50 is enough to win.I think India should try to score 120 in the first session and declare. There is always the possibility of rain and we don't want this one to slip away like the others before.
Really when was the last time when one our guys tonned up in India apart from the Rahane twin tons??
Really when was the last time when one our guys tonned up in India apart from the Rahane twin tons??
That was the last time we played in India.
Lmao.
Underrated exchange![]()
On a serious note, what target do you guys think India is looking at?
Will Kohli bat for two sessions or declare before Tea?
Vijay is quite consistent but often makes these 60s and 70s and gets out. He needs to kick on to make big scores, that is what is separating him from the likes of Cook and Warner.
He's 32. Can he learn that now?![]()
Kohli looked like a nervous wreck out there.
He tried to play the attacking role so India could get some quick runs. India would need atleast 4 sessions, remember we have only 2 bowlers to do the damage. The kiwi bowlers have bowled well to curb the run rate in the morning session.
Ideally we need another hundred runs or so, I think they should bat till tea (if they last that is), possibly at a faster rate in the 2nd session. Should try to get that lead as close to 400 as possible and have a bowl at the kiwis from tea onwards.
Ball will go soft and runs will come.
Test cricket is all about riding out tough storms.
Do it and India can score even 350-400 in 3rd innings (assuming we want to bat that long).
But you need skills and temperament to ride out the storms.
But new ball is due in 5 overs no?
Lead reaches 300. Should we just attack these bowlers now?
Rohit has to make it count this time. No pressure, big lead already, should have no excuses.
Just as I said...collapse will happen.
If you actually go front and back, runs can be scored. Not easy runs but scorable.
Plus it always gets easier once you hang in there.
Its just that Kohli and Rahane suck.
I guess you are hinting at the second new ball of either innings....New ball is a tricky business.
Huh?
I guess you are hinting at the second new ball of either innings....
Rahane still doesn't get forward.
Tired of him not learning from his mistakes.
New ball as in new ball....NZ didn't do well against second new ball while India did well against first new ball in a new innings.
Similarly India also collapsed to the second new ball courtesy to that excellent spell from Boult.![]()
The point being?
I was talking about spin.
Boult hit his stride, bowled beautifully and got some help in the evening. He looked flat the next day. Indian pacers got almost nothing from new ball. Boult got nothing from the new ball (apart from some initial swing) in 2nd innings.
So odds are against them reg pacers.
Kohli bhai sharam Karo!
Even Australians bat better than you!
And Tailunt is outscoring you![]()
Pretty much on you with that. Now we should just bat for another hour or so and declare.Inspite of everything, it was still a great session for us from the match point of view.
100 extra runs added.
Add another 75 more and let's GO.
Rahane seems to have learnt on not missing out of soft runs something which VVS lacked.Nothing wrong with that if you have played some quality knocks already.
