What's new

India v New Zealand | 1st Test | Kanpur | Sep 22-26, 2016 | Day 2

Given not out lol.. parosis can't catch a break

And Latham just like Misbah plays the same shot again hahah

Imagine a batsmen hitting the ball into the helmet of shortleg. Are you going to give him out? No.

Any contact with the grill should kill any chance of a catch.

Yes i would, be it an Indian bat or a Kiwi bat or the BATMAN

Do you give out when the ball hits off the arm guard of a batsman and is caught? yupp you do.- then why not off the protection gear of the fielder?

What? that was out? No wonder why fielders can't take a catch with their caps :afridi

ok now i get it :odoyo

lol a few Indians starting to worry now :))

Don't worry, you're still well ahead in the game. Bowling last is a huge advantage.

India appealing for everything... only a matter of time before they get a decision to go there way.

Hahah :))) cry brother cry but the fact is a fact and a rule is a rule!! :))

Ok maybe I've misunderstood you and you're referring to off the glove lbat and onto the arm guard/pads?

Yupp that is what i meant, from gloves, popping to arm guard and then catching, or from bat to shin guards of the the fielder and then caught.

India struggling against NZ, BCB XI(few fringe players) struggling against Afghanistan. Some day!

It's spinning 90 degrees and Kohli brings on a pacer. Wow

Was that out?

Sound came after the ball past the bat?

Hot spot would have been useful.

One more wicket and India will be into the tail :yk2 Come on Kiwi fruit! Please don't tap!

Latham is from the same school of batting as KW but less than half as talented. Good batsman though

Yadav was swinging the ball like Jimmy Anderson, pitch is spinning and swinging, Kiwis are flying :hadlee

Pace is useless without a brain. Yadav lacks not just that but his body language is poor for a fast bowler.

Anyway NZ doing well so far. Need to bat for another 2 sessions minimum though because they have to bat last.

gotta funny feeling in 3rd session, Kiwis will pile on the pain to India, consolidation done, now time to shift gears.

India are still favourites here

New Zealand would have to post 550 plus here, get that lead of 200 plus and then hope to bowl out India less than 400. That would give them about 200 to chase in the last innings which will be a tough ask but still doable. Ashwin will be a very tough customer in the last innings so it is crucial for NZ to get 500 plus here, and it will be tough to do so. They have done well so far but 500 is still a long way away

Kohli doesn't seem like a good captain tbh.

You can set attacking fields you like but that doesn't make you a good captain.

He doesn't know how to use his bowlers, he brought the spinners on quite quickly even when the pacers were going to be at their most effective with the new ball.

KW easily looks the better of the two when it comes to leading a side.

To add to that, he seems very impatient and gets flustered very quickly when things aren't going his way. Compare him to KW and McCullum who always try to remain positive so the others don't fall away too.

Patience is defn a problem with him hopefully he learns, after a terrible 2nd test in Windies he did well in the 3rd one.

I would have loved to see McCullum opening here....

I'd take him over Guptill in Tests any day.

NZ 152/1, is this correct? :O: The pitch seems to be doing all kinds of things (relying on this thread, have seen nothing of this Tests) so what is going on. I expected Jadeja to take at least 2 wickets. :13:

They thought NZ will crumble under pressure. This is not 1990. Most of these players know how to play on these pitches except our indian rockstars. Sandeep :inti

So lots of questions on Kohli's captaincy here..

The ball was spinning like a boomerang and Ash/Jadeja were beating the bat every second ball and Kohli took one of them off and put on Yadav lol #aggressive :))

India are still in it.

The pitch is doing so much and we have to bat last.

150/1 can very quickly become 160/4.

Nah, McCullum could have slaughtered India on this pitch.

A quickfire 100 or 200 while the pitch was very easy to bat on :))

or be out for 10 , 4,6 kaboom- could have should have would have, maybe, if why not

and I would rather have Martin Crowe than Big Mac here, if we are going into the fantasy land

I know but I am disappointed with our batting performance. We have lost that home advantage which we had in the previous decade. And we can play on our own pitches. Same happened during south africa's tour to india. I think england also have a good chance here.

The comment on McCullum made me look up his record, and found that of the 10 times he batted, only once did he pass 100 and that was the 225 in a drawn matches.

Therefore statiscally, if McCullum had scored heavy in India, it would have ended up in a draw and that would happen only once in 5 matches or once in 10 innings.

Else he would have played an Afridi eque innings, made a pretty 30 and got out- which kinda reminds me of a certain "tailunt" in India, Rohit Sharma :D

McCullum was a different player in the last few years of his career.

He would have enjoyed these conditions (no sideways movement or pace) and would have been given the license to go out and have fun.

Pitch started doing a lot in last 15-20 minutes (old ball) and there were tons of close calls.

KW was out but not given.

Before that they played very well.

Interesting time in test but dunno how rain will affect the dynamics.

That's a much better record than I would have guessed.

Forgot he scored a double in India back when he opened :))

Yawn..... :37:

Surprised by NZ's batting. I mean, KW is class but I was expecting others to crumble.

Game is in perfect balance right now. NZ need a huge lead if they want to win this one :kohli

PS: What a shambolic performance by Indian batsmen, 400+ was a must here. And kudos to NZ bowlers.

I always thought BCCI selected by merit but selecting Rohit Sharma was a PCB-esque move.

The rain dance has worked for my fellow Indians.

You can all come out back now. It will also give Kohli some time to think as well.

McCullum was a world class batsmen for about 2 of the last 3 years of his career. If he was able to score a big hundred in 2010, I'm sure he would have managed at least one big innings on this tour.

If he were batting India would be forced to field an entire new bowlig line up in the next test

In the ODIS and IPL tamasha heck yeah he was gun. Forgot even Bhaji the might bat scored a 100 odd in that match....
He was a world class Test batsmen.

Averaged high 50's, among the lead run scorers and had multiple big hundreds.

Even Kambli had a couple of good years, and his average to date is a 54.21- all those daddy hundreds yaada yadda.

Am sure if he had played even today he would scored a 250+

Caught some of the 2nd session. I thought Latham and KW batted beautifully. Ashwin and Jadeja bowled poor lines, Ashwin especially straying on the legstump too much. The pitch was docile initially but started to take turn 10 to 15 mins before the tea break.

Rahul once again falters in the fielding department. He needs to seriously improve his fielding.

This rain delay works out well for me, I won't need to keep switching between the Test and NRL Semis :D
