Guess Rauf gets to umpire Indian games for a while longer then, Ganguly now this.
Pitching outside off does not preclude the lbw. It has to hit inside the line which it did.
You might be confusing it with the "pitching outside leg" rule in which case it is never out.

you really, really hate him, don't you? :P

Yes I do. Of all the batsmen we have in Australia we pick this useless mentally soft crab to open the innings.

Four innings, four starts, about 300 deliveries and no results to show for it.
Aside from arguably preventing us winning the last Test by making 34 off 140 balls when we needed quick runs.

I am not being serious

ozzies going down "swinging"

perhaps a more circumspect attitude was needed .

well isn't he the best you can have?
since langer is gone...
i have seen a few other ones opening, like luke ronchi etc, but katich is still the best out of them

Ah gotcha :D..

Chill though, 2 more tests still to go.

Am just complaining about the umpiring cos it is the thing to do when you are losing no?

We are losing, hence :6: umpires :D

Come on India lets wrap this up today so I can sleep properly tonight, my eyes are all messed up now. Friday and Saturday nights were the worst after clubbing in London and coming home at 4.00-4.30 only to start watching the match at 5.00.

How are your effigy burning plans progressing.

I do have to give credit to Aussies on one thing; fielding.. It is just insane the amount of runs they have saved atleast 70-80 just phenominal..

P.S. Another wicket to fall very soon :D...

:)) Not quite. You gotta stick it to "the man" (pick one umpire) irrespective of the match situation :D

Katich actually showed a lot of promise in his innigs by the way, this raw talent needs time to settle down so he can fit into Langer's spot for many decades to come. Talking about decades, how old is he?

I don't understand him. When he is in defensive mindset he just wastes a lot of time without doing anything good for the team. And when he goes aggressive like he did today, he would get a start and suddenly throw away his wicket. The guy does have some ability, it's just that he haven't been able to put it into application.

Which is exactly why he gets the hate. He is not mentally up to Test cricket, proved it and was correctly dropped. Should never have been recalled, he is 34 and we should be blooding younger batsmen.

Ponting needs to play the innings of his life if Australia are going to win this one

Random Aussie said:

34??? really?

haha oopsy.... he looks about 25, could have got away with being 21 in Pakistani team...

But yeah I guess he lacks test cricket ability, he's unstable in the mind.

Australia aren't going to win this, and Australia arent going to draw this. It's looking like a 250+ run defeat. But hopefully will we come out with the moral victory.

Ishant and Harbhajan bowling in tandem should take care of him quickly.

Moral victory for the bowlers or batsmen? :))) :)))

And there goes Hussey

Gee India must be glad they got those 464 runs ahead :))) Going to be real handy

i dont think so.... Ponting can deal with pressure and espically from ''not so good bowling attack'' :P

PONTING TO OWN

and there goes another one. harbhajan takes another, hussey lbw for 1.
aus 52/3
bhajji 1 wicket away from 300 test wickets

Hussey gone, Bhajji 1 wicket away now....

Mark Nicolas's loyality is fast shifting towards India, haha his reactions were priceless even before the umpire raised his finger...

btw what shot was that coming from a batsman ----

OMG THERE GOES ANOTHER!
ISHANT GETS PONTING BOWLED!
52/4!

anyways, how often do you see shane watson come in to bat in the 10th over? :)))

natalia said:
do you support your national team AT ALL? :P

Yes I do support them and support them proudly.

Nothing to be proud of in this game, can only laugh at how bad they are.

:))) :)))

4/53 and 450 runs behind

O god Punter also gone.... Mr.Bunny

Punter finding his form in India, proving the 1st innings of the series was just a minor abberation.

You know a game is going bad when you are looking up the highest defeats by runs on Cricinfo

:))) :)))

India's biggest win by runs is 280, that should get beaten this Test.

Our biggest loss by runs is thankfully 675 so that's safe.

Second biggest I think is 408 runs, which may not be safe :))

But this is potentially the third worst.

Hmm, and now they start playing cautiously.. This is how each of the batsman should've played

Milroastnescafe said:
Anyway, Watson is looking good for a double-ton though.

this does not seem to be working.
maybe you should try with the opposite.
With the Indian bowlers?

Man, I respect Punter, but that comment was hilarious :))) :))) :)))

the start was amazing though. for a second i thought aussies could actually chase it down with ease, but they brought bhajji in and everything went downhill from there.

Aussies did suffer a huge thrashing back in 1998 in 2nd test in India, by an innings I believe, so don't have to dig too far back to recall a similar result.

Mark Nicolas is a superb addition to the commentary team in this series, thank god that usual boring Arun Lal got the axe.

The stage is set for Pup. He have not been doing good lately. This is chance to show his true ability. Go for it Clarke.

I am just going on defeats by runs. Gets too hard when there are innings involved because they are a variable.

But that 1998 one was a massive belting, I actually remember watching it.
However it was tempered by one of our seamers being unable to bowl after 12 overs and Greg Blewett taking the new ball. We aint got any such excuses here.

If they keep Sharma on he'll do well. Ishant is all bones and Pup is sure to go after him like an animal possessed.

Can't think of a bigger belting that they've received than that, since they took the unofficial world champ title from the Windies.
