Australia at home) to remain in contention for a top-two spot in the World Test Championship points table.

As of now, Indian team is placed fourth in the table with 52.08 percentage points while Australia (75 percentage points) and South Africa (60 percentage points) are placed first and second. Sri Lanka, with 64 percentage points, is third in the list.

"There is a Test championship (final) qualification so we will also have to be aggressive. We know where we stand and what we need to do to qualify for the final," said Rahul during a media conference after the unveiling of the trophy.

"Each day, each session we will assess what is required for the team in that particular moment and give our best." The season-ending World Test Championship will be held in June, 2023 at the Oval in London.

Flexibility in mindset is the order of the hour and a key recipe for success.

"We won't go in with any set mindset. Yes, there is a certain history of a venue, you look at the numbers and take some pointers from that. At least for us we will go there and try to be aggressive and brave, try and get a result.

"The game is played over five days so it is important to break it down to smaller targets. In every session, the demands would be different but one thing is sure that you are going to see a lot of aggressive cricket from our side," the skipper assured.

A lot of this talk of aggressive intent has come watching England team's radically different ultra-aggressive approach, which has caught the imagination of cricket fans.

And skipper Rahul doesn't think English style of batsmanship characterises "recklessness".

"As cricketers, I don't think it is reckless cricket. They have certain mindset, they thought about it, they back their players and the players are doing the job for the team, so it doesn't matter how you have done it. Cricket is changing, there is no set way of how this game needs to be played," the stylish opener said.

Rahul in fact immensely enjoyed England's 2-0 series win in Pakistan with a Test match still to go.

"To watch these two matches between England and Pakistan has really been interesting. I am really enjoying watching Test cricket being played like that, a very fearless, taking the game on.

"But each team has its own way. All teams can learn a thing or two from the teams that are doing well. You can't always have the same approach. You turn up according to the conditions," he said, providing his take on English approach.

"Hope Rohit can recover and play 2nd Test"

Skipper Rohit Sharma has now missed back-to-back Test matches --- one vs England in July due to COVID-19 and now against Bangladesh due to left thumb dislocation and split webbing.

"Rohit is an important player for us. He is an experienced player and captain of our team. He is someone that the team will really miss but we hope he can recover quickly and comeback for the second Test," Rahul said.

KL Rahul breaks silence on Pujara's appointment as India vice-captain ahead of Rishabh Pant for Bangladesh Tests

India captain KL Rahul broke his silence on the “criteria” for picking vice-captain, hence explaining Pujara's selection ahead of Pant.

The selection committee of the BCCI has been blasted for the picking Cheteshwar Pujara as the vice-captain for the impending two-match Test series against Bangladesh, ahead of Rishabh Pant after KL Rahul was made the skipper in place of injured Rohit Sharma, who has been ruled out of the opening match in Chattogram. However, Rahul broke his silence on the “criteria” for picking vice-captain, hence explaining Pujara's selection ahead of Pant.

Pant was among the list of players along with Jasprit Bumrah and Rahul who were to be groomed as future India leaders under Rohit's captaincy. Pujara was not even in the radar, and had in fact been dropped for the home series against Sri Lanka in March before making a comeback to the India XI for the one-off game in England where Pant was the deputy to Bumrah.

The decision made by BCCI on Sunday was slammed and called “ridiculous” by fans on Twitter who felt Pant was ahead in the order. However, Rahul clarified that such decisions does not change the responsibility a player has in the team, before admitting that he as well is not aware of the criteria for picking the vice-captain.

“I at least don't know what the criteria is, whoever is picked you give yourself a pat on your back. Even for me, when I was named the vice captain, you get happy, you have the responsibility of the team. It really doesn't change much, everybody knows their role and responsibility and how much the team appreciates their contribution. Rishabh and Puji both have been brilliant for us, and have done the job so many times. Itna jada sochte nahin hai jo hai (We don't really think that much), he tries to take the responsibility. We carry on as a team,” he said in the pre-match press conference on Monday in Chattogram.

The Test series will begin from December 14 onwards while the second Test will be played on December 22 in Mirpur.

Meanwhile, Rohit was replaced by Abhimanyu Easwaran. And, Mohammed Shami and Ravindra Jadeja, who are still recovering from their injuries, have been replaced by Saurabh Kumar and Navdeep Saini, Jaydev Unadkat has also been added to the squad.

Bangladesh on Sunday called up uncapped left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed and left out injured pace bowler Ebadot Hossain for the second Test against India starting in Dhaka on December 22. "Ebadot received an injury on his back in the first Test. He will not be fit for the second Test. That's why we took Nasum in his place though we have yet to decide whether we would play an extra spinner in Dhaka," said selector Habibul Bashar. India defeated Bangladesh by 188 runs in the first Test to take a 1-0 lead in the two-match series.

India scored 404 runs and declared their second innings at 258-2 after bowling out Bangladesh for a paltry 150 runs in the first innings.

Set a monumental target of 513 runs, Bangladesh were all out for 324 runs after debutant Zakir Hasan made 100 and skipper Shakib Al Hasan added 84.

The hosts looked short on options during India's second innings, as Ebadot and Shakib did not bowl due to injury concerns.

Nasum has played four one-day internationals and 28 Twenty20 internationals but is yet to play a Test.

India skipper Rohit Sharma has reportedly been ruled out of the second and final Test match of the two-game series against Bangladesh to be played in Dhaka starting from December 22. As per sources, Rohit, who missed the first Test after sustaining a thumb injury during the second ODI against Bangladesh, will no longer be travelling to Dhaka. India skipper Rohit Sharma missed the third and final ODI against Bangladesh with a finger injury sustained in the second match and could not make it to the first Test match in Chattogram.

After a special consultation in Mumbai, it was found out by the medical team that this persistent injury was keeping him out of action, and even forced him out of the first Test against Bangladesh. With Rohit not travelling to Dhaka, vice-captain KL Rahul will continue to lead the team in his absence in the second and final Test of the series which India lead 1-0.

Not only Rohit Sharma but there were many other cricketers who failed to make it to the Indian squad like Jasprit Bumrah (back), Mohammad Shami (shoulder) and Ravindra Jadeja (knee). These star players have failed to recover in time and have been ruled out of both Tests.

In the first Test against hosts, India boosted their chances of appearing at next year's ICC World Test Championship final with a comprehensive 188-run victory over a gritty Bangladesh in Chattogram on Sunday.

Spinners Axar Patel (4/77) and Kuldeep Yadav (3/73) did the majority of the damage as they shared seven Bangladesh wickets in the second innings between them and India climbed to the second spot on the World Test Championship standings as a result.

India's indifferent test performance started appearing as soon as Rohit took over. He was supposed to be the most inform batsman with declining form of Pujara, Rahane Kohli. He missed almost all the overseas Tests

What's the point of Rohit? Half the time he is injured!

Won't it be a better idea to have a stable and fit captain leading us especially someone who doesn't pick and choose the games he is going to play for his country?

Rohit Sharma and Navdeep Saini ruled out of second Test

Rohit Sharma is under the care of the BCCI Medical Team following his left thumb injury, which he sustained during the 2nd ODI against Bangladesh in Dhaka.

The Medical Team is of the opinion that the injury needs some more time to heal completely before the Indian captain can bat and field with full intensity. He will continue his rehab and will not be available for the second and final Test against Bangladesh.

Navdeep Saini is also ruled out of the second Test owing to an abdominal muscle strain. The fast bowler will now report to the NCA for further management of his injury.

India's updated squad for 2nd Test against Bangladesh: KL Rahul (C), Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara (VC), Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant (WK), KS Bharat (WK), Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Shardul Thakur, Mohd. Siraj, Umesh Yadav, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Saurabh Kumar, Jaydev Unadkat

I didn’t think he would be a long term option to be honest. Isn’t he older than Kohli.

Who is Rohit’s successor likely to be?

Absolutely right. Since he was made captain he is hardly available to lead the side. He wasn't there for the 5th Test against England as well. Before becoming captain he missed the SA series as well. He hardly plays Tests anymore, no point in keeping him as captain. KL Rahul isn't the right choice as well as he should not be making India's best Test XI with his current form. Pant or Bumrah (When Fit) are the right captaincy choices.

Team management mostly persisting with KL Rahul but he hasn't shown any signs of great leadership. The other alternatives would be :-

Tests - Pant( because Bumrah's fitness is not a surety either)
T20Is - Pandya

ODIs is a tricky one but Rohit will stay as captain till 2023 ODI World Cup. Post that, it can be anyone because nobody really has a guaranteed spot in this format so it might go to KL Rahul due to being the senior-most.

Pandya is fine for T20s but Pant as a captain fot tests? :91:

Iyer should be groomed as a test captain. :inti

That's correct. He is older than Kohli but both are equally past it. Just that Kohli is less prone to being injured as compared to Rohit.

As for Rohit's successor, may be Iyer in the short term, however weak he is against short ball.

However, I feel Gill will be our long term captain.

Why not? It will be a real pleasure to watch the next Gilchrist taking the baton and leading the Indian team to record breaking wins in Test cricket just like Virat Kohli did. This might be humiliating for you to hear but I think you have now gotten used to of this.

Iyer's place overseas is not guaranteed yet. We saw him in England, his bat was getting rotated while playing the moving ball. Yes, just 1 test but does he have the right technique to survive the moving ball and play pace and bounce overseas? I don't think so. Pant, on other hand, has already served humble pies to his haters and they know it pretty well so he is the obvious contender. :inti
